Nationality transfers

[edit]

Image:Garrinchab&w.jpg

[edit]

I agree this does not count as a promotional image, but I didn't know much enough about the policies when I uploaded this image. Anyways, this is a deceased historical figure and no free alternative is available, nor can one be created, so I guess this is still a legal fair use image, although the rationale has to be changed. Cheers, SportsAddicted | discuss 22:19, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note that just because someone is dead, it doesn't means we have a legal blanket permission to use any copyrighted picture of this person. Indeed, the fact that someoneis not available for pictures actually increases the value of the existing copyrighted images, and weakens fair use claims. We should be carefull when selecting pictures of deceased ones. Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 00:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, but what makes this picture unable to use to describe the deceased person in question? I can't find a reason why this would not qualify compared to others which do. SportsAddicted | discuss 00:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The copyrights of this image is what makes it "unable to be used to describe the deceased person in question". The image belong to a company (Corbis) that charges anual fees for individuals who want to use one of its images. Wikipedia content, on the other side, is supposed to be free for anyone to use how many time they please for any reason. ---- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Abu badali (talkcontribs) 05:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]
OK, I don't know Corbis, but from your comment I assume it's somehow the same sort of company as Getty Images is. That's a pity, but in that case we can't indeed do nothing about it. SportsAddicted | discuss 08:34, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cue sports

[edit]

Brilliant job on Cue sports at the 2006 Asian Games! NB, you might want to join WikiProject Cue sports - we can certainly use more editors with your attention to detail and thoroughness! — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 19:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I already have the project on my watchlist, however I'm not too keen on joining project like this as I'm interested in almost all sports and it would be hard to keep up if I would be a contributing member in these groups. I just do my things on Wikipedia and that will also mean that I work on cue sports every now and then :) Cheers, SportsAddicted | discuss 19:23, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SportsAddicted, i know you are the helpful person. Can i ask you to copyedit the BWF Super Series? there is very long, you can work it slowly or reject to do so, is never mind. However, if you willing to help, thanks and appreciated. --Aleenf1 17:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will not reject that :) Although my English isn't the best either I will have a look at it and give it my best. Unfortunately not now, but within the next few days :) It depends on my time and schedule, but I promise to have a look at it. SportsAddicted | discuss 01:57, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The already stored events can be found at Calendar of current and future sports events/HS, while the others I collect from sites day by day via the sites listed at User:SportsAddicted/NextUp. Anyways, I was a few days away and have to see wether I can keep up with keeping it this detailed. Otherwise we should continue with only the bigger events or so. What do you think? An editor has nominated Tour of the Bahamas, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tour of the Bahamas and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. The Working Man's Barnstar
I am a bit late, but Onomatopoeia, hereby award you with the Working Man's Barnstar award for all the time and effort you spent bettering the Feyenoord Rotterdam article, especially on January 23, 2007. I hereby want the same for Helmond Sport :D! —Onomatopoeia 12:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, your award was well-deserved. About Helmond Sport, it was more on a lighter side :D I follow Dutch soccer on NOS, and once talked with my Dutch colleague (Roda JC fan). He joked that losing to Helmond Sport — one of the tiniest clubs in the Netherlands — is seen as one of the worst insults in Dutch professional soccer. Seeing their utterly dreadful results (wikipedia.nl "Maar Helmond Sport komt van ver, want op dit moment staan ze tweede van onder en zal er nog heel wat veranderen moeten."), I have developed a soft spot for HS, just like for your "certified superplayer" Clyde Best. If you don't improve the Helmond Sport article, ok, if you do, even better! :D —Onomatopoeia 09:00, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, that's a fun story, good to see things like these happen all over the world even for tiny clubs like Helmond Sport. I'll see what I can do for you :) SportsAddicted | discuss 19:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Aviation proposal

[edit]

There is currently a proposal to create an Aviation WikiProject, which would serve to clarify how all the aviation related projects relate, and help with interproject editing. See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Aircraft#Proposal_Recap for how the projects hierarchy. Part of the reorganization proposes that, because of its very limited scope, WikiProject Red Bull Air Race World Series become a task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Aviation. For an idea of how task forces work, take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history. They have a number of task forces, listed here. As described by them, "task forces are informal groups of editors gathered for collaborative work on a particular topic within the field of military history; all project members are encouraged to participate in any that interest them." The benefit of such a system it that the sub-topics have all the resources of the overall project at their disposal. For instance, the Military history project banner, is placed on every military history page, and the related task forces are listed at the bottom of it. All military history related articles are thereby joined under one roof. I just happened to stumble upon your project, and had until now never realized it existed. By joining forces with another project you will benefit from increased exposure. If you have any ideas or comments, please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft. - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) 02:28, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hee, Ik vroeg me af of je gestopt was op Wikipedia... Hoop dat je het goed maakt. JACOPLANE • 2007-04-3 22:25

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ali Osram, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:Benthatcher.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Benthatcher.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 22:31, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:07bayclassicseries.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:07bayclassicseries.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:07bayclassicseries.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:07bayclassicseries.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:1984 Feyenoord Kampioen Cruijff.jpg

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:1984_Feyenoord_Kampioen_Cruijff.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Ilse@ 14:45, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Supersportlogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Supersportlogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:25, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:MarleenVanIersel.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Red Bull Task Force

[edit]

The Red Bull task force is fairly quiet, and has a grand total of 21 articles in its scope, and 4 members. Since there are many articles in the air sports area that have no project to look after them, and since Red Bulls articles would fall under the air sports scope, would you object to the scope of the task force being expanded to include air sports, and the task force being renamed and retasked as the Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Air sports task force? - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) —Preceding comment was added at 16:03, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
