Sock Eswaran Naveen

[edit]

Sock of Eswaran Naveen returned as as Sharika Thennal and Ravi chinthakayala reverting the film cast, removing content, and fact with sources. Top billing Jyothika. Heavily biased towards Jyothika.

@Nehansaxan, it would be better to take this to the SPI and file a report there. Ravensfire (talk) 19:27, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not familiar with SPI. I need help with this sock consistently being disruptive now Nehansaxan (talk) 19:33, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Look at reports in the archive, read through the instructions and just try it. Yes, I know this sock is annoying, but it will be far faster if you start the SPI report. It will probably be at least tomorrow before I'll have much of a chance to do my due diligence and put one together. Ravensfire (talk) 19:35, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Excuse me, Mr. Ravensfire.. I do made a note here 15 days ago for someone named Nehasaxan, a huge fanatic of South Indian actress Meena Amma ( came to know by his edit history) keep mentioning me pointing making me as a sock or something like that..

I do make fair edits here... Not favouritism or fanatic edits...

That Nehasaxan brother is keep highlighting actress Meena Amma multiple times... is not a problem for me.. The thing is that why he keeps stalk me over someone edits his favourite artist page?? Stalking is not q good thing for me to support.. I just checked his edit histort today and found that he is a fanatic of Meena Amma. And a biggest hater of Actress Jyothika i guess ( understood only i came to know about his mentioning in your talk page)

Why you kept silent even i texted you 15 days back and only replying for him ( fanatic Meena Amma editor Nehasaxan ) Ravi chinthakayala (talk) 06:56, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I probably need to get more active on the SPI report, don't I. Ravensfire (talk) 13:27, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Muhammad Zubair (journalist). Warning: Cease engaging in edit wars and disruptive editing on Wikipedia. Your actions are disrupting the editing process and violating Wikipedia's policies. Ahhh, love it when an editor that's reverted (checking quickly) 5 times in the past few hours leaves a warning like this. Sure, let's see how this works out for you. Obviously, this is already at WP:EWN for your egregious edit-warring, you might also want to read Dispute Resolution page for some other ideas on handling your edits being reverted and work towards consensus. @Maphumor is also a sock of @Srimonbanik2007 both of them edit mostly the same page. And Maphumor reedit the edits of socks after few time. Maphumor usually don't leave edit summary similar to that sockmaster. 223.239.116.16 (talk) 10:18, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Ravensfire,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Conversation with a nationalist blocked as a sock puppet
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at The Ganges and Himalayas, you may be blocked from editing. Please refrain from reverting edits unnecessarily without reading the entire guidelines. It's permissible to add Indic languages in Hinduism-related articles, as stated in the guidelines. Additionally, consensus is not required as the guidelines already address this matter. Thank you for your attention to this matter. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 00:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TheDarkKnight433 Well done on the copy-cat warning! I'm quite impressed. Now, how about you actually understand the warning and recognize that you do need to follow the community guidelines here rather than just push your edit? Ravensfire (talk) 00:54, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about you go and read the guidelines again? It's already well discussed and no need to dicuss further. Instead of poking in everyone's editing, atleast get a knowledge before just reverting it. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 00:58, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First, stop the personal attacks. Not helpful. Second, understand that differences in opinion around this do exist, and the appropriate way to resolve disputes on Wikipedia is to discuss the edits and get outside consensus. WP:BRD. Ravensfire (talk) 01:01, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite ironic that you deem my actions as a personal attack. It appears that every suggestion I make is met with opposition and reversion. Take, for instance, the recent edits to the Abbas Ansari article. The last two editors other than me made significant changes without seeking consensus, yet I didn't observe any warnings issued to them. Let's ensure consistency and fairness in enforcing Wikipedia's guidelines across all contributors. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 02:17, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Ganges

[edit]

Hi Ravensfire, criticising another editor's posts is a delicate matter, but I think your post at Talk:Ganges is confusing. Immediately under TheDarkKnight433's post you start "That's basically my thought on this as well"; from the rest of your post, it appears you are agreeing with Jmcgnh's post, above TheDarkKnight433's post, but it initially reads that you are agreeing with TheDarkKnight433. If I'm misunderstanding your intent, or you think I am interfering, I sincerely apologise. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 10:13, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops - thank you for pointing that out! I'll tweak it slightly to prevent confusion. I appreciate you letting me know! Ravensfire (talk) 12:54, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Salman Khan section heading.

