[edit]Dear Sarangsaras, do you care to explain this edit? I'm one of the main contributors to the article, so I am very interested to know who you think I or my employer might be. Drmies (talk) 20:01, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Shamita Shetty, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Category
[edit]Thankyou for asking before making massive changes. Hell lots of differences between Category:People from Mangalore and Category:Mangaloreans. Category:People from Mangalore includes any notable person who has spent significant part of his/her life in Mangalore City. He/She may not be a native Mangalorean. Category:Mangaloreans includes native Mangaloreans, irrespective of being born anywhere. By native Mangaloreans, we mean that person should have an ancestral connection with South Canara. Ancestral connection may mean at least 200 to 300 years.
- Bollywood actress Preeti Jhangiani, being born in Mangalore and have spent significant part of her life there, is a part of Category:People from Mangalore. But she is not a part of Category:Mangaloreans, since she doesn't have an ancestral connection with Mangalore.
- Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, being born in Mangalore and have spent significant part of his life there, is a part of Category:People from Mangalore. But he is not a part of Category:Mangaloreans, since he doesn't have an ancestral connection with Mangalore.
- Shilpa Shetty, Sunil Shetty, Shamita Shetty being born in Mangalore, are definitely part of Category:People from Mangalore. But they are also a part of Category:Mangaloreans since they have an ancestral connection with Mangalore.
- Genelia D'souza and Freida Pinto being born in Bombay and have spent significant part of their life there, are not a part of Category:People from Mangalore. But they recognizing themselves as Mangalorean Catholics, having an ancestral connection with Mangalore, are definitely a part of Category:Mangaloreans.
Hope its clear. Not all People from Mangalore are Mangaloreans. Likewise, not all Mangaloreans may be People from Mangalore. KensplanetTC 06:07, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
