Hi Sango. I was just going to say I loved your Broadband page. Very impressive. Then I noticed you're a kiwi!! I'm from Wellington, but am living temporarily in Oz for quite a while now. Question on As/400 Edit today

[edit]

Just curious you left the phrasing of renaming but then referred to it as rebranding, shouldn't they both be written to match? Just curious, and I don't disagree with your addition just having a difficulty with the way it reads in total. Dpalme (talk) 02:20, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you discriminating again the free community, ski-forums.com when commercial sites such as SkiReport.com, SkiBonk.com, www.abc-of-skiing.com, snow-forecast.com, and more are left untouched?????????????

Heya Sango!

[edit]

Hi, it is me, Spawn Man the humble yet really great & awesome! ;) Anyway, I have a question. How the heck do you get screen shots saved onto your hard drive? This is what I've done so far:

1)Taken screen shot using PRINT SCREEN or ALT+PRINT SCREEN.
2)Been able to paste it to a WORD document.

I wanna be able to paste it to one of my drives, such as C: drive. Then I would be able to edit it, then upload it onto Wikipedia etc. But so far I can only get it onto a stupid word document. Any info would be great, as I notice you have a couple of screen shots on your user page. Thanks Sango! Spawn Man 00:23, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Try pasting it into the paint program in Windows. Then it can be saved in any "standard" format.

Hiya again!

Hiya again Sanngo! I was wondering, if you had time of course, if you could change the GA picture here to the same background as my user page. If you did everything the same as when you converted the FA star (casue the colour there was better), then that would be awesome! I'd ask for the A-class & B-class too, but there aren't any pics for those lol! Thanks Sango. You rock! Spawn Man 05:20, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exce-al-lento! Thanks once again Sango... Gosh at this rate, you should be an admin! Oh darn, too late.... ;) -- Spawn Man 10:29, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User boxes:

[edit]

Hi Sango! I have a query, if you're available or something... On my user page I've started experimenting with a new user box section underneath my "about me" section. However, I can't seem to get 3 columns running down. For example:

User boxes ---------- [] [] []

In case my awesome graphics rendering awed you too much ;) then you should know that the little suares were supposed to express small columns of user boxes. If you could help in any way, I'll do the adding user boxen part if you create the column outer shell using the example user boxes there, then I can then add the rest my self. I'm trying to spruce it up so I can get like an award for the deisng or something, if you can actually get those? In any case, this is only if you have time. I'm so sorry for bothering you all the time with user page fixes & changes. I'll get out of your hair if you ask.... Sorry, Spawn Man 10:49, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ohmigod, you rock

You have my friendship forever & I promise I wont bother you ever again... Thanks so much Sango! Spawn Man 23:36, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Except for saying, what the hecks going on there, about my user boxes. They're sorta going all over the place for no reason, & I'm kinda confused. If you could swing me in the right direction I will do the work... Spawn Man 01:02, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking, maybe I should delete the user boxen, as they seem to be causing too much trouble? Your recent edit to my page is sort of wierd cause the user boxes are down the bottom? Do think it would be better if I simply deleted them? Thoguhts... Spawn Man 02:10, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to have fixed them now though... :). I really wish I was as skilled as you with your html. And ohmigod, why are you on here fixing my crap when it's your birthday? Shouldn't you be out with your family & friends at a steak house or something before seeing a birthday movie? Spawn Man 02:12, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the cake, Sango — it was a favor that needed naught to be returned, but thank you! It's really good to hear from you again! Aw, thanks Sango! It wasn't required to remember my birthday, I didn't make it public info, so you didn't need to get a gift, but I appreciate your delicious ice cream. The green lemming, but this can double as a birthday wish!

Hiya Sango. Per the discussion at the Esperanza coffee lounge, we've thoguht to make an Esperanza mascot. I came up with the idea of a lemming (plus my fave pic on wikipedia!), & I even tried to colour it green! Not very well though! Anyway, I was wondering, after your birthday, you might be interested in placing the Esperanza logo on the lemming's belly etc so that it can be used as an official logo. Thanks Sango & have a very happy birthday too! Spawn Man 04:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mahawiki

[edit]

Hi dear Admin,

This is to bring to your notice the wiki-feud I've been having with User:Mahawiki for almost one month now. It started with the Belgaum page which went to mediation, warnings were handed out to both parties, and when Mahawiki's incivil ways continued, Admin:Bluyugen handed him a warning and then a block. Find that [1].

