Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (IAC-Israel Museum) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it gives the impression that this account is registered to a group or organization. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account to use for editing. Thank you. P. D. Cook Talk to me! 15:13, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments, I am at the Israel Museum, and am writing a first article for a new project, with Wikipedia Israel concerning "Israeli artists". It was their suggestion to have the user name denote the "Israeli Art Information Center" and "The Israel Museum, Jerusalem". We have only begun yesterday to test the waters and appreciate your feedback. We are working on preparing a project page. Do you think IAC-IMJ is better? I am the first of many that will be involved in this project. IAC is one dept, there will be others. I have a personal user name Drkup (IAC-Israel Museum (talk) 04:06, 29 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Request reason:

Thank you for your comments, I am at the Israel Museum, and am writing a first article for a new project, with Wikipedia Israel concerning "Israeli artists". It was Wikipedia Israel who suggested to have the user name denote the "Israeli Art Information Center" and "The Israel Museum, Jerusalem". Decline reason:

I think you're confusing "username" with "article title" - your username should be your own, not that of your group or the subject of an article you wish to write. Please follow the instructions left above to change your username. Thanks! — Joseph Fox 12:03, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am unblocking this account. According to Wikipedia:Username policy, Users who adopt such usernames, but who are not editing problematically in related articles, should not be blocked. Instead, they should be gently encouraged to change their username.

I know this user in real life and i confirm that the work done from it is done in perfectly good faith. Maybe the name should be changed, but the account must not be blocked. Please discuss this with me before blocking the account again. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 15:14, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. At the recommendation of Liam Wyatt from the Foundation I was told the following "If you can make a personal one with the institution`s name at the end, that would be better. Here, for example, is one of the Wikimedia Foundation's staff's userpage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Steven_(WMF) As a volunteer he edits as user:steven Walling but as an employee he edits as user:steven (WMF) with a description on both of those pages explaining his affiliation. The article Lillian Klapisch has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Happy editing, hajatvrc with WikiLove @ 17:53, 14 August 2011 (UTC) The poor page is only a few minutes old and you are ready to let it go! I have now added a few references (I was not done yet). Hello!

Hi there! Great to meet you at Wikimania. I was seeing your updates on your GLAM Page. If I can be of any assistance let me know! Feel free to email me if you like, [email protected], and I can put you in touch with folks to help you get started with tagging articles, etc. Also, it'd be fun to brainstorm ideas for the Archives of American Art to work on a few projects together! Perhaps a cross-cultural edit-a-thon? SarahStierch (talk) 14:31, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I moved Moshe Gershuni's photo manually over to Commons. Here it is at Commons. I updated the photo on his English wiki page to point to the commons one. Could you change the Hebrew wiki page?

I capitalized Nahum Tevet's last name. Bgwhite (talk) 21:23, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I updated Gershuni's article. Here is what I did. I used citation templates. The template does the proper syntax so you don't have to remember how to do it. More info on the templates are found at WP:CIT. Bgwhite (talk) 21:52, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - i have a few questiosn regarding the removal fo some links

  • The link to Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design was deleted in the description
  • The indication of Jewish, as we also have Israeli Arab artist. similar to noting gender in art history it is acceptable to write what style as Jewish is considered a stream of art history not a religion here, similar to this is the gender if an artist is a women and that is an important part of the art they create them this fact is regarded as a movement or stream of art.
  • I haven't in the least given up on you. You are doing great.
  • I'm not exactly sure what you mean about "Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design was deleted in the description". I did remove a wikilink of Bezalel in the "Career" section. Generally you should only have a one wikilink in the article, not including the infobox. There is a wikilink of Bezalel in the "Teaching" section above "Education". So, I removed the wikilink in the "Education" section.
  • I'm assuming you mean the removal of Jewish from "Nationality" in the infobox. Religion, race and sexual orientation in infoboxes are a big controversy on Wikipedia. The official policy is to include religion if it is important to what makes them notable. Some obvious ones would include articles on Rabbis, those killed at the Munich Olympics or those performing in Yiddish theater in the U.S. Personally I'd leave it out as you are doing Israeli artists and not Jewish-Israeli artists. Also, Israeli is the nationality. There is not a nationality that is Jewish-Israeli. With that being said, "Jewish" or "Arab" goes beyond religion and into what culture one identifies with. Also, as you said above, it is a stream of art history. The "Movement" in the infobox, there is now "Israeli Art". Having "Jewish Art" is valid. Is there a Jewish-Israeli movement that you can add there? If not, maybe mention Jewish in the article. I don't know exactly what to do. You know better than I, so use your best judgement.
  • I did capitalize Nahum Tevet's name yesterday.
  • Looks like somebody already beat me to Lilian Klapisch. Lillian Klapisch (LL) now redirects to Lilian Klapisch (L).
  • Make sure to add ~~~~ at the end of comments you write. Bgwhite (talk) 20:31, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Moshe Murro - Copper plates.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Moshe Murro - Copper plates.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. File source problem with File:Moshe Murro 8.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Moshe Murro 8.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tagging photos

[edit]

Where exactly did you get the photo? Do you have a web address for it? Let's see if I can figure out the copyright status.

