Toolstation article

[edit]

You could have just taged the page as db-repost ... but now an admin/sysop has concluded that it was rewritten sufficiently so that it needs to go through the PROD / AfD process again. I've started it by tagging the page as PROD and I'll watch the page. If anyone takes the PROD notice off in the next four days then I'll just take it to AfD. I added comments to the talk page of the article explaining why I think it should be delete (non-notable company, blatant advertising). Thanks for catching this! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, you can ask me a question anytime by adding a comment to my talk page. Brian 16:02, 4 July 2006 (UTC)btball[reply]

Old Medley merge nomination

[edit]

Hi Ladybirdintheuk...a couple of quick comments on the merge nomination. When using the {{mergeto}} and {{mergefrom}} templates, please include a link to the talk page of the article that you're nominating to merge...the wiki format for the template is {{mergefrom|nominated_article|Talk:nominated_article}}. Also, once you've nominated an article to be merged into another article, please build a case for the proposed merge on the talk page of the nominated article (you can still add your thoughts to the Old Medley's talk page here. Hope this helps! AreJay 13:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: Arvède Barine

[edit]

Hi, forgive me if I have misunderstood, I am relatively new to Wikipedia and I only contribute occasionally. But one of the articles that I posted is concerns "Arvède Barine". That is her psyudonym, so I had to correct what you changed it to during the Wikification process, hopefully making it perfectly clear. Just wanted to let you know. Also, other changes were made by other editors, some are clear to me, some are not, because they reinserted text that I could not verify, and so decided to remove. Wikiproject Wikification

Hi there, I noticed you wanted to start a wikiproject on wikification, and I'd like to help. I have experience with wikiprojects before, I can help find members and do some template design where needed. I'm a member of the WP:BDC just like you, I made the purple headers :) Please contact me on my talk page if I can be of any assistance. --Draicone (talk) 21:55, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I may be able to create a small banner for people to use on their userpages emphasising the importance of the backlog, the basic goals of the project and how to join, as this would really boost member numbers if it were used a lot. --Draicone (talk) 20:50, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You recently removed the importance tag from Musical Monkey. The article, however, fails to assert the importance of the album; it only states that it is the fourth album by Guttermouth. Please either restore the tag, or improve the article so that it is clear why this particular album is notable. Thanks! --M@rēino 21:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well it seems that WikiProject Wikify is getting off to a good start as a wikipriject. I have been looking at the discussion on the main category page and I wonder if there is an issue there that could be addressed. Do we need a section that says basically what wikification is for, what articles can be wikified and what other processes may be more relevant (or something of that ilk) for people just searching for the wikify tag. Alot of aritcles seem to be tagged to be wikified wrongly.

Along that line of thought is there a reference anywhere of exactly what cleanup processes are around, how to tag them abd how to choose the relevant ones? If not perhaps we could work on creating one! --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 11:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm yeah its not a great resource is it? But yes I think it needs more prominence and perhaps a sentence or 2. I will think about that maybe. As to telling people on talk pages - yes it wont have a great affect but I have noticed some people who go around adding no end of wikify tags - alot of them wrongly so I posted on their talk pages a few times... Nevertheless I think I might make a template anyway for that purpose - we may as well try and notify some people! --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 11:43, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it does seem to be alot of RC patrollers who arte doing that. I think mostly because it is something alot of new wikipedians do to get involved (per suggestions or frm the project page) without reading up on what to tag and where! I know I was like that.. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 11:58, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Yep me again Im afraid :P, I was wondering how you work out the numbers for the wikify progress graph. DO you manually count up the last page in each sub-category to get the total or is there an easier tool? I know User:Dragons flight has a total pages to be wikified but is there anywhere else that lists the individual date categories? If you do count them all - kudos to you :D --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 11:27, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

God you must be mad :) well I dont have an easy way. Wikification template updates

[edit]

As a trusted member of the Wikification project and the only other person to way in on my feelings about the template updates...would you mind stopping by User talk:Rmky87 to discuss the template updates? The user is updating the template just because s/he likes to see numbers go down and finds it depressing when s/he has to update it with large amounts of additions. Would you mind adding your thoughts to this user? It's clearly not helping our project by having him/her update as soon as one article changes, it makes it impossible to easily see our progress. Metros232 20:50, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The article on the Vicariate Apostolic of Natal that you so hastily deleted (in a matter of a efw hours; the unknown time zone difference -as there are wikipedian son all continents- alone requires at least 24 hours so the editor might have a change to read it, and DON'T assume everyone goes online every day either) and clearly without doing your homework, clearly linked to a website which contains over 12,000 pages from the Catholic Encyclopaedia NONE of which is under copyright (contrary to fewer articles on the same website from later date, clearly not marked as CE), as they are all way over 70 years (in this case, since 1911), therefore there exists a long-standing project (see Wikipedia:Catholic Encyclopedia topics) to integrate and wikify them all; none of my hundreds of contributions from CE has every been succesfully challenged as copyrighted, nor any of the numerous other linking ones I know about.

  • Nor do I appreciate your baseless assumption (or gross sarcasm) that I would be a novice at Wikipedia - my watchlist is already over 9500 articles long (including my many redirects) on a wide range of subjects. If such hasty 'work' is what you call 'wikification', then don't do it at all; if, as I can only hope, this is an accidental error like we all make from time to time, then know that nothing makes me more venimous then needless data loss, but that is nothing personal, all the more as I don't recall ever having heard of you before (as very few user names suggest a female, I probably would have noticed at least that, especially as I appreciate the real insectivorous insect in the garden and have a soft spot for the British). Catholic Encyclopedia and other PD sources

[edit]

I have reverted you at Vicariate Apostolic of Natal. Wikipedia has thousands of articles taken from public domain sources, such as the Catholic Encyclopedia, the Jewish Encyclopedia and the EB1911. These are very often dated and biased, but perfectly legal to use. Please don't mark them as copyvios. up+land 18:24, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the proposed deletion template from this article on two grounds:

  1. WP:SCHOOLS is a proposed guideline and its notability standards do not have consensus.
  2. Even so, Coral Way appears to be rather notable on account of its role in establishing bilingual education programs in the United States. --Dystopos 20:14, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for Image:BBBand.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BBBand.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. Longhair\talk 10:00, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BBBand.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BBBand.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 07:56, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
