Hey Arunvrparavur! Thanks for your contributions so far. I came across a few of the photos you uploaded here to Wikipedia - I was wondering if you took all the photos yourself? Just want to make sure, since I've seen a few of the pictures circulating around the internet. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 06:18, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Paravur Municipality.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". File permission problem with File:Technopark Kollam Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Technopark Kollam Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 07:29, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for some of your uploads

[edit]

Thanks for your uploads to Wikipedia. There is an issue with some of them, specifically:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the images because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the images, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image files themselves. Please update the image descriptions with URLs that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:15, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't upload any more photos that you have not taken yourself

[edit]

Stop icon Hi Arunvrparavur. Please don't upload any more copies of photos that you find on the Internet. As an emerging Port city in India, nowadays Kollam Development Authority is doing their job very well. I think Kollam Development Authority is the most active one among the development authorities in Kerala. They had already proposed a long list of new projects in the 'Partner Kerala Meet' for the city development of Kollam[1].

Almost all the important cities in Kerala have their own separate pages for the respective Development Authorities[2][3][4]. So I think a new separate page for the Development authority of this emerging city is a needed one. I request you to create a separate page.

Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading! --Gauri Wur Sem (talk) 21:05, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion for Kollam Airport

[edit]

An article that you have been involved in editing, Kollam Airport, has been proposed for a merge with another article. If you are interested in the merge discussion, please participate by going here, and adding your comments on the discussion page. Thank you. Trinidade (talk) 09:48, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion is, we we should keep the separate page for Kollam Airport. Because of the importance. So many people may check for the info regarding the first airport in the state of Kerala in India. So its better keep those pages separately. Thank you. Arunvrparavur 15:43, 29 September 2014

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited ThinkPalm Technologies, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sunnyvale. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Kerala Minerals and Metals may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. Hi Arunvrparavur. The content you recently added to History of India and three other articles has been removed for various reasons by other editors. Some of the websites you used as sources are not acceptable to link to. For example, the articles that people have copied onto SkyscraperCity are copyright violations. We shouldn't be adding links to copyright violations or using them as sources. And it's best on the English language Wikipedia to use English language sources so that the content is verifiable by other editors, and so that we can check whether or not the prose added to our wiki is not copied from elsewhere in violation of copyright law. Please let me know if you have any questions. -- Diannaa (talk) 22:37, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you copy material from other Wikipedia articles you must put a wikilink in the edit summary to the article you are copying from & say you've copied from that article. If you do not, that is also a copyright violation. Dougweller (talk) 13:40, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:ThinkPalm Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ThinkPalm Logo.jpg, which you've attributed to http://thinkpalm.com/.

Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 22:38, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: File:ThinkPalm Logo.jpg was a camera click from me. And that was for the creation of their own Wikipedia page. Nobody has the right over my click I guess. No misuse intention behind that post. And that particular logo was created by the designers team. That image is not a copy-pasted one from any of their website or publications. That was taken from their front-office only. Arun (talk) 06:25, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quilon Aerodrome

[edit]

Hello Arunvrparavur. There is a primary difference between an airport and an aerodrome. As mentioned in the aerodrome Wikipedia article, - The term airport may imply a certain stature (having satisfied certain certification criteria or regulatory requirements) that an aerodrome may not have achieved. That is to say, all airports are aerodromes, but not all aerodromes are airports.

Quilon aerodrome did not have a terminal nor a hangar. Hence, calling it an airport is misleading and incorrect. At best, it could be termed as a landing ground or aerodrome. Also, in those days, many aviation facilities were termed as aerodromes or airfields. For example Juhu Aerodrome in Mumbai, Drigh Road Airstrip in Karachi and Great West Aerodrome in London, which is now Heathrow Airport. I suggest it is best to keep the Quilon Aerodrome name. Why have you added the name Kollam airport, and where did you get the name from? Thanks -Trinidade (talk) 18:21, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Hi Trinidade, I just put Kollam Airport as a native name because, people of Kollam are still calling that old aerodrome property as Kollam Airport. That is the only reason for giving that name. For the natives of Kollam & the whole Kerala, this native name is necessary to identify this particular topic. As a proof, I am submitting a Thesis' web link. Please check the History section in Page Number 2. http://dyuthi.cusat.ac.in/xmlui/bitstream/handle/purl/3380/Dyuthi-T1357.pdf?sequence=1

If you think that the native name Kollam Airport is inappropriate even after checking this link, you can remove that. Thanks - Arun 05:38, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Thevally Palace, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.nativeplanet.com/kollam/attractions/thevally-palace/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Proposed deletion of Cutchery

[edit]

The article Cutchery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no indication that this neighborhood is notable. None of the refs are RSs about the neighborhood itself.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. In Malayalam too

Hi Arun, Im also hails from Kollam. But Active in Malayalam Wikipedia. Thanks for your image contributions. Can you add it in Malayalam Wikipedia also.--Akhilan (talk) 17:41, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello Akhilan. Thank you for your Malayalam wiki contributions. It will be good if you can improve the Kollam's Malayalam page in to the similar standard of it's English page.

Regarding the images, I am currently uploading every images in wiki commons, that can be used in any of the wiki pages irrespective of language. That is why I am not giving Malayalam titles for the images. You can use that images in Malayalam wiki pages also. - Arun V R 04:19, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cheena Kottaram requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from here and here. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Repeated copyright violations will result in you being blocked from editing. Diannaa (talk) 04:00, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
