Route 51

[edit]

I changed your article to a redirect to State Route 51 (Pennsylvania) and merged the content (though I don't think Tambellini's is notable enough for mention). I know there's been a lot of debate on the naming conventions for routes; now that I'm looking again, it's still not clear to me if there is a universal convention for all state highways, or if it's a state-by-state basis. We can swap the article/redirect pages if I'm wrong. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:47, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lehigh Tunnel

[edit]

Excellent work on starting a stub for the Lehigh Tunnel! Now all we need are articles about the Blue Mountain Tunnel and Kittatinny Mountain Tunnel, and we'll have them all. SchuminWeb (Talk) 08:34, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Penn State Welcome

There are a number of Penn State Wikipedians around here; I invite you to check out the Penn State Wikiproject dedicated to building up articles related to the University. Welcome! GChriss <always listening><c> 06:20, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey you can also put the radio stations under Category:Xinjiang this way it connects to the province. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:22, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi really good but I mean't in addition to the Chinese Mandaruin radio categories. Good luck Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent I see you have done this. Top job. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:31, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Radio stations by language

[edit]

I don't think it's necessary to double categorised radio stations to both the Chinese and the Mandarin categories. The Chinese category shall serve as the parent, and for Chinese languages that don't currently have their own categories. — Instantnood 15:37, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:1380.jpg)

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:1380.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sue Anne 05:44, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stubs

[edit]

Hi. Could you please add more to your articles beyond "x is a radio station in y?" Anyone researching the subject already knows that. What's the format? History? Talent lineup? Owners? There's a lot of info that can be added beyond an introductory sentence. Thanks for contributing! - Lucky 6.9 03:22, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Almost forgot...

[edit]

...that I wrote a couple of radio station articles: KPLM-FM and KWXY-FM. Hope these help you. Feel free to use the taxobox for your projects. - Lucky 6.9 03:28, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to help. I had a feeling that these were works in progress. Trouble with the local stations in my area is that trying to find anything historic on them is a real challenge. So far, the two I did were the only ones I could easily verify. Have fun!! - Lucky 6.9 03:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Thanks for creating Pennsylvania route articles. Feel free to keep creating new articles. Keep in mind, however, that the articles should follow the standards as set by WikiProject Pennsylvania State Highways. Please check it out! We commonly use PAHighways.com as a good source for termini information as well as route lengths.

P'Cola Radio Template

[edit]

Hey, thanks for adding the Pensacola radio infobox. It adds substance and also shows that we need a lot of articles still to flesh things out on the Gulf Coast markets; and hopefully, someone with knowledge will be able to get to work. I may write the stubs, just to spur activity. A thought on the infobox, however. The Mobile template would be very similar, at least for FM stations. You'd add 88.5, 92.1, and 106.5 and that's about everything. Both markets are full of 100,000 wattt FM stations, and most of the FM stations have their transmitters in Baldwin County, Alabama -- midway between the two (technically in the Mobile Arbitron market). The signals on the major stations are citygrade in each. I have no idea how to add or include one of those infoboxes. Could you either build a Mobile box or expand the infobox to include both markets? The latter might be the better idea, since the markets are virtually identical. Thanks for uploading Image:PA-550.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. YellowDot 02:08, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KFBK

[edit]

Hi there. I rv'd your addition of the Chico Market box to KFBK since KFBK officially calls Sacramento home. I can hear Los Angeles stations from Santa Barbara, but that doesn't make KFI part of the Santa Barbara market. If Arbitron counted Chico as part of Sacramento's terrestrial cume that would be different, but they don't. Skadetdom 18:17, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Short articles

[edit]

Hi! Short articles are welcome, but "x is a radio station in y" are a bit too short. Can you add some more content to these? They're on the verge of a speedy deletion for lack of content/context as they stand. Thanks and have fun! - Lucky 6.9 01:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I happen to a broadcaster. Radio station articles are cool.  :)

  • That be them.  :) The taxoboxes were a tip-off that you were going to expand these, but they were on the borderline deletion-wise. Just didn't want to see them get clobbered by another admin. - Lucky 6.9 02:03, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CCTV 7.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:CCTV 7.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ResurgamII 01:11, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Jjc104. You simply add a fair use rationale (See here). I didn't see other ones for the CCTV because I only look at the image file list randomly.

[edit]

(added here just in case you missed my reply on my discussion page)

Because you have the logo (I'll cut you a break), add this under a header called "Fair Use Rationale" on the image's main page:

Fair Use Rationale

  1. It is a low resolution.
  2. The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
  3. The logo's inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of this article (the company).