Wikipedia people are very, very picky about photos' copyright status. A photo has to be in the public domain, have a proper license (CC-SA) or permission from the copyright holder. Bgwhite (talk) 20:58, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Moshe Murro, Bezalel,, Lead spinning top , 1929.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Moshe Murro, Bezalel,, Lead spinning top , 1929.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:11, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We have 12,000 artists and I am starting slow (with the first 50) once i get the hang of it i hope to do this in a smarter way.
Regarding the images I would appreciate if you can help me figure out how to update the copyright so that THEY are happy. (I am not sure who they are but there are so many of THEM!)(Drkup(IMJ) (talk) 18:57, 20 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]

New articles

[edit]

I hadn't seen any new articles from you, so I thought you were off relaxing.

There are a few places where one can see new articles that have been created. Special:NewPages is the logs of all new articles that get created that are done by "untrusted" editors. By "untrusted", I mean the editor has created alot of new articles. People look at the logs to find new articles that clearly don't belong (hoax, garbled words, nonsense).

There are database reports that get created. I use one of these. A report is generated of any biography of a living person. A bot (computer program) tags these with a biography banner on the article's talk page. I see what the bot tagged. I manually add some meta-data and look for articles that might not meet the requirements to be an article.... So, that is why I see the new articles you created. Bgwhite (talk) 08:52, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Guy Ben-Ner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the notability of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Yunshui (talk) 09:59, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Drkup

Hi - I understand you've mostly worked on the Hebrew WP until now. In the English WP, the adherence to the article sourcing rules are much stricter. So (a) please source your articles with references, and (b) please make those references inline citations. (It's not hard to learn, if you need help let me know. It's pretty much must-have knowledge for repeat contributors to WP). Kol HaKavod on the new initiative, good luck!--Sreifa (talk) 04:36, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update to the Wikipedia:GLAM/IMJ page

[edit]

I've been updating the Wikipedia:GLAM/IMJ page. I haven't written anything new, just organized it with the same pattern the other Glams have it.

The biggie is the "Project Statistics" at the bottom of the page. Hopefully this will allow better tracking of all the articles. If you place the {{WikiProject Israel Museum, Jerusalem}} tag on an article's talk page it will show up on the table. The table updates once every three days. I'm not finished with all the infrastructure... Will get it done over the next few days.

Speedy deletion of "Walter Zadek"

[edit]

A page you created, Walter Zadek, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Breawycker (talk to me!) 21:33, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

templates

[edit]

I also put a word in about Walter Zadek's deletion.

Could you start using the templates that have been created. I just updated Efrat Natan to use the templates. The templates do two things... One, it keeps the look consistent. Two, if the links in any way change in the future, hopefully will only have to change the information on the template itself rather than updating all the articles with the new link.

The Information Center for Israeli Art template ({{IMJ-IAC}}), should be used in the reference section. For Efrat Natan, I placed the template under "General" because the article was small and information from the template was used for most of the article. The Snyder bio is a copy/paste of copyrighted material, presented in an inappropriate tone. Since Mr. Snyder is clearly notable, a rewritten, non-infringing version would be in order. Acroterion (talk) 14:53, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at James S. Snyder

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from James S. Snyder. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:10, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with James S. Snyder. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:15, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I don't know Hebrew to do this, but there needs to be an interlanguage link on both the Hebrew and English versions of each artist's article. Here's is the help page. All you need to do is add a [[language code:Title]] tag. When this is added, a link on the left hand side menu will be displayed for the the other language's version of the article. Bgwhite (talk) 07:21, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I finished the links, now to Chinese...Drkup(IMJ) (talk) 05:17, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Israel Museum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi there Alison! I saw you submitted something for Wikimania 2012 and I think that's great! I made a suggestion and comment regarding the title of your submission and also noted one minor issue with it here. Looking forward to seeing you at Wikimania! Sarah (talk) 14:20, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Verification of license needed

[edit]

Hi. We need verification of license to use the content copied into the article Raffi Lavie. Some of this content was placed by User:Ndreiss, but given your evident affiliation with the IMJ you may be able to help verify this content anyway. As long as that website reserves all rights, we will have to verify through external means. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the process. You can see more information, including a list of articles affected, at User talk:Ndreiss#Copyright problem: Yohanan Simon.

You yourself seem to have placed content from this e-Flux announcement. (Duplication detector report.) We need verification of license for this as well.