I do not want to turn the clock back and go through all those content disputes again. Infact, I dont want to present to you the details of any content dispute we've had. All I want to present to you is the brazen incivility and personal attacks being committed by User:Mahawiki either in the course of his content disputes or even simply just out of spite.

All the diffs(exhibiting his incivility and personal attacks) I provide below are from AFTER, I REPEAT, "AFTER". ADMIN BLUGYUEN INTERVENED, WARNED ALL OF US, AND HANDED MAHAWIKI A BLOCK.

Please find below dozens of instances of blatant incivility and personal attacks by User:Mahawiki either on me or on User:Dineshkannambadi and all Kannadigas in general. His remarks are in extremely bad taste and counterproductive resulting in undermining of the good faith efforts of the other editors to carry on editing their articles.

While I dont want to go into each and every diff and explain it, just to give you a sample of his incivility, he has made edits where, even if only in jest or sarcasm, he makes atrocious claims like, I am on a kill Mahawiki mission, that User:Dineshkannambadi is the Kannada (Bin) Laden(sic). In another edit, even if only for jest(which I certainly dont find amusing nor appreciate esp., when it comes from him), he has threatened to sue me. He has called us cultural TERRORISTS, losers, notorious, shameless etc., etc. He uses the word vandalism like one would use 'Hi' and 'Hello'.

Find all the above and much much much more in the diffs I've provided below. Whats worse is his antics are going unchecked because Admin:Blugyen who knows about our feud is on a wikibreak and Admin:Sundar whose intervention I've sought more than once, is busy with other things(I presume, in real life) - which ofcourse, I dont hold against either of them.

But wikipedia will be a poorer place if brazen incivility like this goes unchecked for weeks simply because many admins dont know about it or the ones who know are by force of circumstances, too busy to deal with it.

I request immediate and harsh action on Mahawiki.

Once again, let me remind everyone that in the links below, none of them pertain to any content disputes. I belive in dealing with the content disputes on the relevant talk pages and dont usually bring it out on user talk pages.

Infact, I have even not listed below, the atrocious claim he made a couple of days ago that I had deleted and later undeleted an article. Also not listed below is his blatant removal of {{fact}} tags I had added in a couple of articles without even clarifying or providing a citation for the claim which I had tagged. Also not listed below may be umpteen other instances of incivility and npa violations on his part that I might have missed.

All the diffs below deal purely and only with his brazen incivil comments and personal attacks not just on me, but on User:Dineshkannambadi and also highly respected historians like Mr. Suryanath Kamath et al(who have been cited in some articles by Dinesh) whom he has trashed and dismissed in the most uncivil manner possible.

Apart from this he also makes disparaging remarks on Karnataka and Karnataka politicians who he keeps claiming are oppressing and torturing Marathi speaking people in Belgaum. This is not a content dispute, this is plain nonsense and insanely belligerent language.

His incivility apart, he has made it a habit and a routine to go around all over wikipedia branding me and Dinesh as 'Kannadi' vandals bent on Kannadizing all articles we touch. Ask him if we have included any uncited material or if we has ever cited any references for his numerous claims or whether he has taken it up on the article talk page instead of on a random user talk page. His answer will be negative. And yet, that doesnt stop him from going around shouting that we have been vandalising articles!!

Anway, I dont want to veer this towards the 'content disputes' which is a whole different matter altogether. Content disputes can always be discussed and agreements reached. Let me present to you just his brazen incivility and personal attacks.

Here we go -

Thanks for the dessert! I love mille-feuille, but oh, the calories... Have you ever tasted it? The name literally translates into "thousand leaves" or "thousand layers", referring to the many layers of thin pastry that make up the desert. I guess the concept is something like baklava, but with an entirely different taste. They seem to call this dessert a "Napoleon" in the U.S. for some reason. I appreciate your gift, and its no-guilt, virtual calorie content. Thanks again! --Kyoko 19:31, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sango, a request

[edit]

I noticed you had a discussion about the removal of the Umbranet article. Because of the grounds that it was some kind of ad or whatever, an IRC network (and actually more community serving than many other IRC networks.....!!!). This has no grounds totally. Did you notify that there are many Wikipedia articles on IRC networks?? See the link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:IRC_networks

