List of Letters Patent

[edit]

John, the List of types of letters patent (British monarchy) is not a complete list of letters patent, despite this being the list supplied in Steve Elibank's FOI request. Off the top of my head there are also letters patent for:

  • granting arms,
  • amending a grant of arms,
  • establishing new medals,
  • varying the original letters patent for medals,
  • establishing new orders of chivalry (not used often, most recent ones were in Commonwealth countries), and
  • varying the statutes (or equivalent depending upon the order) for orders of chivalry.

There may well be others as the list supplied in the FOI application appears to be primarily letters patent issued in the course of executing government business. The College of arms website has details for granting/amending arms. I haven't sourced letters patent for British Medals (MoD might be one source), Letters Patent for the newer Australian Medals are typically found in the Australian Government Gazette (incorporated into a special gazette) and on [www.itsanhonour.gov.au Its An Honour] and, for the military ones, on the Defence [www.defence.gov.au/medals website]. Letters establishing/varying orders of chivalry are typically found through the London Gazette eg Order of the Bath, Statute Amendments 1847 (for others see the references to Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom and to the Wikipedia articles on the respective orders). North West Employers moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to North West Employers. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 08:06, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
