Speedy deletion of Be good to me (song)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Be good to me (song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Udonknome (talk) 22:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong source

[edit]

Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article Robyn discography are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! Lillygirl (talk) 02:43, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:House of Max poster.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:House of Max poster.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:06, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Gabriella6.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Thedarxide (talk) 08:50, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Reflector Limited Edition.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Reflector Limited Edition.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:27, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Britney Spears Radar.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Britney Spears Radar.jpg was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Britney Spears Radar.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Component charts

[edit]

Hi, please do not add component charts to the Wikipedia:Record charts as you did to the Untouched (song) article, WP:CHARTS states that "component charts [download, physical singles or airplay charts] should not be used in the tables, unless the song fails to enter the main chart, but appears on an airplay or sales chart." Thank You. Lillygirl (talk) 10:13, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Popular (The Veronicas song)

[edit]

Hi, about this, it doesn't really matter if the song has been released as a single or not. The main issue is how notable it is. "Popular" is not a notable song. Wikipedia:Notability (music) states that songs should have their own articles if the song;

  • "Has been ranked on national or significant music charts." - This song never charted in any country.
  • "Had won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists." - this song has only been performed by The Veronicas and has won no awards.

Wikipedia:Notability (music) also states;

  • "articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album." - This article has got around two lines of information in it than can be easily explained in the Hook Me Up article.

Proposed deletion of I Wanna Be In Love

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article I Wanna Be In Love, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Not a notable single, failed to chart. Content in album article is sufficient, per WP:MUSIC

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. No, airplay charts are not generally classified as "official charts". Wikipedia:Record charts has good examples of what are counted as official charts. Lillygirl (talk) 15:37, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Mascara/Leave me alone

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mascara/Leave me alone, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Wikipedia bases it's music articles on songs not singles. This single was released as a double A-side single which both have their own articles: Leave Me Alone (Killing Heidi song) and Mascara (song).

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

[edit]

The article you created, The_Cry_(film) maybe deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

  1. You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
  3. When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.
  4. You can merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 09:36, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mascara.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Freeze

[edit]

Hi
Sorry, but I think you are wrong about Freeze: I've looked long and hard, but there is no proof whatsoever that "Freeze" was or is going to be released as a single. I know that it entered airplay charts in Australia, but that's not enough to bring it past the notability guideline WP:MUSIC#Songs.
If you disagree, could we discuss this first at Talk:Jordin Sparks (album)? I wouldn't want to drag it to AfD.

My Life Would Suck Without You

[edit]

Hi
"My Life Would Suck Without You" is just at deletion review (Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 January 20#My Life Would Suck Without You). Please see the current userfied version at User:Cameron Scott/My Life Would Suck Without You, which will be moved back to the proper title once the DRV is closed. Feel free to edit that version constructively in the meantime. --Amalthea 00:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The single has an official release date according to the Australian Sony BMG website, so it is allowed to be created. Billy4kate (talk) 00:45, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's not the point. The topic and its fate is being actively discussed right now, and should not be circumvented by just ignoring discussion and recreating it under a name in violation of WP:NAME. Also, having two seperate versions will make it very very hard to merge once the DRV is concluded, which will be very very soon. Please be patient, wait until then, and contribute to the userfied version instead. If you undo it, be sure that an administrator will again revert and protect the page in return. --Amalthea 00:50, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the version you gave me, and shoudln't the page be restored now, because an official date has been announced on an official label's site?. Billy4kate (talk) 00:52, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. And yes, it should be restored, and it will be shortly. Not because it was announced though: not all singles or songs pass the inclusion criteria from WP:MUSIC#Songs. They need to have recieved "significant coverage in reliable sources", although it's typically accepted if they are listed on a major chart. As a matter of fact, it was already released in the US, the announcement in Australia doesn't add much to that. --Amalthea 00:55, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I had to tag File:My Life Would Suck Without You KC.jpg for deletion again: non-free images are not allowed in user space, per our non free content policy. If it gets deleted before the article is moved back in Article space, we're just going to have to upload it again. Cheers, Amalthea 01:06, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Poker Face USCover.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Poker Face USCover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Realist2 19:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've just reverted your edit to the above article as the citation used for the Australian chart positions[1] doesn't confirm them. If you want to re-add the chart positions that's fine, but you must provide a citation to back them up, please see WP:RS and WP:REF for further info on doing this. This is especially important as this is a featured list article. Thanks, --JD554 (talk) 11:28, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, I've also reverted your edit to The Corrs discography for exactly the same reasons. --JD554 (talk) 11:31, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid those citations you added can't be considered to be from reliable sources, it's simply a mirror of the Wikipedia articles. Please read WP:RS and WP:SPS for further information. Thanks, --JD554 (talk) 07:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Been Waiting (song)

