Hi. I am Aksi_great. I noticed the edits you made to Nadiad. Here are some links which may be helpful to you if you are interested in India related articles. Do feel free to contact me if you need any help.
What you want is a user-box. Wikipedia:Userboxes explains all about userboxes. I am not exactly sure about current policy, but I think at present the creation of new userboxes is not encouraged. I will think about creating a box for Amdavadis. After all we can always Ignore all rules! (just joking.. don't break rules anywhere :)) There are other users from Ahmedabad too. Srikeit and Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington live in Ahmedabad and both of them are admins. You can contact them for help in deletion, blocks and that sort of stuff. Also, check out the Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai for model articles. Try and model the Nadiad article like those articles. - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 14:00, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that a separate type makes conceptual sense, but the stub creation size guidelines strongly suggest waiting until there's sixty articles before splitting out a new type. If not, then I'd suggest a separate template, feeding into the same category. By my reference to "history", I meant that previously, several firearms sub-types were created, only to be deleted several months later with only a handful of stubs in each. Alai14:47, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A list is good. You may also find that stubsense is good in locating existing stubs in one-or-another categories... (Only works if said stubs have both stub tags, and appropriate permanent categories, though.) Alai14:54, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This category appear to remain rather small; are you still actively re-sorting to, or populating this category? Alai05:00, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I don't think I would, unless their use was essentially exclusively in the context of making artillery shells. Hope that helps. Alai15:31, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have done good work on the article. There is lots of information, but it could be arranged into better sections. Take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities. There are excellent guidelines given for a city article. Try and divide the article into sections. History of Establishment could be divided into origin of name and history sections. Similarly edcuation, geography, climate, culture sections would make the article look better. Things like Garba, Gaekwad of Baroda could be wikilinked. Hope this helps in improving the article. - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 07:27, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Performing Community: Thanks to many contributors like you, we're proud to share that our community is the third most performing community. It has more than 50 FAs related to India, to its credit, lagging only behing Wikiproject Biography and WikiProject Military History.
The Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment statistics for India related articles show there are 51 Featured Articles, 5 Class-A articles, 16 Good Articles, 101 Class-B articles, 167 Start-Class articles and more than 4000 Stubs. There were more than 10000 unassessed articles related to India.
Welcome. It has been weeks and months since the idea of newsletter was mooted among the WikiProject India Community. This would be our first full-fledged edition of our Newsletter, and we'd like to start by saying we are very happy to have you among us.
This is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips here. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know.
Advertisements for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. We'll run special sections, and recurring columns in the coming issues.

Cartography Department (Shortcut:WP:INMAP): The Department of Cartography within the WikiProject India is a group of wikipedians who work on providing quality maps related to India. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information on places, districts and states of India. As a thumb rule, maps serve better if they are in SVG format. The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Contact the Cartography Department to learn how you can help in making the best maps in Wikipedia to be India-related!
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may mention it at WikiProject India Outreach Department.
Name change of cities in Karnataka: A straw poll was conducted on the proposal to change the name of cities in Karnataka, per the Nov 1, 2006 decision by the Karnataka government to rename them from the current anglicised forms. The result of the poll was to change the names. As controversial as the decision may be in the real world, the article Bangalore in Wikipedia still reflects the old name. You may be interested in knowing why. Dig the archives.
New Project Noticeboard (Shortcut:WP:INB):WikiProject India now sports a new colourful centralised noticeboard. An effort to make the noticeboard current and dynamic was mooted a few days back, and Ganeshk came up with the new format. The new noticeboard will strive to be the one-stop shop for all project related information. The shortcut is WP:INB.
Members List: The old members list is being phased out to give way for the new members list. New members are requested to add their names to the new members list. As the newsletter grows, further issues of the Project Newsletter will be delivered to those enlisted in the new list. So dash down now, to check if ur name is in there.
Congratulations to all contributors who helped to develop the above content to represent the best of Wikipedia!

