Moving pages

[edit]

Hi, please see Help:Moving a page for help on moving pages. Please don't create cut-and-paste articles. Thank you.. :) --Kjoonlee 18:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should never create cut-and-paste articles, because it's too easy to violate the GFDL. (Previous edit history being lost.) If you really want articles to be moved, you can request the moves. Wikipedia:Requested moves --Kjoonlee 17:50, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I am happy with the titles of Hamraaz and Humraaz and oppose moving them. There are disambiguation links on both articles now, as well. --Kjoonlee 17:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cast credit

[edit]

As I see, you were earlier opposing to have Rani Mukerji's name before Zinta's name in the Veer Zaara page. Formerly, Zora and Plumcouch decided to use IMDB as a format, to make Shez understand that film credits are useless. But now, IMDB is not suitable at all. Users there change cast credits every day and it comes to be unreliable at all, and that's what happened with Veer-Zaara, IMDB changes it daily. Please comment on the talk page of Veer-Zaara. The fact is that we can't use film credits either. Filmmakers try to make their actors happy, crediting them as per seniority. Here on Wikipedia we have to credit first the heroes and then the supporting. Apart from it, who can prove that the cast order provided by you or me is true? There is no source and we can't rely on words. In my opinion, we have to find a good site, which has entries for all Bollywood films. I also posted a message to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indian cinema. If you have the time, please comment. Best regards, --Shshshsh 20:43, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Indian Cinema Barnstar
I award you this barnstar for your brilliant and tireless contribution to Bollywood-related articles, for creating such a huge number of Bollywood classic film articles.

The last few days, I've gone through Bollywood related pages and found out so much of Bollywood classic films. I wondered, who was the creator of such a big number of articles? 90% of them were created by none other than - Haphar. Nowadays, our old Bollywood films are so forgotten... I wanted to take the time to thank you for resurrecting our classic Bollywood films. No one deserves it more than you! Thank you! ShahidTalk2me 19:51, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. It appears you have not followed this policy at Haqeeqat. Please always observe our core policies. Thank you. Gscshoyru 12:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pls check

[edit]

Please check article history , the article was very neutral till someone recently added some copious volume of POV. I have not "added" any POV but taken away some. Please look at checking the history before jumping to any conclusion. Haphar 12:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For instance, the very first change you made to the page: "The film is one made straight from the heart. The film deals honestly with the mistakes made by the leaders and the defeat suffered by India in the war. The film looks at the plight of those who mattered the most in the war - the jawan." is very POV. The other edits to the page are more of a critical review of the film, which is not encyclopedic. I admit the stuff you're removing is POV, but the stuff you're adding is hardly better. The stuff should be deleted from the page wholesale. Gscshoyru 12:28, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Learn to look at the history, whatever you quoted has not been put in by me. Haphar 12:29, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Look here: [1]. The word heart was added by you, it was not there before. The rest of the stuff that seems to be new, however, was in fact there before, but the setup of the diff made me think otherwise. You should delete the rest of it though. Gscshoyru 12:32, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You look here [2] See paragraph 3- The word heart and the sentences were already there. I have not added one word to this section. My last additions to this page was the awards section some days ago. In my edit which you reverted a only DELETED. Please do look at understanding how the history section works and how to go about looking at past edits before leaving reamrks about wikipedia policy on talk pages. Please feel free to delete whatever you feel is POV on the page. Haphar 12:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hm... I have no clue how I missed that. I do know how to use history, (and I don't like you implying otherwise) but for some reason, when I did a ctrl-f for the word, I never saw it on that side. Also, the way the diff of your edits look, which I already showed you, makes it look like you added content, not just removed it. And when I'm reverting vandalism, I can't give every page a good look, or I'll get slowed down, so there's the occasional mistake. My fault. In any case, the rest of the POV in the article (which was the whole section, unfortunately,) has been removed. Gscshoyru 12:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well put yourself in my shoes, I remove POV from an article and then get a message telling me not to add POV, and then get more messages telling me I added stuff, while all the while I have not added anything but removed POV. One would get a little worked up over it. Anyway alls well that ends well. Haphar 13:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I totally agree. But put yourself in mine -- I see that there's a lot of removed content from the article, and at first glance of the diff page, it looks like the POV content was added, rather than removed. But it is in fact, totally my fault. And yeah... all's well. Gscshoyru 13:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I don;t know what planet you're living on but the Hindi film industry is known as Bollywood to the world. I don't so much mind the name Bollywood, its all the ridiculous spin offs such as Tollywood and Kollywood and even Nollywood from Nigeria. The article on wikipedia is called Bollywood not Hindi-language film industry. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:41, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know -to be honest I think it is a term used by those who nothing about Indian cinema -Indian film has nothing to do with Hollywood -I guess its Americas way of saying "we were hear first" sort of thing. To an Indian I can certainly see how the name is deragoratry -completely. Before I knew anything about indian film I always beleived Bollywood referred to all of Indian cinema!! It just shows how dumb the media can be. I've changed it to Hindi (Bollywood) film OK? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:48, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

Since you seem to be looking at removing POV. Can you look at the article Rani Mukherjee and the discussion there as I am involved in a debate where I feel there is a lot of POV on the article and a fan of the actress keeps putting it back. Haphar 12:44, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just been warned off of something by an admin, I'm not gonna do anything controversial for a while. You're on your own, man. Gscshoyru 12:49, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Haphar, I've taken note of the problem at this article; could you please file in a request at WP:RFPP requesting protection? I'm a little wary of doing it myself, tho, since I've been previously involved in the article... please let me know if I can help further, k hun? Love, Phaedriel - 22:05, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Haphar, I appreciate your edits on Mukerji's page. The only thing I put back the way it was, was the Saathiya paragraph. In the "Early work and breakthrough, 1996-2002" section, there are no quotes at all thus I added the critic quote for Saathiya as it is an important film for her. Her role has to be described and plus you also removed the fact that she won a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance, as well as earned her first nomination for Filmfare Best Actress Award. We are not trying to glorify her page and I agree that there were too many quotes and role descriptions but it is a must for important films and sometimes for other films too. Hello! How have you been? Long time!

Haphar, critical comments and essential film details generally constitute a good standard for BLP actors articles. Many GA and FA reviewers require such details, as that of what role she played, the story in short, critical response to her performance, box office figures, though I definitely agree that not every film requires that format.

As of now, I haven't added all of them back, but only for important films, which illustrate her status: for CCCC (because it implies that at that point of time her career was going nowhere - the review is not positive, thus helps to address neutrality issues), KANK (the biggest Bollywood production of all time, which also won her awards) and TRRP (to represent the year 2007 and how it was for her; this is the only quote for a 2007 film). Also noted (without quotes) that Baabul received a mixed reception, again, to address neutrality. Apart from that, I didn't add nothing else. In fact, she is one of the leading ladies in the film industry today, we can't ignore this fact. We have to admit that the article looks much better, than it was back in time, in the Shez 15 days.

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Bindu_Actress2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. WP:FILMS Questionnaire

[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

I think most of what you suggested is already in the "History" section -- but please feel free to come back to the talk page and chat about it some more. Fair use rationale for File:10numbri.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:10numbri.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:11, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Film naming conventions

[edit]

I reverted your moves of Eagle Eye and The Holiday. There is no naming convention that demands that films have a (YYYY film) disambiguator tacked on to their title, and in the case of The Holiday there was an earlier requested move to the base name. Please bring up any proposed changes to the primary topic of these at the talk pages before moving them. Thanks. -- JHunterJ (talk) 21:58, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ranjeet has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references..

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
