redirect in R. Stevie Moore navbox

[edit]

I'm perfectly aware of that, I used the redirect to make sure we get a more realistic picture for the analysis in Talk:Bob Moore (executive)#Requested move 13 February 2024. --Joy (talk) 15:03, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure anyone navigating from {{R. Stevie Moore}} will be looking for his father, not the food executive. Besides, any analysis will be completely skewed now by the very existence of the RM. --woodensuperman 15:34, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's where the redirect goes, too, there's no change in functionality. --Joy (talk) 18:15, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear friend

Please take a good look at my edits. I'll be busy reading yours. -- Best Jamplevia (talk) 16:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A serious question

[edit]

You will possibly delete this without answering, but was wondering if you've actually created any navboxes. You dislike so much about them that other editors like, but you put a lot of attention on them. Do you have any favorites that you've created, or keep watch on because they are your favorites? Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:04, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've created loads. I like simple navboxes that are to the point. In fact I created {{Nancy Mitford}} just the other day. --woodensuperman 18:07, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't know you create them, thanks. The Mitford navbox could use a family section (much of her page is devoted to family). Randy Kryn (talk) 23:40, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely not, but there could be a separate {{Mitford family}} navbox to match the corresponding article. --woodensuperman 08:37, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Woodensuperman,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Template distribution

[edit]

Thank you for the clean and full distribution of the various American founding documents navboxes. Nice work. I'm glad you did it, as I don't understand how you were able to distribute the navboxes to the signatory and some of the other pages without editing the page itself (the mysteries of coding above my pay grade). Randy Kryn (talk) 10:42, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, creating redirects from the dedicated signatories navboxes helped. I'd have liked to have been a bit more thorough with checking everything, but hopefully I've caught most of them. I know we've had disagreements about this, but I hope you're happy with the result. It may need further cleanup, as I've tried to retain what was on the original large navbox, but for some there were already dedicated navboxes, so some links may have slipped through the net. --woodensuperman 10:46, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, quite happy. The full collapsed template was valuable in its connections to the topic (America's founding) but the result exceeded my expectations of distribution concerns. Will double-check some of the pages, thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 10:56, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just to follow-up on this, please make sure {{split article}} attribution is given on each of the templates related to the split. Thanks. Primefac (talk) 12:19, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac:  Done, although not sure I've missed something, as links to talk pages actually link back to the template pages themselves. --woodensuperman 12:47, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: K. P. Sharma Oli

[edit]

Hello Woodensuperman. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of K. P. Sharma Oli, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: target page history shows this move would be controversial. Thank you. Sällskapsresan (film series) moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Sällskapsresan (film series). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:58, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Woodensuperman,

I just closed this bundled AFD and when I was looking it over, I noticed that you neglected to inform all of the page creators about this AFD discussion, you only notified one. If you make bundled nominations in the future, please do not repeat this oversight, inform the article creators of every article included in the discussion. Especially with these articles, which had hundreds of edits, it's important that content creators are informed. I think if you use Twinkle to set up the AFD discussion, that program will take care of the notifications. But if it doesn't, then you should leave personal or template messages yourself. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:42, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and apologies. I used Twinkle, but only for the first one, don't think you can multi AfD in Twinkle. I guess I probably assumed all created by the same editor. If it gets re-instated will nom again properly. --woodensuperman 07:47, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of episodes of After Midnight

[edit]

I'm very disappointed by the deletion of the episode list on the page as it was my only tool to track when new episodes are supposed to be available. But the inconvenience to myself notwithstanding, I think the deletion of the content was incorrect for another reason.

I understand that you consider a "winners list" of a gameshow does not meet the "notability" requirement, but this is a "game show" in name only, and deleting the list of comedians and other celebrities appearing on the show is more akin to deleting a list of the hosts and musical guests on Saturday Night Live. (Yes, After Midnight doesn't have the cultural cachet of SNL, but the point still holds true.)

I ask you to reconsider the removal of information I personally consider critical, and that may actually meet the notability requirements when viewed in the suggested light. Dlairman (talk) 18:20, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's WP:INDISCRIMINATE information, and by no means suitable for an encyclopedia. Other tools to track episodes of TV series are available,[1][2] this is not what Wikipedia is for. WP:NOTTVGUIDE. --woodensuperman 08:13, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. presidents navboxes

[edit]

Would have been nice and helped if you had kept your comments up. It's become a mess, and right now even Watergate isn't mentioned on Richard Nixon's navbox, and goes downhill from there. The closer may become easily confused by the same points. Since I'm here (thanks for the tea and cakes) there has been discussion at the White House talk page which may interest you (although more of the same) and a point of contention seems to have arisen about president's homes being listed on navboxes (let them try removing Mount Vernon), including the White House, that could use much more input. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:58, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Randy, hope you're well. It's been a while (a good thing I hope!) Honestly, it's a mess, and to unpack everything that editor has commented would take up way too much of my time. Will put my comments back, but I'm not going into it with them, maybe the ANI will resolve the situation. --woodensuperman 14:45, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, and well, you too I hope. Thanks. I haven't looked at the ANI in a couple days, and better check on it later, thanks for reminding me. Navboxes are god's gift to Wikipedia, or at least a gift from somebody (wonder who came up with the things). Randy Kryn (talk) 14:57, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