If we don't receive verification for this content, I'm afraid we will have no choice but to remove it, in compliance with our copyright policies. See Wikipedia:Copy-paste for more information. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:46, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure I understand you question the texts are from the information center database see project page here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/IMJ/Israeli_Artist_Files

The same answer is correct for the texts on Yohanan Simon

The images permission is with permission saved here - Ticket link: https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketID=6374506 Which we saved in the commons site

Ndreiss was an intern last summer who participated in this IMJ GLAM project. Drkup(IMJ) (talk) 14:26, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, but this does not concern the images, but the text. The letter you link specifically mentions the attached images. We need verification of permission for text as well. We will either need a permission letter with a full list of articles into which content has been pasted or a general license letter releasing all content from the museum, unless they wish to modify their website to release the material there. If they decide to do that general release, please let me know, and I will take care of the administrative end of things here. If they choose instead to send a letter, if you can let me know that, I'll make sure that the content is not deleted prematurely before the letter is processed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:22, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
the process and permissions have all been dealt with as I understand but I will contact our local chapter to see what I missed while planning the GLAM projectDrkup(IMJ) (talk) 14:26, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a very good idea. This matter came to my attention when another contributor deleted the content from an article in compliance with Wikipedia:Copyright violations. He would have had no way to know if permission had been provided. If permission is supplied for the text, it's essential to put a note on the talk page of the article indicating as much to prevent this happening. I can help create a template so that the note can be easily added once there is tangible verification of license, whether that is at the museum's website or a separate letter to OTRS. Since this matter concerns the English Wikipedia, I would strongly recommend sending your letter in the English language to help avoid future problems, when those who have worked with the issue directly may not be available to answer questions. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:29, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that on all the 50 artist we worked on on the talk page of the article we noted that this item is part of our collaborative project: "WikiProject Israel Museum, Jerusalem" Drkup(IMJ) (talk) 14:33, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This does not stand in stead of license verification, I'm afraid. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:38, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Allison emailed me last night about helping out on an other article. I'll also take a look at Raffi Lavie and see if I can re-write the article. I'd rather re-write than go thru OTRS. I'd almost rather have a colonoscopy than deal with OTRS. I'll look at it in about 6hrs. Bgwhite (talk) 23:34, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are of course very welcome to rewrite the content (always a valid way to deal with the issue), but I'm afraid that you need to be aware that this is just one of many articles. :) There are ten total listed at User talk:Ndreiss#Copyright problem: Yohanan Simon, and there may be more that have not yet been discovered. Truly, the easiest thing to do might be for the museum to release the content directly at their site (no OTRS involvement), although it wouldn't help with content from e-Flux. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:38, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I didn't know there were that many articles. Yea, that would be the easiest route. If the museum can't release the content, could one of you make sure to tell me... I'd like to help rewriting the articles if needed. Bgwhite (talk) 06:30, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great. I'll make a note now at the copyright problems board listing to do that to make sure that I don't forget or that, if another admin deals with it, they know. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good news - I have cleared up the issue with Permissions - Wikimedia Commons [[email protected]] and have Ticket#2012051310002101 which states "Texts permissions". Can you please help me reinstate all the texts? Thank you. Drkup(IMJ) (talk) 05:09, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! The texts have been reinstated and all permission documented in the existing articles. Since the permission is liberal to include all the artist descriptions in that list, I have created a simple template that can be used to acknowledge the authorization for future content at Wikipedia:GLAM/IMJ OTRS. Directions are on that page. This template is pretty important to avoid the material being removed for copyright problems by people who do not know that permission has been verified and to make sure that the rights of the museum are honored. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:50, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of List of public art in Israel/row

[edit]

Hello Drkup(IMJ),

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of public art in Israel/row for deletion, because it doesn't seem to have any encyclopedic content.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Barney the barney barney (talk) 19:59, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Drkup(IMJ),

Speedy deletion nomination of List of public art in Israel/row

[edit]

Hello Drkup(IMJ),

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of public art in Israel/row for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Barney the barney barney (talk) 20:34, 25 April 2013 (UTC) Barney the barney barney (talk) 20:34, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While this is nowhere near qualifying for speedy deletion, I would suggest that you move it somewhere better (perhaps to templatespace?), because people can easily find it by accident, e.g. through Special:Random. Meanwhile, List of public art in Israel is all gibberish due to some sort of template malfunction; it will need to have some sort of code fixed. I've protected the "row" page for 24 hours to keep Barney from repeatedly tagging it; if you want to edit it before the protection ends, let me know and I'll unprotect it. Translations of WLPA interface

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for the first batch of translations at Commons:Wiki Loves Public Art 2013/Translation team#Hebrew translation 3. I've implemented all of the translations apart from the Israel Specific ones. These describe the upload process on Commons whereas you've given what looks like a description for how to upload images using Pikiwiki. What I need is an exact translation (same structure as the English text) otherwise it won't work as part of the Commons infrastructure. The Pikiwiki instructions is something you might put in a subsection of Commons:Wiki Loves Public Art 2013 in Israel instead. Cheers André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 12:04, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