Please be consistent and delete all of them. Or bring the Umbranet article back. I wonder why you didn't brought up any further arguments and deleted because of a few people more voted for removal? Can you please bring undo this, or be consistent with all wikipedia articles related to IRC? Because there are much networks which are in here for ad-reasons. Umbranet merely contained information (just compare the pages..) and was linked with the bands (Epica, Afterforever, Within Temptation) which you BTW can verify on their official pages etc. I like to state that there was absolutely no ground for deleting this article and I'd like to see it back. Preferrably by undo, so I don't need to recreate and fill up the info. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.28.202.244 (talkcontribs) 13:41, 30 September 2006.

Hi Sango, I have a stray |} on my page again, just underneath the Wdefcon userbox. I still haven't learned the syntax for changing things like that, so would you mind removing it for me? Thanks. I hope all is well with you. --Kyoko 02:12, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Working Man's Barnstar and Barnstar of Diligence

[edit]

Hi! evrik suggested I contact you since you're associated with WikiProject Awards. After some discussion about changing the name of the "Working Man's Barnstar" to something gender inclusive, we realized that there is not much distinction between "Working Man's Barnstar" and the "Barnstar of Diligence". In order to avoid an overly-PC rename of "Working Man's", and given that there's not much difference between the two anyway, I thought it'd be best to conflate the two awards and have only "The Barnstar of Diligence." Your opinion on the matter would be much appreciated! The discussion can be found here. Cheers! -- Merope Talk 17:44, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox Categorization

[edit]

Hello yet again, Sango! I recently created the template {{User:Jitterro/Userboxes/NationStates}}, and I've been able to format it so that any page posting the userbox gets added to Category:Wikipedians who play NationStates; however, when I checked the category itself, neither the template nor any user posting it was listed (I have the userbox on my own userpage, and I wasn't in the category). Is there any way to fix this so that users actually get added automatically to the category? Thanks much! --Jitterro 23:44, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

red & blue?

[edit]

Hi Sango - You kindly left a welcome message on my page a year ago and it has taken me this long to get back to you.

Can you tell me why my name stays eternally printed in red - and others are blue? Many thanks. - douga6

could you beautify my talk page?

[edit]

Hi Sango, I was wondering if you could work your magic on my talk page? Looking at it, it seems so plain compared to my userpage and other people's talk pages. I love the purple/pink/lilac scheme of my userpage, and I was hoping to have that on my talk page as well. One possible complication would be the Macintosh WikiProject box, which is, well, boxy. No need to hurry on this request.

BTW, I made my very first userbox today, celebrating my love for stuffed animals! I hope that you are well. Thanks, --Kyoko 21:09, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another request: I've noticed that on my userpage, the top two boxes (talking about depression and useful links) are just a few millimetres longer than everything else. I've never noticed that before, and I don't know if that's something that everybody sees, or just me on my display. When you can, could you please fix this too? I know that you must be busy, and as usual, there's no rush. I hope you're OK. --Kyoko 02:24, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sango, through considerable trial and error, I've managed to make my talk page look like my main userpage. There is surely a more efficient way to do this, but my fumbling attempt seems to have worked. Take care, --Kyoko 05:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Sango123, I was surfing around and I found your page, and it sounds like you have a reputation for making good user pages! My page looks alright, but it's a little wonky (the edges don't line up on the right hand side) and I was (and still am) wondering if you could fix it, or at the very least give some tips on how I could sort it out.

Thanks, --CarrotMan 09:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted my first vandalism

[edit]

Hey sango123, might i ask: is there some sort of Revert button for users, to use on vandals? Because i recently did one manually on the article We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (film), where a random guy 68.219.167.227 ,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/68.219.167.227, vandalized the article with the words, ryan likes penis.

Do users normally report these vandals/trolls so they are blocked from editing or something? Do you normally report something like this?

Help if you can? Dumoren 09:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sango123, can i ask, why does wikipedia keep the entire history of an article, even the vandalism, i mean, is it not a waste of space or something?

There are several issues that the WikiProject needs to address.

  1. Do we need a coordinator (or more than one) to coordinate our efforts and act as an arbiter? Please place your thoughts here.
  2. Could someone work on archiving the talk page Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Awards?
  3. Do we need to develop better guidelines for the Wikipedia:WikiProject awards?
  4. Finally, could you please weigh in on the following discussions so we can move them to conclusion:
    1. LGBT Barnstar
    2. Islamic Award
    3. Working Man’s Barnstar.

