Archiving current discussions and deleting numerous valuable pages
[edit]Please don't archive current topics. In the last few days numerious wiki editors, in good faith, have complained that you've been deleting valuable pages. Archiving discussions that have been taking place on your discuss page less than 8 hours ago is not appropriate. It gives the impression that you are trying to hide the discussion. If you are embarrassed by the fact that so many people have complained about your deletions, perhaps the solution would be to stop deleting articles and not to hide away the criticism.
I trust that your motivation for all your deletions has not been entirely dishonorable. Though in many of the cases that I've looked through I would strongly disagree with your decision to delete. Pnelnik (talk) 14:45, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I would like to know how in 1 minute you decided my article was spam and should be deleted. I have over 10 references which I don't believe you checked in one minute. If you actually search Thetextpage in Google you will find it has over 700 results. Please give me feedback if I wrote the article like spam, I am new to Wiki and want to improve my writing. Thanks

Proposed deletion of Arkham (animated short film)
[edit]The article Arkham (animated short film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable fan film. The references are dead, and a Google search did not find sufficient evidence of notability in reliable sources.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Robofish (talk) 17:50, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Oleg Snetkov
[edit]Good afternoon, mhking! Article is mine, it has been removed from Wikipedia RadioFan 15:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC). I ask to consider that article is NОТ advertising, it is an English translation of available similar articles in Russian (http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%BD%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2,_%D0%9E%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B3) and a German (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_Snetkov) variant As I ask to excuse my English, unfortunately, it is not my native language, I use machine translation therefore discrepancies are possible. Thanks!!! Yours faithfully OLEG-DIRIGENT (talk) 14:53, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Removed speedy deletion tag: Reece syal
[edit]Hi Mhking! Firstly, thanks for helping out in CSD areas. I just wanted to inform you that I removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on Reece syal- because: the page is not nonsense - there is meaningful content. If you have any questions or other message, please contact me. Thanks Kingpin13 (talk) 16:21, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- I replaced the deletion tag you used (G1) with a A7 tag, because I do not think this article passes WP:CSD. But I do think that it passes CSD G1 (what you marked it as). Because the page is not nonsense, as defined at WP:PN. I could tell that the article was about a person, who was in love with a girl, who was in love with that person. Nonsense is generally considered a random string of letters or words (e.g. "svf fgf vfdv", or "hello yes na thanks lol wut?"). Remember it's important to use a CSD which applies to the article in question, because then the user gets a warning which is approatly kind, and suggests what to do (for example, it wouldn't be much good if someone created a spam page, and got a warning for an attack page). Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:29, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

ARTICLE EXPANSION

Hi Mhking, could you please help expand the below article with reliable sources, references, external links, disgography, etc? Unfortunately with the best of intentions I simply do no know how to add the information that adheres to the Wiki standard. Listed below are some links for this San Francisco California based artist and there are numerous references on the web as well.
Thanks so much. 02/02/10 (Jets23615 (talk) 00:28, 3 February 2010 (UTC))

The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. New Georgia Encyclopedia project is underway
[edit]Hi, I am looking for help with a major Georgia initiative. The New Georgia Encyclopedia ("NGE") has authorized Wikipedia to import and/or merge the following ten articles, which I have copied to project space:
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Jesse Hill
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Jimmy Carter
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Anne Cox Chambers
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Charles Lindbergh
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Nancy Hart
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Piano Red Perryman
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Georgia Department of Labor
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Trustee Georgia
Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Revolutionary War- Moved to mainspace, now at Georgia during the American Revolution
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Sumter County, Georgia
Our goal is to get these articles in top shape and merge or move them into mainspace as quickly as possible. If this turns out well (as I am confident it will), the NGE will permit us to import their remaining body of over 2,000 well-researched and well-written articles, which could pioneer a trend for other private owners of encyclopedic content to release their materials into our corpus. Please note that the original NGE articles (now linked in the required attribution section of each of the above articles in project space) have images, but NGE is unable to convey those to us at this time, as they are individually licensed by NGE. Finding equivalent images would, of course, be helpful. Also, please note that the NGE would like for us to parallel their selection of internal links (where they link to an internal NGE article, they would like for us to also link to our equivalent Wikipedia article). The first import, Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Jesse Hill, is substantially finished in this respect. If you could just pick one or two of those articles and touch them up, that would be great! Cheers! bd2412 T 19:20, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
The article makes a realistic allegation of notability, so I removed your speedy tag. Feel free to make any fixes that I suggested, source it, or send it to WP:AfD. Bearian (talk) 21:10, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Arioch, Mortuus
[edit]Daniel Rostén has moved about between bands under two different personas, one of which has been around 20 years and is famous, the other of which is not so famous but certainly notable. I appreciate the article is a little stub at present but give it a chance. This page deals with redlinks to Arioch on Funeral Mist and connects Arioch to Mortuus. Speedy deletion declined: Matthew Markoff
[edit]Hello Mhking. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Matthew Markoff, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I think there is just enough assertion of importance to pass A7 - a lower standard than notability. Let the PROD take care of it. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 16:24, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Colorheads2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Colorheads2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:52, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello Mhking. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mp3nity, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. Courcelles 22:17, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
A discussion has begun about whether the article Mp3nity, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mp3nity until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.
You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.—J. M. (talk) 19:09, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Declined A7 on Running on the cracks
[edit]If you read the CSD criteria carefully, it does not include books in the categorical list of things that can be speedied under that cause. While I don't agree that it's notability is questionable, I think that CSD:A7 is not the right answer for challanging it's notability. Hasteur (talk) 20:27, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Speedy tagging
[edit]Hi. Thanks for tagging Jackob maag just now, but WP:CSD#G1 wasn't the right tag to use. That is only for "Pages consisting entirely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history", i.e. "kh74*;9#$3i@@?n9i6" or "Yaaayyyyy LOL!!!!" This one said only "Jackob Maag is cool." That isn't incoherent text or gibberish, and it isn't WP:CSD#A3 no context, because the context is clear. The right tag is {{db-person}}, article about a real person that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. Read WP:CSD carefully; it's important to get the right tag, because that gives the right message for the article author, and also because if you can't find a suitable tag it probably means the article is not speediable. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:43, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough; I sometimes shoot from the hip without thinking. My apologies, and my thanks for the guidance! --mhking (talk) 23:01, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Mhkingapril3.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Mhkingapril3.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 06:07, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
