Speedy deletion of "W. Bryer & Sons"

[edit]

A page you created, W. Bryer & Sons, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for companies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

setting up a page similar to: Education Program:Wikimedia UK/Cinema Museum 2015 (Spring 2015)

[edit]

Hi, I have agreed to do a workshop on behalf of Wikimedia UK on 15th July which is likely to cover Conflict of Interest, Biographies of Living Persons and possibly Paid editing, along with some basic wp editing.

This will be at the University of Exeter and the expected participants are web people and possibly other comms people from universities in the south west of England. Their objective is to improve the wp articles on academics from their institutions (eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Academics_of_the_University_of_Exeter )

This was originally discussed with Daria in 2013 and then was going to be held in 2014 (Chris McKenna, HJ Mitchell, Martin Poulter etc were copied into the planning). I posted to the WikimediaUK mailing list about this yesterday.

I want to put something up in advance for participants & found your Education Program:Wikimedia UK/Cinema Museum 2015 (Spring 2015) which seems the nearest to the sort of thing I want to do. When I tried to create a new page at Education Program:Wikimedia UK/XXXX I couldn't edit it - who controls the creation of pages like that? I saw you had a hidden comment re Template:course page wizard & wondered about using that - any advice?— Rod talk 15:29, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments. I can't work out how rto apply for user rights without setting up the course _+ assignments using the wizard & seeing as what I'm doing is a one day workshop with no assignments this seems totally inappropriate, so I'm giving up for now & will look at this again later, possibly examining the sort of pages for editathons or similar.— Rod talk

I quite understand. Actually I just removed that bit. Anyway perhaps we could have a chat about it on the phone when its convenient. Leutha (talk) 09:16, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Which bit have you "just removed"? I'm now thinking about just creating an event page on the WikiMedia UK site for this event.— Rod talk 09:47, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can just ask for userrights on the Wikipedia:Education noticeboard. When I started the page, it goes through several subpages, and I just removed the bits I didn't want. I am afraid I can't remember them distinctly. Fabian Tompsett (WMUK) (talk) 15:13, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hi. I don't think we've crossed paths before but I had to remove the categories (mostly red-linked and malformed, anyway) as they were causing your userspace to appear in the UK MPs 2015–20. Yours, Quis separabit? 13:20, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stub Contest

[edit]

Hi, last year I won the 2nd prize for the Stub Contest but I didn't get the prize. I had asked you to contact me at later time. Now I want to use it. Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 11:51, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I won't be able to use the voucher now. Maybe, after a few months. I thoughts vouchers meant balance at Amazon but I came to know just now that they are discounts.--Skr15081997 (talk) 12:19, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

andreas parker

[edit]

hi fabian, you sent a meetup invitation to user andreas parker last spring. rumors say, andreas, if he exists at all, has died. in the german wikipedia he wrote so much problematic stuff that it rained criticism – and he felt mobbed. have you seen him or heard of him? did he ever turn up at one of london's wikipedian meetings? is he a real person? best, Maximilian (talk) 23:51, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Hi Fabian. Just a little note to thank you again for your support and help with the Research Methods (Film) module at QM this year. I'm so grateful, and the students are too. If you'd be willing to be involved in next year's course, that would be wonderful. Thanks again and hope to see you next year, DrJennyCee (talk) 10:27, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
