Question from Reporter xi (12:37, 28 March 2025)

[edit]

Hi , I have came to know about a influential family in india from my sources I have some proofs too what should I write --Reporter xi (talk) 12:37, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Reporter xi: Is there an existing article you wish to edit, or do you wish to create a new article? In either case, read about Wikipedia's policies on verifiability and on the use of reliable sources. All facts in the articles must be verifiable through independently published, third party publications. As a new editor, you'll find it useful to read Wikipedia:Introduction. Pirate Party Germany

[edit]

Hello, the changes you reverted use the following sources: 1. Archived snapshots of the party's own membership statistics; 2. Official election results for German federal elections and European elections (used by this article and other articles pertaining to German political parties); 3. Reputable news sources like Euractiv; In the latter case, the results are cited elsewhere in the text. In the coming days, I will add these sources to those passages, along with references to state and local election results.

Additionally, you reverted corrections that were necessary - for instance, the article originally mentioned that Jörg Tauss left the party in 2023 when, in fact, he was forced to do so in 2010. Also, I had corrected (please see the Bundestag article here on Wikipedia) the number of seats in the Bundestag from 709 to 630, which is what is in force today.

At any rate, you didn't have to revert those changes; I know there are some more sources I need to add. I've returned the text to the version I'd made, so that I'll continue with the necessary additions. Have a nice day! Odysseus Giacosa (talk) 10:54, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Keep calm and carry on! Somewhat clearer edit summaries would have helped me see what you were doing. No need to write a book, but a little more specific reasons/explanations would have helped. Geoff | Who, me? 18:01, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I often get really frustrated and confused with the citation system, to be honest. I wish it was easier to use. Have a nice day! Odysseus Giacosa (talk) 08:54, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Rare Moon (20:38, 1 April 2025)

[edit]

Hello! Please to meet you. I have taken a shot at AfC for submitting an article for Wikipedia. Can I request your review on this since AfC is backlogged? Draft:BGZF Thank you Rare Moon (talk) 20:38, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Rare Moon: The review is pending. Neither I nor the new article review volunteers review drafts on request. You'll just have to be patient, as there are currently more than 17,000 articles waiting to be reviewed. As the notice on the draft states, it can be 3 months or more. Geoff | Who, me? 20:57, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's unfortunate to hear. Thanks for your time. Rare Moon (talk) 23:12, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Kpnuts2978 $ (17:56, 4 April 2025)

[edit]