[edit]

I have nominated Been Waiting (song), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Been Waiting (song). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. JD554 (talk) 14:30, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you can add sources before the AfD concludes (in 4 more days) which comply with WP:RS and WP:SPS that show that the single is notable and meets the criteria at WP:GNG and WP:NSONGS then I will, until then the discussion needs to continue for other editors to add their thoughts if they so wish. --JD554 (talk) 09:25, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the result of the AfD was to redirect to the album. I've copied the contents of the article to User:Billy4kate/Been Waiting (song) so you can try to work on it there in order to meet Wikipeida's criteria for inclusion. --JD554 (talk) 10:28, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A cover and tracklisting isn't really content. You need to be able to add content that has come from reliable secondary sources. --JD554 (talk) 07:39, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't recreate articles which have been redirected by AfD without substantially fixing the problems discussed. My advice would be to work on the article in your userspace at User:Billy4kate/Been Waiting (song) and add content (pictures don't count) that have come from secondary reliable sources. See WP:RS, WP:SPS, WP:V and WP:REF for further information on this aspect. Once you think you may have an article that is worth keeping, you could ask someone to have a look at it and see if they agree. This might help stop the article being removed again. --JD554 (talk) 08:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Caught in the Crowd

[edit]

Just because the singles is going to be released doesn't make it notable. The article needs to contain information about the single which must come from sources which comply with WP:RS and WP:SPS. This is to comply with Wikipedia's verifiability policy and to show that the single meets the criteria at WP:GNG and WP:NSONGS, in other words there needs to be significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The simply isn't the case at the moment. --JD554 (talk) 09:56, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That particular part is referring to albums. What you may have missed is this bit: Notability aside, a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album. --JD554 (talk) 10:00, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You would be better off working on the article in the user namespace and then moving it to the main article space when there is enough verifiable information to ensure the single meets the relevant criteria. I've added the content that was there to User:Billy4kate/Caught in the Act so you can do this. At the moment it simply doesn't meet the criteria. When you've worked on the article and made sure it does meet the criteria at the pages I've mentioned then you can copy the contents to the article namespace. --JD554 (talk) 10:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you can manage to add information to the article from the music press or from newspapers (not forgetting to add citations) then this will help to show notability. --JD554 (talk) 10:18, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I mean sources that talk about the song rather than just giving its release date. This has been explained to you before. --JD554 (talk) 09:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No they didn't. You had three sources - the artist's website, the label's website and the artists myspace page - all of which are not "independent of the subject" and therefore cannot be used to show notability per WP:N. The other source (repeated 3 times) is simply an online seller which is being used simply for the tack-listing, release date and catalogue number. The article must have reliable sources which are indpendent of the subject, ie from music press, news websites etc. to show the song is notable. As it is it fails WP:NSONGS. Please read the links I'm providing you with. --JD554 (talk) 09:58, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't think it's quite there yet. Now it's been released though, is it likely to chart within the next week? If so, add that information when it does and will definitely meet the criteria at WP:NSONGS. --JD554 (talk) 10:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack pages

[edit]

I've noticed that you've been creating soundtrack pages for film soundtracks. You may want to look at WP:MUSIC and WP:NOTE before creating anymore. Not all soundtracks are notable enough to have their own article, as a matter of fact, most of them aren't.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:01, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You should read this page. There, it stipulates that you need to find significant coverage from third-party reliable sources. Basically, you need to find quite a few reliable sources that talk about the soundtrack beyond a trivial mentioning (e.g., The soundtrack will be out on ....., or The soundtrack contains the songs ....). Even then, there needs to be enough information to warrant a separate page, and given the shape some of those film pages they don't need to be split. The only ones that I merged with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack pages. I noticed a couple more, but I did not do anything with them. A good example of what a soundtrack page should look like would be Halo 2 Original Soundtrack.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:11, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Certifications

[edit]

Hi, when you are updating certifications please cite a reliable source instead of just changing referenced material for unverified figures. ARIA has not updated the cert so we have to assume it has not changed until it is published. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 05:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see, you're using the actual chart, makes sense. Fair enough, however, could you please state this in the edit summary or something when you do it? Or maybe even update the relevant references to where it will be archived. It's just quite hard to keep up with all the changes when it isn't explained, and there is a lot of false certification rising that goes on. Cheers. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 09:46, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Stop adding information which will expire in a matter of time. As is evident from your talk page you seem to have this problem with everyone. --Legolas (talktome) 10:56, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you delete or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Lady Gaga discography, you will be blocked from editing. You are adding sources that badly fails WP:RS. Change your ways or next time blocks will come --Legolas (talktome) 05:36, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Running Back.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Running Back.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 07:06, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
