Diva is the Latin word for goddess. It is also used to describe a woman of talent who often has a dramatic or demanding personality. Celebrities sometimes described as divas include singers Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Cher, Diana Ross, Tina Turner and Whitney Houston.