I want to jplosd sn image --Kpnuts2978 $ (talk) 17:56, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kpnuts2978 $: I noticed you are trying to create a new article in your user account page: User:Kpnuts2978_$. That is not the correct place to create a Wikipedia article. Instead, use the Articles for Creation process: Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Create a new draft article and cut/paste the content of your use page into the new draft space, deleting what is now in your user page. You can continue to work on the draft article in the space created for it through Articles for Creation. You'll avoid many pitfalls if you will read this guide to creating your first article: Help:Your first article. Finally, what I think you meant by your question is that you wish to know how to upload and add an image to your draft article. Here are the steps:
Please keep in mind that pictures must be available under a free content licence of some kind (see Free_content), or justifiable under Wikipedia's non-free content guidelines at Wikipedia:Non-free content.
Free content licences are vastly preferred; non-free pictures without clear reasons for an exception and pictures without source information or clear licence status will be deleted. Please see our image use policy (Wikipedia:Image use policy) for further details. If the image is protected by copyright, then it can only be uploaded under a "fair use" claim (about which see the free content page mentioned above). If the image is protected by copyright, and you cannot make a fair use claim for it, please do not upload it — it will just be deleted within a day or two.
If you know that the image already exists under a suitable free licence or if you made the image yourself, then you should upload the file to Wikimedia Commons (a free user account will be necessary for this) by visiting this page: <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page> and clicking on "Upload file" from the left-hand margin. Your "Source" here will be the place (e.g., the http:// website, the book title & page, etc.) where the image exists and is shown to be freely licensed. If the file is entirely your own work and does not contain other copyrighted works within it, you should type Template:Own for the "Source". If the image is not yet under a free licence, but the copyright holder would like to place it under one, he/she may want to use our Interactive Release Generator available here: <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wikimedia VRT release generator>. (Do not upload non-free images to Commons.)
Once the image has been uploaded, you can add it to a page thus:
1. Visit the page where you wish to place the image and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of it. This will open an editing window. Find the place in the article where you wish to place the image and write the following:
[[File:(Filename you chose when uploading).(extension of file, case sensitive, like .jpg or .png)|thumb|Caption text(Write a caption for the image)]]
2. Save the page with an edit summary that describes what you did (e.g. "added image")
For example, if I had uploaded an image of some fruit bats in a colony that I called "fruitbatsoverhead.jpg" and wanted to add it to the article on fruit bats, I would go to that page, click "Edit", scroll down to where I wanted my image to appear, and write
[[File:fruitbatsoverhead.jpg|thumb|Fruit bat colony seen from an overhead perspective]]
and then click "Save" after making an edit summary entry like "Added image". Once you click "Save", the image should immediately appear in the article!
If you would like more information about editing, you might want to consider visiting this page: Help:Editing. We also have a tutorial on using images here Wikipedia:Picture tutorial which will show you how to adjust the size of the image as it appears in the Wikipedia article, explains the use of the word "thumb", and explains other aspects of how the image will be seen by other readers.
If you need more help, feel free to reply to this message and I will see if I can assist you further. Good luck! Geoff | Who, me? 18:23, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from AJMgirl (10:53, 6 April 2025)

[edit]

Hello, Glane23. I hope this message finds you well. I am AJMgirl, and I recently drafted an article about Katherine Tudor, the Princess of England and daughter of Henry VII. Unfortunately, it was not accepted due to concerns regarding her notability and adherence to an encyclopedic tone. I believe I have improved the tone, but I could use some guidance on establishing her notability, particularly given her brief life of only eight days. Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! --AJMgirl (talk) 10:53, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@AJMgirl: Read the articles on notability carefully: Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (people). The child is mentioned in Elizabeth of York#Death and aftermath and, as the reviewer mentioned, "biographical data alone do not make her notable." The fact of her birth and brief life are only notable in light of the lives of her parents, with no recorded significance to the history of the United Kingdom or the world in general. Thus, her mention in the article about her mother is likely the appropriate place on Wikipedia, as she was determined not to warrant an entire article. You can always resubmit for another review, but my sense is that the result of a second review will be the same. Geoff | Who, me? 13:11, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Boeing747Pilot (14:02, 9 April 2025)

[edit]

Hello! It’s been awhile seen i’ve asked you something but is it ok for me to create a page just for my userboxes? --(Boeing747Pilot) Boeing747Pilot (talk) 14:02, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Boeing747Pilot: It may help to read the userbox policy/directions article, Wikipedia:Userboxes, and the article on user pages, Wikipedia:User pages. You could create a subpage of your user page and put userboxes there, but doesn't that defeat their purpose, which is to indicate some aspect of yourself on a public-facing user page? Geoff | Who, me? 14:13, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thats a good point! I will see if i can create a collapsable box for them. (Boeing747Pilot) Boeing747Pilot (talk) 14:25, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Jayyyi (18:47, 13 April 2025)

[edit]

Why do some people remove edits just for the sake of removing? --Jayyyi (talk) 18:48, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jayyyi: Which of your ten edits so far are you referring to? For example, your edit to Tommy Black was reverted as unsourced. Facts in the articles need to be supported by references to reliable sources. Geoff | Who, me? 19:28, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jayyyi: Read the comment by the other editor who reverted your edit in the edit history: List of Jews in sports - edit History. I only know what they wrote. If you wish to explore its meaning, post a note on the article's Talk page to start a discussion about the article's content with the other editor, Bbb23.
