Hi. When you recently edited List of Historical novels in Indian languages, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Oriya and Assamese (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Maarthaanda Varma Amar Chithra Katha.jpeg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Maarthaanda Varma Amar Chithra Katha.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 17:13, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Recent page moves

[edit]

I have reverted your edits in the pages Goat Days, Kesavan's Lamentations and God's Mischief. While moving a page to an existing target title, you need to request a page move at WP:RM rather than copy-paste content. These pages are kept at their English title because of the Wikipedia naming convention that "if a book is best known by an English title, use that version of the title." Malayala Sahityam (talk) 17:54, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Malayala Sahityam:
Thanks for the notification and extermely sorry for overriding the policies, which was never my indent, which is rather to keep the right information on the specified pages.
If the books that are subjects of the respective articles are more known with their English titles, than their original titles, then the keeping English titles shall be fine (eg:The Three Musketeers), however the case of these titles are not similar I suppose, and statements like God's Mischief (original title: Daivathinte Vikrithikal) is a 1989 Malayalam novel written by M. Mukundan, is grossly misleading as the translation was reportedly released in 2013 as per the article and this amounts to scripting error, that implies God's Mischief is a 1989 Malayalam novel. Please start the discussion about the same so that you and those who involved in the contents of the respective articles can reach a consensus regarding the same, referring to multiple sources both online and offline. Kindly keep the right information on the respective pages.
Apart from the above, let me use this opportunity to bring into your notice about the translations of Indulekha (novel) on the respective page. As per your edit on 05:05, 29 May 2014, The novel has been translated into many languages. Kindly do the quantification of the many and clarification of languages, both are tagged as per the requirements as on 16 February 2015‎. Information given might be in accordance with the cited article from the Mathrubhumi Illustrated Weekily, but its better to rewrite with additional references or as a quotation by the respective authors, if you are not sure about the details.
Happy Editing
(harith (talk) 04:03, 23 May 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Completely agree with your point that these books are better known by their original title. I will request a page move soon. You may comment on the talk page if you felt so inclined. Regards, Malayala Sahityam (talk) 09:13, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Maarthaanda-Varma-comics.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Maarthaanda-Varma-comics.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:42, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problems

[edit]

To editor Kelly:
The files, File:Maarthaanda-Varma-comics.png, File:MarthandaVarma Reprints.png, and File:Marthandavarma-Translations.png are created by myself in Adobe Photoshop 7.0 using the cover art displays from the respective publishers. I shall arrange the consent e-mail as required, if applicable unless it doesn’t need to be accompanied by e-mails / consent letters from the individual publishers of the editions; if other-wise I shall rather seek respective e-mails or consent letters, whichever the associated ones are ready to provide. Kindly confirm the requirement of individual consents from each of publishers (mentioned in the source parameter of Information). In case being unsuccessful on availing from all, we shall change the {{Information}} to appropriate {{non-free fair use}} as applicable.

@Bazj: Hi, Thanks for the changes and update. Italics is better not to be used in non-Latin scripts as that may cause confusions in understanding the combined-gylphs usage in scripts like, Arabic script, Telugu script etc.—(harith (talk) 01:44, 29 September 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Sandilyan Novels.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 11:36, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MARTHANDA VARMA 1933.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:MARTHANDA VARMA 1933.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:26, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