[edit]

Hey we meet again.

You reverted my section heading on Salman Khan's section heading "Blockbuster run". This is the reason I gave earlier:

"Changed section heading to "blockbuster run". Because it hints at his back to back blockbuster films, the main highlight of this phase of his career. Also the previous heading "Resurgence and stardom" is misleading because Salman has had stardom since 1990s. So blockbuster run is more fitting"

What's your thought on this? Parminder Sarwara (talk) 10:33, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The prior version was more neutral and avoid the hype / puffery language of "Blockbuster". You may want to reach out to the film Wiki project for a larger audience to ask about this. I look at featured articles for highly successful actors that have wide readership. Some really good examples would be Elvis Presley but also Dimple Kapadia, Kareena Kapoor Khan as other examples of featured articles with relatively neutral (and yes, boring) descriptions. Ravensfire (talk) 14:23, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Parminder Sarwara (talk) 03:46, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Achha to tu ye bol raha hai ki section heading mein blockbuster likhna promotional hai, lekin stardom likhna promotional nahi hai? Ye kaha ka logic hai be? Ye to completely subjective baat hai ki stardom ya blockbuster run mein se konsi heading zyada promotional hai? Tu hota kon hai decide karne wala?
Aur tu bhi to ignore kar raha hai ki section heading mein stardom likhne se ye indicate hota hai ki Salman ko 2010 mein stardom mila. Jabki wo to 90s mein hi star ban gya tha. Parminder Sarwara (talk) 12:56, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
agar tu reply nahi kr rha to main section heading firse change kr raha hoon. Parminder Sarwara (talk) 07:33, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Parminder Sarwara: See WP:ENGLISHPLEASE. Sid95Q (talk) 08:24, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, this please. And honestly, let's take this to the article talk page, as this is about article content. Ravensfire (talk) 15:36, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't know how to do that. Guide me or something. Parminder Sarwara (talk) 13:51, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Go to the article, click on the link to the talk page for the article, then create a new section there just like you did here. Ravensfire (talk) 22:32, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Ravensfire, you are editing out information about 2 new serials and placing the completed serial in current programming list. pls have a look into it.. You are completing removing info about malli and punnagai poove, placing completed serial priyamana thozhi again. it doesnt make any sense. do research before editing.

Regarding episode count, this is the stand by you and other editor. it was like this for 4 lomg years .and you guys appear suddenly to change it. YOu have expressed serials should be listed in alphabetical order, but it wasnt even there for even 10 days .. it was again moved to timestamp ordering and you guys have forgotten it for 4 years.. what u have been doing all these years when some random starnger edits in their own way? You have problem only with me?

I've personally got no real objection to adding the episode count && I have no problem in your view about mentioning episode count as said by User:Ravensfire. Munthanam (talk) 04:48, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hello, Season 10 introduced the concept of ideal match, it's not fan trivia and is an important element of the show since then. I would request you to undo edits. Thank you. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 06:45, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law yes, it's unsourced fan trivia. it's been removed before and added back by a certain blocked user. Please don't keep putting unsourced fan trivia back in the article. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 10:56, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First read what i said, It is NOT unsourced fan trivia. Do some research before randomly doing disruptive edits. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 04:39, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law And you ignore the main point if the revert, it's WP:FANCRUFT and doesnt belong in the article. Yes, to a fan like you it's important which is the point of FANCRUFT. There's already far more details there than is warranted. Follow WP:BRD and discuss on the article talk page at this point. Ravensfire (talk) 04:49, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you even watch the show? Probably No. Because if you do so you can see it is part of the show and not WP:FANCRUFT. You can't simply come after 5 years and randomly remove it calling it fan trivia. Dr. Trafalgar D Water Law (talk) 04:53, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Hi Ravensfire! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Devi Sri Prasad several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Devi Sri Prasad, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. I have added a section at the talk page for you both to discuss this issue.. Goldenarrow9 (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't really intend to issue a warning as you look like a well-experienced wikipedian, but I can't find a generic edit war notice elsewhere and didn't want to take the effort of linking through the specific talk pages/wikipedia rules manually. Goldenarrow9 (talk) 17:37, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! Good faith from your part and good on you to try to prevent drama. Left a post on the article talk page section you started, I'm not worrying about this further. Ravensfire (talk) 17:41, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

