Papua New Guinea requires its residents to register their motor vehicles and display vehicle registration plates.[1] Current plates are Australian standard 372 mm × 134 mm, and use Australian stamping dies.[2] As of 2023, most private and commercial motor vehicles use standard white plates with black lettering. Special number plates are issued to Consular staff, Diplomatic staff, Government owned vehicles, motorcycles, public motor vehicles (buses), taxis, trailers and to those engaged in selling or repairing vehicles.