Planetarium Manager

[edit]

I am writing to ask why exactly you deleted the article Planetarium Manager.

It was in August and yesterday i created the article again to see what would happen, i woke up this morning to find it deleted.

I understand that you did not delete it this time, someone else did, but i am sure if you had not deleted it in the first place, they would of not done this time.

The game itself is very good, and fun to play, and a lot of people have called for a Wiki article again recently. So i made one.

You say it does not get good enough hits with google, but, infact, it has gained about 10000 more hits since when you checked it, and if you take the " " out, you end up getting about 300000 hits. I understand that you say this is because of managers, but this is really only because of the coincidence of them being named similar. Other games like Hattrick are unigue, so get no other hits. And i am sure that if it was not named like this, it would get more hits.

Basically, what i am asking, is for you to give the article a chance, lots of people will enjoy reading it.

Hey Sango, when you get a sec could you tell me about relieving a page of its NPOV dispute tag? How does that work? Just curious - I'm trying to bring adultism up to snuff. Thx. Freechild 07:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sango123, another quick question: Is there a way to find out whether I'm completely whack and off-base, or a way to cry foul because so many Wikipedia editors are? An area of my interest on Wikipedia has been to develop and write article about topics that relate to youth voice. However, the articles I've written or contributed to are consistently criticized and ridiculed. I've faced 5 afds, and now the main article about my area of interest has been nominated to be merged into something else! Yeesh. I am frustrated and not sure whether there's any recourse... Any thoughts or suggestions? I appreciate what you've helped me learn in the past. - Freechild 22:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Line break" button in the new editor interface

[edit]

Hi Sango123, and Happy New Year!

I haven't been on Wikipedia so much in recent months, but I still dip in from time to time. I've just noticed that they've extended the editor with some new buttons. One of the is "line break" and adds <br /> tags to the article.

I've just encountered a new user who has used loads of <br /> tags in an article, making the layout look very untidy. I think the new editor is to blame for this. I don't see any need to use line breaks except in very rare occasions when the layout needs tweaking, and then I think advanced users are capable of entering it by hand. All the button does is encourage users to use line breaks instead of paragraphs or some other sort of Wiki formatting.

Where can I take up issues such as this? Who decides on changes to the Wikipedia site itself, as opposed to content? Mant thanks, JRawle (Talk) 21:28, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A request for assistance

[edit]

Would you support the concept of moving the Earhart "myths" to a separate page or article? The reason for my suggesting this is that the main article should be an accurate and scholarly work while the speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the disappearance of Amelia Earhart are interesting, they belong in a unique section. Most researchers, as you know, discount the many theories and speculation that has arisen in the years following her last flight. Go onto the Earhart discussion page and register your vote/comments...and a Happy New Year to you as well. Bzuk 05:02 3 January 2007 (UTC).

Sango123 has not edited in awhile. You may need to direct your request to another editor who is familiar with the article.--Dakota 05:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please unblock 202.76.162.34? No-one else is going to help me, so I bet you should! I hate that Samantha Blanning! 202.76.162.34 is the only IP address Sam has blocked infinitely! So please unblock that address! I don't want to create an account for 202.76.162.34! Since you were so nice as to unblock 202.76.162.34 once, I want you to do it again!

Sango!

Are you ok? It's been nearly four months now. We're worried. — Deckiller 10:20, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm Ral315, editor-in-chief of the Wikipedia Signpost. It appears that you have not edited in at least three weeks. To avoid spamming your talk page any further, should you be on leave, your name has been removed from the Signpost spamlist. Maybe leaving?

[edit]

My best friend on Wikipedia just left & I'm kinda depressed. Don't know if I'm gonna stay here. All my "friends" never message me cause they're all too busy. I've just realised nobody likes me on here anyway, so what's the point of staying. Just letting you all know. Don't know what I'm doing right now, so yeah, I don't know... Hi Sango,

Since admins can move pages over existing pages, could you please move Strtod to strtod? The capitalization is wrong, for when I was creating the page, I placed it in the wrong location. Thanks! MacGuy(contact me) 01:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. It was corrected via a method I didn't know of.
