[edit]Joey Bishop Show
[edit]Hi, I appreciate your edits to THE JOEY BISHOP SHOW episode guide. However, several of the air dates and the broadcast order are incorrect, particularly in Season Three. I have verified all of them with newspaper listings and TV Guide articles. There could be a more effective way of providing a source for the corrections, but here are links for your own reference.

I will keep re-editing this post until the correct air dates and order are undisputed. 23.242.254.82
I'm afraid you are sorely mistaken. And everyone of your links to Newspaper.com looks more like an advertisement for the company. Feel free to check out each of these independent sources to see that I'm am correct in my order listing of episodes. I will continue to correct any mistake made to this Joey Bishop Episode page.

All of those websites are incorrect themselves and have no sourcing. If you're attempting to use them to make your case, they're no more based in fact than my links.
Speaking of which, I attempted to link to newspaper.com listings to prove that the articles reveal the correct air dates, often with synopsis and sometimes even the titles that corroborate the correct order. I suppose when I have the time I'll link to actual articles.
I am so sure that my order is accurate that I will continue to edit and correct this episode guide so that this website at least has the true order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.242.254.82 (talk) 16:57, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Yes, those aren't sources. Find TVGuide Articles, Newspaper listings, or CBS press releases that are contemporary PRIMARY sources that confirm the airdates, not internet listings made by error-prone humans. The newspaper archives website that I sourced has actual listings that say EXACTLY what episode was scheduled to air that night.
Some of this is common sense. Do you think an episode about Joey waiting for his kid to come home from the hospital with GUEST STAR Milton Berle would NOT be chosen as the premiere of the season in favor of an episode where the baby is already home and there are no guest stars? And do you think that NBC would launch only part of its Saturday night schedule on the 14th, and save just this series' premiere -- just this series -- for the 21st?
Newspaper Listings
[edit]Once again, your link is inaccurate.
Here's a dropbox folder where I have clipped three different newspaper listings for each of the seven airdate changes that I've made to the episode guide. Look at them and verify the dates. This is a PRIMARY source that confirms when these episodes were broadcast, unlike unsourced online episode guides that simply repeat inaccuracies.

I can't answer why all online guides are inaccurate, but I imagine that an incorrect source was likely copied over and over and over without verification. I can only tell you for sure that newspaper listings (and I'm sure TV Guide listings) say otherwise, and there are more than three clippings for each date as support. This is not just "me" having a different answer -- this is primary sources having different answers.
My hunch is that, in the case of Season Three in particular, when a few of the episodes were remastered for syndication in the 1990s, the versions that were used were from the summer reruns, and thus, episodes were assigned their rerun date as opposed to their original dates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.242.254.82 (talk) 15:41, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Barbara Luddy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use File:Ken Lynch in The Andy Griffith Show 1962.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Ken Lynch in The Andy Griffith Show 1962.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:02, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
This is Entercontainment. In my description it clearly states: As the subject is deceased, no free equivalent could reasonably be obtained or created to replace this media.
Entercontainment (talk) 14:34, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- File:Ken Lynch Richard Gordon Bishop and the Gargoyle 1941.jpg is a public domain photo that was already in the Ken Lynch article when you added the non-free image, and the file was also noted in the deletion tagging. -- Whpq (talk) 14:55, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
OK, so the first picture is in the public domain. What does that have to do with the fact that I added a non-free media picture to the article? There are thousands of articles with multiple pictures. Are you trying to say that there can't be more than one picture in this article? In my description it clearly states: As the subject is deceased, no free equivalent could reasonably be obtained or created to replace this media.Entercontainment (talk) 15:12, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- The public domain photo has everything to do with it. Per WP:NFCC#1, the public domain phot is a freely licensed image of Lynch. Unless there is something very specific about Lynch that require the non-free image, then the use of the non-free image of Lynch is replaceable with a free image. Just because a person is deceased, does not mean that non-free images are allowed. Use of any non-free content must meet all of the non-free content criteria. If you have questions about non-free images and copyright, you can post at Media Copyright Questions. -- Whpq (talk) 15:46, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
This isn't worth it. Just take the picture down. Entercontainment (talk) 15:55, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Whpq, I think I understand now. One can't have Public Domain pictures and Non-Free / Fair Use pictures in the same article. I will remove my picture from the Florence Halop article. Sorry. Entercontainment (talk) 17:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, sort of. It's not just public domain. It's any freely licensed files. -- Whpq (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Whpq, so let me ask you. If the article's main picture is Non-Free / Fair Use, can I add another Non-Free / Fair Use picture? Thanks for the help. Entercontainment (talk) 21:37, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- It really depends on the circumstance. The use needs to be evaluated against all of the non-free content criteria, especially WP:NFCC#3. If it is a second image of a person, then probably not. Whpq (talk) 21:57, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Whpq, thank you for the info. The reason I asked is that some of these pictures are old, bad and don't really represent the people very well. You have to admit that the picture for the "Ken Lynch" article is not very good. Entercontainment (talk) 14:16, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
- It may not be a great image but it is sufficient. Whpq (talk) 14:23, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Whpq, if you posted that picture, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be insulting. Thank you again. Entercontainment (talk) 14:35, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't post the image and I am not insulted. I was just trying to point out that a free image, even if it is of inferior quality to a non-free image, is going to be considered a viable replacement in almost all cases. As with most things, there are exceptions. If the free image is so poor as to be unuseable and there are no other free images, then a case could be made for a non-free image. For example, the only free image is a scan of a photo where the pixellation is so bad that the features of the person are barely distinguishable would arguably be not useable. Another circumstance would be an iconic look for an individual for which there is sourced commentary and a free image of that iconic look is not possible. An example of this would be Farrah Fawcett. We have free images of her, but we also have the non-free image of her red swimsuit poster (File:Farrah Fawcett iconic pinup 1976.jpg). There is no free version of the poster that is possible, and the poster is an absolutely iconic image of her with sufficient sourced commentary that it was spun out to its own article (Farrah Fawcett red swimsuit poster). -- Whpq (talk) 15:06, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Whpq, Hope all is well. I have a question about the article for Robert F. Simon. If you go to this link: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Robert-f-simon-trailer.jpg you will see that an Adim posted: "The actor in this photograph is not Robert F. Simon. It is based on an erroneous identification." I would like to put up a real picture of Robert F. Simon. The old one could still be used by the other Wiki's as it is in WikiCommons, so I wouldn't be effecting them. What do you think? Thanks, Entercontainment.
Entercontainment (talk) 17:02, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on whether the photo is a misidentification. I do note that the there is a claim of PD but it isn't backed up with any evidence so it might not actually be a free file, and the the uploader does seem to have many images that have been deleted as copyright violations. -- Whpq (talk) 01:13, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

