Using thumbnails of your images at Wikivoyage

[edit]

Hi, Petar. I'm an admin at Wikivoyage, the Wikimedia travel guide. I've inserted thumbnails of some of your great photos on Commons into Wikivoyage articles. I won't have a chance to email you each time I insert one, but since your photos are so good, I thought it would be good for me to give you the courtesy of informing you directly about this use of your photos on Wikimedia, but outside of Wikipedia. Bravo on your work!

All the best,

Your contributions to Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85/G80

[edit]

Hi Petar - You have made a considerable amount of detailed edits to the page Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85/G80, but as yet you have not provided one reference to show where this information has come from. The article is beginning to look more like an advert for the camera than a neutral account of the camera from third-party sources or even manufacturers information sheets. It would be really helpful if you could address this shortcoming. Many thanksParkywiki (talk) 23:50, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Parkywiki, i suppose i have to add some References ? I can put Panasonic http, otherwise i would put Dpreview, but that could be commercial for them and they are not producing that camera. For other, since i am user, and camera is still new, we hope we will get something better with time. I will spread with some of my good pictures. Maybe latter with small movie etc. --PetarM (talk) 07:20, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely you do! Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and ALL content must be based on reliable third party sources. See Wikipedia:Verifiability for guidance. If it's a brand new camera, you should cite the makers website or brochure. When proper reviews appear, you could insert and reference positive and critical comments for balance. It's best to put these immediately after a statement of fact - so called 'inline citations see Wikipedia:Citing_sources#Inline_citations There's a danger that unsupported technical information could be removed if it's felt that it's just repeating very detailed promotional material - that's not what Wikipedia is for, you see. Take a look at other camera articles - short and to the point, with references allowing a person to follow these to their source. Always help people to get to the source of information - don't just repeat it here. Take a look at Canon EOS 760D or Nikon D5. Keep up the good work - your contributions are welcome! The better they are, the better Wikipedia becomes Parkywiki (talk) 08:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Petar. I know English isn't your first language. (Your English is certainly better than my Serbian!) I hope you don't mind if I point out that in "Water droplet laying on a damask," the verb should be lying, not laying. [edit]

Please stop edit warring at Salmon as food and stop posting your angry messages on my talk page. I have opened a thread on the appropriate talk page where you can seek a consensus for your idea that your photo is a good illustration of a grilled salmon. --Epipelagic (talk) 17:29, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

I understand you should be rather protective of pictures you put in article space, but your revert also removed other improvements to the article I had made (I'd added some references on penne all'arabiata). So please be careful, and if you feel that your image really brought value to the topic at hand, re-insert it manually.

Speaking of images, having to work with offline versions of Wikipedia has made me weary of adding images for the sake of it: images quickly add to the file size and makes it harder for people with limited bandwidth to access that content (people that can be online like you and I usually don't care and I'm probably fighting a lonely battle, but so be it). I used to love galleries and now think they're one of the worst things that can happen. I hope you'll understand.

Non-free rationale for File:Imt rakovica.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Imt rakovica.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:28, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 Astana season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Subang (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:18, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2019 UAE Team Emirates season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mount Baldy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:07, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Tre Valli Varesine.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tre Valli Varesine.jpg.

Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:21, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].

Thank you!

Quick translation assistance

[edit]

Hi, just a quick query. On 1991 European Super Cup, I have used a source from Večernje novosti; I am happy enough with the vague machine translation from Google for the content I have added, but I wondered if you could provide me with a better translation for the title:

  • "Pančev: Zvezda je trebalo 1991. godine da dobije Junajted u Superkupu"

Google has suggested:

  • "Pancev: The star was supposed to win United in the Super Cup in 1991".

I assume it should be something more like:

  • "Pancev: The star who was supposed to beat United in the Super Cup in 1991".

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Harrias talk 20:37, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Harrias: Zvezda is team "Crvena Zvezda" or Red Star in English. Should be "Pančev: Red Star should won United in 1991 Super Cup". Which United i dont know. Manchester or some other. I dont follow soccer. --Petar Milošević (talk) 06:52, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agile frog

The agile frog (Rana dalmatina) is a species of true frog in the family Ranidae. Native to central and southern Europe, its brownish dappled colouring helps to conceal it among the leaf litter on the forest floor. This frog, about 5 cm (2.0 in) long, was photographed in the Golovec Forest in Slovenia.

Crankset

The crankset (also known as a chainset in the UK) of a bicycle is the component of the drivetrain that converts the reciprocating motion of the rider's legs into rotational motion used to drive the chain or belt, which in turn drives the rear wheel. The road-bicycle crankset depicted in this photograph was manufactured by Shimano, with two chainrings and 172.5 mm (6.79 in) cranks.