Welcome to the December 2006 edition of our newsletter. Time flies past like matter into the black hole. It is interesting to notice that we are already into the last month for the year of 2006. 2006 saw discussions and development beyond realisation. In the world of Wikipedia where quality counts than quantity, we have come a long way. We've made better than 'nothing', to say the least, and even that is an achievement. I take this opportunity to thank everyone including those who have dotted the i's and crossed the t's.
As before, we'd like to stress, this is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know. Sponsored content for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. We'll be very happy to include them here.
Before we sign off, Advance New Year Wishes, everyone.
The rating process gains more significance as we try to sort out which articles and which topics need more attention to balance the India related systemic bias within wikipedia. As a thumb rule, anyone can rate any article based on the related criteria, within the Stub/Start/B/A levels. However, ratings for Good Article Status and Featured Article status go through the nomination processes.
How to?: The "how to" part of assessment is very simple. Just head on to the talk page of any India related page and you'll find the {{WP India}} template. Simply classify the article based on the content and the criteria mentioned here. You can find the detailed instructions here. If you think it may qualify for GA/FA status, first consider submitting the article for peer review.
You are receiving this newsletter because you part of Wikiproject India. If you'd like to change your subscription options, please say so at the Outreach Department.
Hello. Just dropped in to say hi. How's the work on Nadiad progressing? Also - can you please enable your email facility in preferences? - Aksi_great (talk) 09:24, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
What is India?:Recently, there have been ongoing discussions here which discuss the stated issue of "India" the historical region is different from the Republic of India. It consisted also of modern Pakistan and Bangladesh, but a search for "India" automatically redirects to the Republic of India. Should there not be a clarification? . This comes in light of clashes on articles such as Panini, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, regarding the status of the individuals.
Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.

This includes both translating articles from and to other-language Wikipedias as well as assisting contributors with non-English sources. The department aims to provide services in transliteration, formulating scripts for various languages, as well as translating articles from one language to another and validating sources in other languages to that of the encyclopedia article. If you are looking for a friendly translator here is your go-to point. Currently, we are still seeking representation for Kashmiri, Nepali, Oriya, Sindhi and Tulu, as well as reinforcements in all other languages.

Jimbo's visit to India and the WikiCamp in Chennai: Jimbo recently visited India in late February and early March on wiki work. This included a trip to a WikiCamp in Chennai. The one day conference attracted 300 participants from across India and beyond dealt with issues facing wikis ([1]). It was widely covered by the press, eg The Hindu( [2]), which cited the efforts of Bhadani (edit count), Sundar (leadership on Tamil Wikipedia) and Ganeshk (Creation of Ganeshbot to create articles on Indian towns from census figures). Ganeshk himself travelled from California to attend the conference.
Wikipedia Weekly 15: Wikipedia Weekly, a informal Wikipedians' program that purports to give "A weekly audio roundup of Wikipedia happenings with news, interviews and roundtable discussions" recently interviewed two prominent editors Rama's Arrow and Ragib(listen). The entire 34 minute interview was entirely about the world of Indian subcontinent wiki-happenings, and was the first episode which was not entirely dominated by discussion of wiki-politics and wiki-bureaucracy, with the host Witty lama praising the efficiency of the project and its proliferation of featuredcontent. Rama's Arrow cited the team spirit, friendship and respect among project members in discussing its success and FA productivity, as well as discussing subcontinental wiki-conflict. Ragib talked also of his public campaign to raise awareness of the Bengali Wikipedia in his native Bangladesh, which has seen a 30-fold increase in article count over the past year.
Arbitration: Three cases are either in progress or have recently ended.