Dear Ravensfire! I noticed that you have removed the title of Asianet founder in Asianet and Asianet News pages. As per MOS:DOCTOR which you refer to, the title should be used if the person is better known with title. According to the Asianet archives, mentions in media and Google search queries, the founder of Asianet is known only with the title Dr. Using his name without the title in google search is forwarding you to information about famous South Indian actress Raji Menon which is misleading readers. I think that in the Asianet and Asianet News pages the founder should be mentioned with title (at least in the first mention) to avoid of misleading of Wikipedia readers. Please share your thoughts.       Frezig (talk) 14:26, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The exceptions are for when the person is regularly mentioned with Dr - with Dr. Ruther being the canonical example. In other words, when they are addressed, people normally use Dr as part of their name. That's pretty rare, the vast majority of articles where someone with a doctorate is mentioned you won't see Dr included. A key part of MOS:DOCTOR that you missed is "should be used only with subjects of a biography that are widely known by a pseudonym or stage name containing the title". That's not supported here. Ravensfire (talk) 14:33, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree with you, but I respect your decision. Thank you. Frezig (talk) 15:09, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to your experience, I need one more advice from you (if you don’t mind). I found sources for some old WP pages with dead links, but they are in regional languages. As I understand, they can be added if the source is reliable and information doesn’t duplicate in English. But I cannot find the guidance how to add such sources properly. Please advise and guide me. Frezig (talk) 09:06, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, don’t want to be annoying, but in continuation to our discussion of “title” topic, please look at this sources confirming that the founder of Asianet is regularly mentioned with title Dr (it even can be considered as a part of his name).
1.     In the year 2000, this person was presented the award of “Man of the Year" by the Government of Kerala, as the founder of Asianet “for contribution to the growth of Kerala and IT”. Please watch 1 min. video where the Governor handovers the award statuette to Dr. Menon, on which his name is written with title [14].
2.     The article confirming the authenticity of the video mentioned above. The name of Asianet founder always mentioned with Dr. [15]
3.     Archive of the official press release issued by The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India (New Delhi) confirming that the founder of Asianet is known only with title Dr, and it can be considered as a part of his name. [16] Frezig (talk) 12:59, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's not uncommon to see sources like that use Dr in the name - it's common for medical doctors. But you don't need that used on Wikipedia on high quality articles because of what's demanded in MOS:DOCTOR. We don't use titles / honorifics like that in articles here. Honestly, at this point given you're pushing this so hard, who's pushing you to get this included? Have you read WP:COI and WP:PAID? Ravensfire (talk) 05:33, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For us malayalees (Keralites) this name with and without the tittle are two different famous persons. Just want to avoid of misleading of Wikipedia readers. As you see I discuss the topic with you to find the better option and I don’t understand your claims about violation of clauses WP:COI and WP:PAID. Frezig (talk) 06:46, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to add some more evidence, look at the article history here [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Suhaagan_(TV_series)&action=history] and see how this new account uses a lot of one-word edit summaries when changing the cast, just as the previous sock who was active on that article did. Ravensfire (talk) 01:18, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

can you please check the Sliver Synth page now again

[edit]

Hello, many days ago, you nominated the Silver Synth page for deletion due to a lack of reliable sources. Now I have found more credible sources through Google searches. I believe that with these new sources, the page meets the notability standards and should be published.

Please review the new sources to determine if the page can be republished. If you need any specific links, let me know, and I will provide them. you can find it in Google search as well. As Silver Synth is a well-known musician, it is important that his page be reinstated. and also please let me know what do you think about it.

Thank you for your assistance. Sa.Editor99 (talk) 14:04, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be accurate, I moved the article from main article space into draft space. The sources where poor, the text was over-the-top promotional and nothing that showed how WP:NMUSIC is met by this person. There are also concerns around possible conflict of interest and undeclared paid editing that need to be addressed. Ravensfire (talk) 17:05, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It probably is - there are several pages already semi-protected because of them. I would take the most common pages to WP:RFPP for IP sock puppetry and reference that SPI case. Ravensfire (talk) 23:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Vikas Bahl's parent's info

[edit]

Hi, I am currently employed by a company founded by Mr. Vikas Bahl. I added his parent's names because on an earlier page the name mentioned was Mr. Ravish Bahl, which was wholly incorrect and now all of the internet hails it to be true, hence need to add this information. No other idea of how to add reputable source on this. Avukshah (talk) 11:34, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you've got a website that meets the Reliable Source criteria that has his parents name, you can use that as a source. Just put it between two ref tags, like this <ref>https://mysource.com/article</ref> and someone can convert it to a template. There's also a button on the visual editor that helps with adding a source. This would need to be from a good source, not a blog, forum post or tabloid site. Splitsvilla - Season 11

[edit]

Bro, why do you keep undoing edits? It is detailed, yes, but look at other seasons' pages - all of these details are mentioned there too. Stop deleting other people's work.

