[edit]Zereshk: I have to dispute something you are claiming as your work. Under the Jonesboro, Ar entry, I took the photograph of the Dean B Ellis Library when I worked there in the late nineties. I would appreciate you accepting responsibility for the mistake and giving me credit. Call me Commojo.

Not that i know of
[edit]I'd say just start out by selecting the best ones or the ones that you can't find similar ones of on commons. It could take time, but its worth it. It means that the stuff is then available for other projects to use. Especially it is good because smaller Wikipedias may not have such a good understanding of copyright as commons/en-wiki so if they can use images from commons they know they are ok and don't have to think about Copyright. - Francis Tyers · 00:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]You started this list a while back. It has since grown into a list of nearly every Iranian professor at every big University around the world. Encyclopeadia Iranica
[edit]Hi Zereshk, I have no problem with EI being used as a reference, and if it's a good external link that's fine too. That's why I moved the links to the talk pages instead of simply deleting them. But it's clear that Columbia University IP addresses have been systematically working their way through Wikipedia adding E.I. references to articles regardless of whether it was used as a reference or if it has information over and above the article's content. (See, for instance, Special:Contributions/160.39.32.153 and Special:Contributions/160.39.32.132). This looks like clear and simply promotion of E.I. by the institution and I don't think such links should be left on articles. -- SiobhanHansa 17:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Ahmad Ibn Imad ul-din
[edit]A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Ahmad Ibn Imad ul-din, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Iranianism
[edit]Iranianism, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Iranianism satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Iranianism and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Iranianism during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. -- Jreferee (Talk) 03:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
AfD Nomination: Anti-Iranian sentiment
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that Anti-Iranian sentiment meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.
Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anti-Iranian sentiment (3rd nomination). Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.
Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 03:38, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Greetings, Happy New Year!
I hope that you support the listing of woman leaders and the photos on the woman article page.
An editor has opted to take them down. Hope you support the preservation of the list and photos.
Also, I found your user page to be beautiful. As someone in the Northeast, I can recommend to you the Asia Society, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Sackler Museum adjacent to the Harvard campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I see you're based in Texas. If you know of anything of Asian art interest in the Georgia/South Carolina/ Alabama area I'd be interest as well.

- Apologies if I am intruding on private exchange, but the problem, to me, appears to be with the infobox. The conflict involves enough countries, in different roles, that it just doesn't reduce to a pair of belligerents, which the infobox forces. My recommendation is not to have an infobox here, and come to agreement that the main article will have sections representing different views. I'd rather see clear statements of different views, which are unlikely to be reconciled, than continuing battle trying to get any particular POV accepted. Personal attacks, speculation about motivations, and claims of sockpuppetry do not help the situation. Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 17:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Your picture Wheel Iran.jpg at Commons is used on the Swedish WP to illustrate an article about ancient inventions. I would like to attach a little more details about it, but you don't tell anything more than that it is at the museum in Teheran. Iranian national libraries
[edit]I'm currently cleaning up the list of national libraries and have a few questions / requests for help about the Iranian ones. I noticed that you already contributed about (all of) them and allow myself to ask you despite your current workload. If you can forward this to another Farsi-speaking Wikipedian and knowing about libraries, that's fine by me.
- According to its website [www.nlai.ir], the National Library of Iran seems to have been merged with the National Archives to form the 'National Library and Archives of IR of Iran'. I cannot see more than that because the news statement about this does not appear in the languages I can read, whereas moving the current WP page to a new name should be better documented. I'd be grateful if you could have a look. I can perform the move myself to spare your time but I'd need a date, reference of a decree or any kind of information showing that the move is justified.
- The 2nd Iranian library in the list is the Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi. Is it really a national library, for instance collecting material that the 'National Library and Archives of IR of Iran' does not collect? Any advice that you could gather from sites in Farsi would be appreciated.
- The 4th Iranian library in the list is the Malek National Library but the link leads to the Mal'''i'''k National Museum of Iran. Beside the difference in transliteration which should be homogeneised in one way or the other (btw, which way?), I also tend to question its status of national library, i.e. the library of a national museum is not a national library. Same request about further information you could transmit.
- The English name of these libraries should be accompanied by their equivalent in original language and script. For NLAI, the original name is given calligraphied in an image. So, not only can't I copy and paste it but I can't read it at all, my knowledge of this script being limited to ordinary printed characters. I found no source for the others.
- Finally, any hint about an authentic website of these libraries would be helpful (already OK for the NLAI, the only one where the link on the list leads to its actual website).
Thank you very much in advance. Clpda (talk) 21:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in responding. I think that the Tabriz Library, and the Astan Quds are no longer "national" libraries. They can be taken off the list.--Zereshk (talk) 20:35, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. I'll do so. Clpda (talk) 12:40, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Shah Cheragh
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with these pictures since they look different.. are both of these at Shah Cheragh?

