Anna Cooke Kendrick (born August 9, 1985) is an American actress and singer.[1] She has acted in movies such as Pitch Perfect and Twilight. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010 for her role in Up in the Air.

Early life

Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine, on August 9, 1985.[2][3] She began performing in community theater at the age of six.[4] She went to Deering High School.[5]

Career

Her first starring role was in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society, for which she earned a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical at the age of 12.[6][7] Her first movie role was in the musical Camp.[8]

She also starred in the comedies Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and 50/50 (2011), the crime drama End of Watch (2012), the musicals The Last Five Years (2014) and Into the Woods (2014), the thrillers The Accountant (2016) and A Simple Favor (2018), and the fantasy comedy Noelle (2019).

Kendrick has voiced the lead role in the animated musicals of the Trolls movie franchise since 2016. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her role in the 2020 comedy series Dummy (2020).

In 2023, she directed her first movie, Woman of the Hour (2023).

Personal life

Kendrick lives in Los Angeles.[9]

She began dating English filmmaker Edgar Wright in 2009.[10][11][12] They split up in March 2013.[13] She began dating English cinematographer Ben Richardson in February 2014.[14][15][16] Kendrick began dating actor Bill Hader in late 2020 or early 2021.[17][18] By June 2022, they had ended their relationship.[19]