And no, it is not unsourced - I watch every episode and write the summary. What's your problem?

Ideal matches as a concept is introduced and declared throughout the course of the episodes. Have you even watched the show before writing "unsourced" and "fan trivia" on your deletions? Samanthonyrichard (talk) 17:50, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome ti bring this up on the article talk page - your edit has been challenged and should remain out until there's consensus otherwise. Ravensfire (talk) 23:45, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Donal Bisht wiki

[edit]

we are the official team of donal bisht .. there is a request we need to refresh her wiki profile as many information till now was wrong . It will be great if you would understand & cooperate. Thanks 2405:201:2B:85A:682C:37B9:386A:FE80 (talk) 04:54, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would start with reading the WP:PAID and WP:COI pages as they apply here. I absolutely appreciate the transparency and openess, it really does hwlp with establishing trust. Your best approach is going to be through making edit requests on the talk page of Donal Bisht, and the COI page I linked earlier talks about how to do that. Something that you must be sure to include is reliable sources that support those edit requests. You and your team are not a reliable source by Wikipedia standards. It needs to be from a reputable and indepedent source - so the paid / sponsored news that's far too common is absolutely not acceptable on Wikipedia. It needs to be neutral, representing the coverage in reliable sources fairly and completely. Good things, bad things - articles here should fairly cover things in WP:WEIGHT for how sources cover it. Remember this is not a place to promote things - that's her social media or personal website. Wikipedia strives to truly be an encyclopedia, so the articles are dry but informative. Ravensfire (talk) 06:11, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So easy example - changing the date of birth. The date that's in the article has a good source, and changing it away from that without any support is not going to work here. I know there are some levels of ageism in acting, but Wikipedia needs to reflect what's supported by sources, not desires to hide one's age. Ravensfire (talk) 06:14, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Where do I report bigotry on Wikipedia?

[edit]

Could you please give me a link? I want to report @Ratnahastin for bigotry. Thanks. Telugujoshi (talk) 03:15, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ANI. I can tell you that my personal view is you're both not communicating clearly, there's misunderstanding on both sides and this is not something that will result in anything other than a fingerwag at both of you for wasting peoples time. Ravensfire (talk) 04:41, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I agree. I am going to drop it here. Telugujoshi (talk) 22:51, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pijush Basu (Biography)

[edit]
Conversation with now blocked Halud Foressa sock
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