Hi. Thanks for your message. Yeah. I have seen that report... extremely interesting and informative. I'll try and add the info when I get time. Had exams till now. So should be able to do it soon. About the Kaveri Marine, It would be a good idea to post it in the Kaveri page. I have done some editing on the Kaveri page, and I'll add this info as soon as i can. Hope to see you back on editing and improving the LCA page. Cheers. Sniperz1109:43, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Jmlk1708:25, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The category is just like other categories in Category:Neighbourhoods in India. In India, most people use the term "locality" or "area" instead of "neighbourhood". If you feel the category should be renamed, you can request so at WP:CfD.
As about articles becoming invisible in the main cat, if you want to see all the articles in Ahmedabad category (including articles in its subcategories), you can use Special:CategoryTree tool:
I agree that wikipedia is not for advertising. But I do believe it is for the purpose of creating awareness also. Other wise why do you need external links at all. This is not my site that I am advertising. I am a volunteer registered to that site. I have taken up a task for creating awareness about the importance of such a site. There are many such sites available through out the world, but there are very few in India (and that too targeting specific activities like children, etc.) According to me anything which is misleading on reading is spam. The links which I added clearly stated what they were for. The idea here was to have people from different major cities register to the database (to create an equal distribution) and hence I added them to the pages of each major city. And how did you assume I was a "him"? Hi Kaushal. With reference to the Arjun MBT page, I was wondering if you have any info about the Mk. 2 variant. I'm not able to find much info... all that I'm seeing is upgrades to the Mk 1 itself. Sniperz1115:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Yeah... I had the same opinion as you (that Mk2 is just the total of upgrades). There is no info that i could find, so I just wanted to make sure. Guess we'll have to wait for MoD or DRDO to give info. But if there is to be a Mk2, I think it would most likely include a new indigenous, more powerful engine with a better APU. Plus, air-conditioning for crew, and a CITV sight. IA also wants an all-electric traverse, which DRDO is working on. Better armor is also on the way I guess. Cheers. Sniperz1106:58, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The MECON Solid state-cooling system is really a stop-gap measure, and was installed because there wasn't enough power to spare. A proper air-conditioned, climate controlled system is always better, and most probably will be installed once the Arjun gets more power. Another cool technology that can be incorporated into the Arjun would be overpressure in the crew cabin, which creates higher air pressure than the surroundings. This helps in NBC protection, as well as preventing fumes from outside entering the tank.
As for the other stuff, a CITV (Commanders Independent Thermal Viewer) allows the tank commander to independently mark targets and hand over to the Gunner to target and fire upon. It helps improve effectiveness of the tank, as well as giving better all-round awareness. The All-electric Traverse (already used on the Challenger 2) is basically using only electric power to turn the turret and raise the gun, instead of the unreliable, power-hungry and expensive hydraulics that is being used now. A longer, more powerful gun, NERA and NxRA armor and a remotely controlled Air Defence gun are also on the cards. I think all these will add up to make the Mk 2. Just speculation though.
As for the Brahmos, I have read about it. I'll add it into the Brahmos page. This was in the news since the last test. There was the nice report "Brahmastra" by subramaniam (I think) about this test. The problem is that there isn't much information about whether this version is a Land-attack version or just a land launched coastal protection version. The latter seems more likely. More news from Indian missile front is coming up.. I'm hearing that tests will be conducted of the sub-sonic LACM that ADE is developing (based upon the Lakshya). They have already done some propulsion tests till now. SLBM and Brahmos Air and Sub launched are also on the way. AAD test is also due. Sniperz1109:16, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, no. The arjun doesn't have a CITV yet. It has an independent optical sight for the commander, which is good for viewing, but can't lock targets. For that, the common IGMS is needed. We just have to wait and watch. Anyway, I loved ur userboxes (I took a few of them for myself). You could also try using the collapsible userboxes that I use on my page... works nice for me (see User:Sniperz11/Userboxes for the syntax, if you want to use it). Actually, I'm from bangalore as well. Visited IISc loads of times (did a project there as a matter of fact). Beautiful place to study. Cheers. Sniperz1110:20, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I took the menu from another guy's page (my wiki adopter's), and played around with the settings. If you want to use it, you can find my menu at User:Sniperz11/menu (my subpage directory is at User:Sniperz11/Subpages, if you want to use any stuff). Another nice place to get menus is User:Andrew Hampe/Templates/Menus, which has a really cool collection of menus to directly use, or to use the individual images as well (best is to create a user sub-page, and put the menu there... makes it easy to transclude onto a page). We should meet sometime (I'm studying abroad now actually). Hope theres another wikipedia meet-up during the vacations. Cheers. Sniperz1110:42, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for uploading Image:Safari Magazine Cover.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot03:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is in recognition of your undying interest in improving Wikipedia and informing people about Indian Defence Matters. Keep up the good work and never give up. Sniperz1119:36, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the revised article - looks great! I'll add a few WikiProject:Aircraft finishing touches shortly. In the meantime, are you able to add the Sanskrit script for "Hansa" to the article, like we have for other Indian aircraft? --Rlandmann00:17, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