- 4 columns, different dome design
Also, is sayyid ala'iddin Husayn / Astaneh at a different site? Many thanks, ~ Toushiro 「 話 」 04:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
One more question: is Imamzadeh-ye Ali ibn Hamzah another site?.. I want to organise everything, but its so confusing when I search on google - they show the same pictures for shah cheragh and imamzadeh-ye Ali (as).. >_< ~ Toushiro 「 話 」 06:09, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi and sorry for the late response.
- The 2 pics are not the same, as u correctly noticed. Shah Cheragh and sayyid ala'iddin Husayn / Astaneh each have a dome and shrine. They are located adjacent to eachother, within walking distance of one another. The entire area of Shah Cheragh is dotted with big and small shrines of various degrees of importance. Sometimes, under one dome, there are several people buried. For example, an entire family of some cleric or saint. Or sometimes, some monarchs would request to be buried under the same dome as an Imam, so as to guarantee them a good resting place, next to the main shrine. In Shiraz, there are a dozen or so small and large Imamzadehs here and there. All are located within a circle of 1 mile radius, i.e. the old part of town.--Zereshk (talk) 21:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Dadaash, thanks for your hard work on wikipedia, its great to see soooo much content on things that one can barely find one page of info on. Its also great for the Persian people who cannot read or write in Farsi, so wikipedia is a good starting point. I was just going to comment on how diligently and professionally you defended the intellectual rights of historical Persian scholars who are even credited by academic sources such as Cambridge, Harvard and Oxford.
Its a shame to see Arab wiki useers fabricate sources and use obscure academic citations to meet their own political agenda. I have been reading the discussion forms on many of the articles you probably helped put together (such as Farabi, Malawna, Ibn Sina, Biruni, Gener, Khwarizmi , all of which were attacked by Arabs or Turks claiming they were of their origin. I have even recently learned that it is not uncommon for school teachers in certain Arab countries to misattribute the works of Persian scientists to that of their own Arab ancestors.
Anyways my comment wasn't suppose to be of anti Arabian seniments (although they have me quite pissed off , especially after reading those discussion forms..I mean how can they claim Avicenna was Arab?!! Or Farabi was Turk?!!Wow i won't get started again but I was meaning to ask you, I know very little about these historical figures who provided the foundation of knowledge for European Renaissance Thinkers (which ironically I know more about due to western education), anyways I have to do a presentation and it's concerning Iranian scientific achievements ("islamic golden age"). I have read a bit about Ibn Sina, Razi, Geber, Farabi, Khayyam, Nasir Tusi, Shirazi, Ghazali, and Khwarizmi, please let me know where I should focus my attention most to (I dont mean to put you on the spot and compare the names by order of importance), but rather key figures I should concentrate on (and hopefully the ones I mentioned are credited as being of Persian origins.
Thanks for your time, best wishes with your studies brother. It's always nice to see great minds at work!
Khodahafez!

Description of File:Ghotb2.jpg
[edit]Hi,
In the description of File:Ghotb.jpg you say "Picture taken by Zereshk from old manuscript of Qotbeddin Shirazi's treatise (13th century). I can give ISBN number if needed."
Could you please provide a full description of the manuscript (its location, shelf number, and pages or folios) and the ISBN of the source from which you took it. Further description of the name of al-din Shirazi's treatise and of the particular planetary model involved would also be helpful if it's available. It's unclear whether it's a model of the Moon, of Mercury, or of some other planet. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 03:32, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Picture request
[edit]Hi,
I was looking for a particular photo from a painting in "Hasht Behesht" when I came across your uploaded image here in commons. The one I'm looking for is exactly what you've cropped a portion of in this image. I would be very happy if you could provide me with a link to the original full painting. whatever I could found was just cropped areas of the original painting.
Thanks again for your time ;) Amiralis (talk) 12:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Pic of Mike Budenholzer?
[edit]Hi! I noticed that you've uploaded pics of several Spurs players and coaches. Since I've recently created an article for Mike Budenholzer, I was wondering if you have a picture of him too. Thanks. Luxic (talk) 10:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Will do. But its not a good photo of him. I'll try again, when I go to the Celtics-Spurs game on March 31st. I do have a slightly better (than coach Bud's) pic of Chip Engelland though, if youre interested. Let me know.--Zereshk (talk) 05:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for Bud's pic! As for Chip, he currently does not have an article, but I'll try to make a stub about him too when I have time and then, of course, I'll let you know. Luxic (talk) 14:55, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- Update: Ok, I've written Chip Engelland's article! So now we can add his pic too. :) Luxic (talk) 23:41, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Saed Maraghei.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Saed Maraghei.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 02:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Thong Iran.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Thong Iran.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [7], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:35, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:AKU logo.JPG
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:AKU logo.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}

Speedy deletion nomination of Agah Bahari
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Agah Bahari requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Non-free rationale for File:Frye Afshar.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Frye Afshar.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

Ask for Permission of photo "Mollahs in the presence of Nasser-ed-Din Shah Qajar"
[edit]Hello,
I am writing on behalf of the Karabakh Foundation, a 501(c)3 cultural charity foundation that preserves and disseminates the cultural heritage and traditions of Azerbaijan, the Caucasus area, and the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. I would like to request permission to use the image found on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Molla2.jpg in an educational capacity. Specifically we request to use the image in an online educational exhibition entitled, Azerbaijan Artifacts, which presents information about coins, stamps, rug, architecture, and other artifacts related to Azerbaijan. In addition we would like permission to use the image in publicity related to the exhibition, on www.KarabakhFoundation.org, and eventually perhaps in a physical exhibition. I am interested in using the image from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Molla2.jpg. This image would perfectly help us convey the importance of Azerbaijani art. If this is acceptable, please let me know how to properly cite (by name, include website also, etc). If possible, I would also appreciate if you could send me high resolution copy of the image. Thank you for your help. Please contact me: [email protected]

Speedy deletion nomination of Meera (band)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Meera (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. The article Agah Bahari has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Lacks substantial coverage in reliable sources, or other notability indicia.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Epeefleche (talk) 23:49, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.worldlibrary.org/articles/Shahid_Chamran_University_of_Ahvaz. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
NuturalObserver (talk) 21:02, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Greater Tehran
[edit]The article Greater Tehran has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Same as an existing article (Tehran)
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Freshman404Talk 11:51, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
