Oxavia Aldiano (born 29 March 1990)[2] is an Indonesian singer-songwriter.[3] In 2009, he received his first award of Most Favorite Male Artist during the 2009 MTV Indonesia Awards.[4]

Early life and education

[edit]

Oxavia Aldiano was born in Jakarta, Indonesia.[2] His Javanese father, Harry Aprianto Kissowo, was the owner of an event organizer business.[5][6] His Minagkabau mother, Besbarini, was a piano teacher.[7][8] On his father's side, Aldiano is the grandson S. Darsih Kissowo.[9] His last name Aldiano is an acronym of "Alhamdulillah Dia Nongol", which originated when his mother gave birth to him, Aldiano and his mother were almost helpless because she suffered an illness.[10] When Aldiano was born, his father was grateful by saying the word.[11] He has two younger siblings, Diva Stradivaryan and Vadi Akbar, who are also singers.[12]

Aldiano's career as an artist began when his father, realizing how talented his son was, promoted his demo album to some owners of recording companies that he knew. However, the demo album was rejected because male soloists were not popular at that time. After being rejected six times by various recording companies, music producer Lala Hamid agreed to produce his single album in 2009.[citation needed] Aldiano won third place in his first children's singing competition when he was two-and-a-half years old.[13] At the age of three, he began learning the piano through his mother's guidance.[14] Aldiano began singing when he was in junior high school.[15] As a child, he was a shy bookworm chose to spend time studying in the library.[16]

Aldiano received his elementary and high school education at the Al-Azhar Foundation: SDI Al Azhar 4, Kebayoran Lama (1996–2002); SMPI Al Azhar 3, Bintaro (2002–2005); SMAI Al Azhar 1, Kebayoran Baru (2005–2008).[17] He formed a duo with Raisa during high school, but their activities did not last long due to a greater transportation cost than money earned.[18] Upon graduation from high school, Aldiano majored in Eletcrical Engineering at Pelita Harapan University, but switched to the Management study program after a few months.[19] Entering college, he adjusted his busy singing career with his studies by buying books.[20] Aldiano participated in the Summer Program at Berklee College of Music for two months from July to August 2012,[21] studying vocal techniques and music history.[22] Returning to Indonesia, he entered his seventh and last semester of college.[23] Aldiano completed his studies in 2013 with a GPA of 3.62.[24]

Sherina Munaf), "Dibawah Langit Ibu kota", the latter of which was produced by his friend Petra Sihombing. After the release, he went to University of Manchester to continue his Magister studies.[27]

Returning to his homeland in 2015, Aldiano released the single album Membiasakan Cinta dedicated to friends living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV), before being appointed 2015-2016 Indonesian AIDS Ambassador.[28] In 2016, Aldiano released his third album titled Persona.[29]