The above is only a general example; for what information to be included in this entry you can review the description of fair use and access the ten-point review process used in making a decision about whether it could possibly be applied in Wikimedia here. The information should be as specific as possible, i.e. why you need to use the image as part of the article. Remember to put any information about the copyright owner on the image page after you upload the image and mark it "fair use." The rationale text should be mentioned in the actual article so that it is part of the article and anyone editing the article can see it but it is in the text not the talk page. It can also be mentioned on the talk page for a discussion with other Wikipedia contributors. Adding this information is no guarantee that the image will not be later removed, but it will demonstrate a rationale to others that you may have a valid justification for including "fair use" materials that can be used under the GFDL.

Remember there is no "general rule" about fair use, each "fair use" must be explained and a rationale must be established for that specific use (i.e. every page that uses the image will have a distinct rationale for using the image on that page even though fair use is claimed on the image page).

P.S Removed that 'no rationale' template after you add the appropiate text to the image. Make sure also that all images you upload have this fair use rationale. ResurgamII 01:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know you've been a help lately in expanding the number of radio markets with templates (even those with no station articles whatsoever), but isn't having a template for radio markets in the New York City area overkill? Between that and the (useful) state market templates, some of the market templates have as much space taken by other templates than station listings. Is it really necessary, useful, and relevant to keep this template? Scrabbleship 18:29, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Buffalo template that you removed from the article, I just wanted to let you know that while I personally agree with the removal, the main issue is that there's always been a bit of a tug-of-war between those who believe (as I do, and as you seem to as well) that a radio station's article should only include the template for a station's originating market, and those who believe that an article should include the templates for all primary radio markets that exist within the station's entire transmission range (i.e. if Buffalo listeners have the capability to tune in the station, then Buffalo's template should be on the article even though the station originates elsewhere.) I've thought in the past about initiating a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Radio Stations about this — so I guess I'll do that now, and would invite you to offer your input if you'd like. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wlak.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wlak.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Hey! I was surprised to see that this little template was created. Thank you for preserving the basic formatting rules I had established with the other Michigan templates recently. I'll work on integrating it in the other lists as I'm once again attacking them. Thanks again! JPG-GR 21:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, I made a couple of minor adjustments to the template — for instance, "CBON18" and "CBSM" aren't actually going to have their own articles, as they're both just rebroadcasters of stations from Greater Sudbury, and CKCY and CFYN should actually have been listed in a separate "Defunct stations" section. Nice work, though. Bearcat 03:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! As a contributor to this template, I figured I'd take the time to let you know of my "view" for this particular template. If you have any comments/critiques, please let me know.

At this point, I think it best to make separate templates for SSM for the Michigan stations and for the Canadian stations. The reasoning is two-fold: (1) to keep stations which belong in the Category for Michigan radio stations and the stations which belong in the Category for Ontario radio stations (if such a category exists) separate and (2) to maintain consistency in the designs of the templates (the current template works well with the Michigan templates, but not with the Ontario one).

Regardless, having this template will create problems with Template:Marquette Radio, which already has the Upper Peninsula stations lumped into it (at least, those that existed in the lists prior to this weekend). But, that's a whole other obstacle that I'll get to later this week.

Thanks for your time! JPG-GR 06:24, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:105theriver.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:105theriver.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi - I see you have recently created two new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub types are currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for these stub types. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 06:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian call signs

CBCK should actually have been a redirect to CBO-FM, the specific CBC Radio One station it rebroadcasts, not just to the network in general. And CHXL doesn't exist anymore; its call sign was changed to CJPT in 2001. Bearcat 09:42, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the corrections on the Arbitron market rankings on the Frederick, MD and Morgantown, WV markets. If you wouldn't mind, could you check my contribs (I have updated some other templates) and make sure I have the market rankings right there too. I think I do, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra set of eyes looking 'em over. Thanks...NeutralHomer T:C 02:59, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem, no rush :) Wonder why Johnstown got dropped. It was #190 (Winchester, near where I live, is 222) so it wasn't that far down the list. Strangeness.
Anyway, take your time, it's no real big rush. Sleep first, though. :) Take Care...NeutralHomer T:C 03:03, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just wanted to give you a heads-up....I think the plan with the radio market templates is to combine the seperate AM and FM templates into one with the new NavBox template. [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Woxx.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:26, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of WLXG

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on WLXG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because WLXG seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting WLXG, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. I seen no AFD for the WLXG article, so I removed the tag. - NeutralHomer T:C 22:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kqpn.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kqpn.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:49, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
