School of the Air – Wikipedia
School of the Air kallas den distansutbildning för barn som bedrivs i glesbefolkade områden i Australien. Skolsystemet grundades 1951, och använde kortvågsradio, och 2003 övergick man till att använda Internet.
De första lektionerna sändes från Royal Flying Doctor Service i Adelaide den 8 juni 1951,[1] och firade den 9 maj 2011 sitt 60-årsjubileum.[2][3][4]
Delstaterna genomför stora dokumentationer och översikter över systemet.[5]
Programmet finns i alla delstater utom Tasmanien[6]
Lektionerna gjordes via kortvågsradio från 1951 till 2003,[7] varefter de flesta skolorna övergick till trådlös Internetteknik.[8][9][10][11][12]
Studier har visat att utbildningsformen är minst lika bra om inte bättre än vanlig skola, i dessa glest befolkande områden med stora avstånd.[13]
