Orphaned non-free media (File:Krakow 2022.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Krakow 2022.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:52, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Franck Pourcel.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Franck Pourcel.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:29, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Alban Ceray

The article Alban Ceray has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WOT?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. A tag has been placed on Prichal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

No pages link to this redirect, making it unnecessary.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Invitation to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of EatZi's for deletion

[edit]

This is a courtesy message to notify you that the article EatZi's is being considered for deletion. All editors, including you, are welcome to discuss this at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/EatZi's until a consensus is reached. The nomination and discussion are expected to focus on the quality of evidence and the policies and guidelines which are of concern. Please be aware that there are a number of arguments to avoid in a deletion discussion.

Users are encouraged to edit the article during the discussion, particularly in ways that address the concerns raised in that discussion. However, please do not attempt to remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article— doing so may be considered an act of bad faith and will not halt the deletion process. Thank you! Your contributed article, Matthew Dominick

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Matthew Dominick. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – NASA Astronaut Group 22. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at NASA Astronaut Group 22. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. PamD 12:58, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NASA astronaut candidates

[edit]

There seems no point in creating tiny stubs for these people, sourced only to their employer NASA, when there is slightly more information (occupational info) in the article for the group at NASA Astronaut Group 22. Rather than create so many little stubs, please concentrate on making useful articles one at a time, with other sources, and including more of the information that you have available. As it stands, I've had several thoughts about what we should do with these articles - PROD, redirect to the group article, or use CSD A10 because the articles don't add anything new. They are not an asset to the encyclopedia at present.

Please also note that when you create an article like Robert Hines (astronaut), with a disambiguator in brackets, you need to add a hatnote or disambiguation page entry at Robert Hines so that people can find the article. I've done it in this case. PamD 13:07, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hektor Could you point me in the direction of the policy/guideline that says astronauts are automatically notable? I'd like to point out that we're not talking about people who have actually traveled to space here, I'd say you have a point with that but people who are merely candidates and simply trained to do so. Your draft article, Draft:The Incredibles 2

[edit]

Hello, Hektor. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "The Incredibles 2".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. —AE (talkcontributions) 15:06, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

War of the Worlds

[edit]

Please don't assume that I was being "US centric". I'm not even in the US, nor do I even know when the series premieres in the US. I was basing it off of the reliable sources in the article stating that the series was set to premiere on 30 October. It was not yet 30 October. -- /Alex/21 21:55, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide a reliable source that supports that it has aired in another country? If not, the additions will need to be reverted. -- /Alex/21 13:23, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here Ep 1 and 2 were broadcast on broadcast TV on Monday evening in France and Tuesday evening on Dutch TV. FYI all episodes are available for streaming in Europe on the MyCanal web service. Hektor (talk) 13:27, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the source, and it's appearing as six episodes. Thus, I don't believe it matches up to the original eight episodes (likely it's been merged and re-cut as six episodes for the French broadcast), much like how the other The War of the Worlds UK miniseries is three episodes but aired in New Zealand as two. Best to stick to the original order as listed in the FOX source provided. If anyone adds that the whole series became available on MyCanal, a source is needed to support that as well. -- /Alex/21 13:59, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another source which list eight episodes. I can confirm that MyCanal has eight episodes to view in French. I can make a screen grab if you want.Hektor (talk) 14:01, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, screengrabs are not reliable sources, as they can be modified. It has to be reported by a secondary source. -- /Alex/21 14:09, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok we have this source for eight episodes and broadcast of the Ep 1 and 2 on Monday Oct 28 in France. I am not sure there is any secondary source on the content of MyCanal. I can produce a secondary source that says that all TV series which start broadcasting on Canal + have immediately all their episodes on MyCanal but you are going to tell me that deducing from that the fact that all episodes of War of the Worlds are on MyCanal is OR ? No ? Hektor (talk) 14:23, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's not WP:OR, but self-published sources are not accepted per WP:SPS. -- /Alex/21 21:54, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Found one! I've added it to the article. Happy watching. -- /Alex/21 23:49, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Even though I could have published the article by myself, I preferred to submit it to the «Article for Creation» process, and in fact previous reviewers gave me the opportunity to improve the draft further.

In a couple of weeks another honor - the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross - will be bestowed upon Edwin Foresman Schoch, a well-noted test pilot dead in 1951 on his 35th birthday while investigating metal fatigue issues affecting the McDonnell F2H-3 Banshee.

About the relevance of Ed Schoch, it suffice to Google for:

About my draft, it was thoroughly researched, with 28 selected references cited. I'm in contact with Ed Schoch's son and I had access both to unpublished and published information - that I duly and extensively cited.

After being initially declined, my draft was extensively reworked. I wonder whether You are in the position to approve it for publication, and whether you deem that it may be published.

Here is the link: Draft:Edwin Foresman Schoch

I am submitting this very same request to a few selected Wikipedians in the hope to get the article published before mid-January, when Governor Cuomo is expected to sign the bestowal act of the Conspicuous Service Cross to Ed Schoch.

Many thanks for Your attention, all the best and an happy 2021!