- Wikipedia is the encyclopedia that anybody can edit. What this means is that these other articles with non-free images might be cases where the use of the image does not meet with the non-free content criteria, but nobody has noticed. Or it may be a case were the use of the specific non-free image is justified. For example, the Larry Hovis image in Hogan's Heroes is justified by him being missing from the freely licensed cast picture. A bit marginal but arguably okay. The Donna Reed article uses only freely licensed images so I am not sure why you use it as an example. The Life of Riley has one non-free image which probably shouldn't be there but again is something that would need discussion. As stated before, it all comes down to how anon-free image satisfies all of the ]non-free content criteria. If you have more questions about non-free images and copyright Media Copyright Questions is a good place to post. -- Whpq (talk) 02:03, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

- I haven't seen the other pages, so I can't comment on them, but there is a policy for the use of non-free content. Essentially, we must have a specific reason to use a non-free image. If a free image is available that serves the same purpose as the non-free image, then the non-free image cannot used at all, and that's the case with Warburton. Hope that helps. —howcheng {chat} 03:39, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Victoria Horne in The Ghost and Mrs Muir 1947.jpg.
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:29, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Charles Tannen in Vice Squad c.1953.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Charles Tannen in Vice Squad c.1953.jpg.
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:59, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:James Westerfield on The Andy Griffith Show c. 1964.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:James Westerfield on The Andy Griffith Show c. 1964.jpg.
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:06, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
Non-free images
[edit]I see you have been challenging the deletion of non-free images with Things are not that strict. Anything that aids in the description is generally excepted.
Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia, so in fact, the use of non-free content is that strict. Specifically, the use of the content must meet all of the non-free content criteria. For example, you are disputing the deletion of File:James Westerfield on The Andy Griffith Show c. 1964.jpg. The use of the image "to illustrate the person this article is about" clearly fails WP:NFCC#1 because File:James Westerfield in The Chase.jpg is a public domain image that was already being used for that purpose when you added the non-free image. I am disappointed that I'm posting this message as this is exactly the same thing as File:Ken Lynch in The Andy Griffith Show 1962.jpg which we had a conversation about. If you don't understand the non-free content criteria, you can ask for help at Media Copyright Questions. What you cannot do is continue to repeatedly upload non-free images that do not meet the non-free content criteria. -- Whpq (talk) 03:29, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

- User:Wikipendant is simply wrong. WP:NFCC#1 applies even if the image quality is poorer. See Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2019 February 17#File:Dana Plato 1979.jpg for an example. A non-free image of Dana Plato was deleted because a free image was available on Commons. Even though the public domain image is not great quality it was deemed sufficient and the non-free image was deleted. As for not answering your question on the mix of free and non-free images in articles, I answered on 3 December 2021 and that answer still applies. -- Whpq (talk) 14:25, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

- I assume you are referring to the images in the James Westerfield article. Nobody is protecting a sockpuppet. What is happening is that the non-free content criteria are being applied. Pasting a big long list of articles which have (or had) a mix of free and non-free content as a challenge is not at all convincing. See WP:OTHERSTUFF. It's about articles for deletion, but the same principle applies. -- Whpq (talk) 19:22, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Zamah Cunningham in The Honeymooners 1956.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Zamah Cunningham in The Honeymooners 1956.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 05:58, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Joseph Mell in The Alfred Hitchcock Hour 1965.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Joseph Mell in The Alfred Hitchcock Hour 1965.jpg.
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