You have mentioned me in the article Pijush Basu as the obvious Halud Foressa. I know nothing about this person. By the way, why are you removing informations from that page? I've published the article after a proper research on Basu's biography, and also added citation recently. Besides, you've also removed many informations from the Anjan Choudhury page also. Yes, I agree that citations should be needed. But the films itself from you tube, are evidences for those informations. You help me to cite those. As you reverted the article, for your kind information, Pratibaad is not directed by Anjan Choudhury, but is written. So I splitted into a seperate section and you've removed that. If you remove real info from a page, what can I do? Urmpjd (talk) 06:19, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:BLOCKEVASION. Yes, you are the person behind Halud Foressa and quite a few other accounts. That's called sockpuppetry and is not accepable on Wikipedia. You decided long ago to ignore the warnings and issues that others were raising and got blocked. After that, you decided that nothing else mattered but doing things your way and not actually address the problems and concerns being raised. And you are STILL DOING IT! Unsourced material. Excessive categories. Genre-spam. Disruptive editing.
As a sock evading a block, WP:BLOCKEVASION means your edits can and will be reverted, pages you create can and will be deleted. YOU, the person behind the account, are blocked from editing Wikipedia. You need to actually listen to what you've been told and work to get unblocked on your original account. At this point, the only path you have for being unblocked is probably the Standard Offer. That's six months minimum of no editing. Not with an account, not with an IP, no editing. Then you have to convince an admin that you understand the reasons for your blocked, the disruption you've caused and how it won't happen again. Tough task but it has been done before.
Until that happens that, socks will be blocked, edits will be reverted. You've continued with your disruptive edits and it's not worth the time of other editors to sift through all of your edits for the handful that are worth keeping. Think on that. Ravensfire (talk) 13:35, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No sir, I've joined a month ago. As you mentioned me as Halud Foressa, I went to know about the person and have acknowledged the fact that he had done some disruptive editings. But, I think I've not. YOU have sometimes removed the names of artists from the name of the characters in the plot section of the film articles. WHY? It is easy to understand for a reader to know about the film, and THERE ARE MANY ARTICLES WHERE THE CHARACTERS ARE INFORMED WITH THE ARTIST'S NAME. I've not done any unsourced edit, Every infos involved in Pijush Basu's article, are cited. Now, you tell me how can I give source for those films written by Anjan Choudhury? Those films itself prove that Choudhury's name is credited as screenwriter in the title.
I've properly researched about the filmography of the two personalities, and as I am a filmlover, I would try my best to give real info. Urmpjd (talk) 14:01, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Uh huh - and that's what a sock puppet it - you create a new account after the previous one has been blocked. You've made the same edits as prior socks. You continue with the same problems as the prior account. Your Pijush Basu was mostly unsourced material, so your comment I've not done any unsourced edit, Every infos involved in Pijush Basu's article, are cited is patently false. Every single section as of this version is sourced? Nope. Even the sections that are sourced have sources for the basic existence of a film (good!) and then unsourced analysis and original research (bad!). Let's see, what else. YOU have sometimes removed the names of artists from the name of the characters in the plot section of the film articles. WHY? And this is a really, really good example of the problems other editors have with your edits. Obviously you haven't read the edit summaries that have been left, or noticed that nearly every film article on Wikipedia doesn't have actor names in the plot section. Hmmm, I wonder if there is a concious decision to not have them in the plot when there's a cast section? Since you haven't read the edit summaries, you may want to read MOS:FILMPLOT. Just in case, here's the relevant line = "Do not include actors' names in the plot summary, as it is redundant to the "Cast" section." Ravensfire (talk) 14:16, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Halud_Foressa - only 8 accounts in there so far, so not completely past any chance of redemption. And we'll see what happens with Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Halud_Foressa. Ravensfire (talk) 14:18, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's not my problem. Then you should exclude names of the artists from the plot summaries of every film articles in wikipedia. And I am repeating that I am not Halud Foressa. If you can read Bengali, you would have realized about those words mentioned by me. Urmpjd (talk) 14:36, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And now blocked as a sock puppet of Halud Foressa. Ravensfire (talk) 17:52, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thalapathy 69

[edit]

In this revision you removed some reliable sources from this page. More number of citations are only avoidable per WP:OVERCITE. Each line only has 2 citations. And Pinkvilla is a reliable source per WP:ICTFSOURCES. 103.154.37.237 (talk) 15:50, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

All of those statements only need a single source. They aren't controversial and thus don't need more than one good source. Several of those sources removed were Pinkvilla which not considered a good source and should be avoided. Multiple sources for the same basic information is WP:REFBOMB and pushing it is disruptive and you need to stop. Ravensfire (talk) 16:56, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ravensfire. According to latest discussion Pinkvilla is considered generally reliable for film-related content. Sid95Q (talk) 17:21, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for that correction - back and forth on that one and I missed the last one. Appreciate the reminder! Ravensfire (talk) 17:30, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IP - I've struck out part of my response about Pinkvilla. The main point though, that multiple sources for non-controversial statements are not needed is very accurate and absolutely applies here. Multiple sources that are pre-release publicity blurbs with the same basic information does not help show notability. Don't be part of the problem here and continue with this - this article does not need the crazy number of references is already has when too many times it's the same information repeated slightly differently. Ravensfire (talk) 17:33, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, i'm trying to add an article on shuah khan. Can you help? Thanks AbdulRahim2002 (talk) 17:34, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You've got a single decent source in the article and you really need 2-3 more with indepth coverage of Khan specifically. I wish you luck, but it's an area that I'm not all that much interested in. Ravensfire (talk) 02:33, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BB8 Tamil

[edit]

Under the Weekly Summary category, the contestants names in the Entrances and Nominations category have been boldened following the template from previous Bigg Boss seasons to provide more importance and differentiation from other common words in the same sentence. Hence I request you to please make this neccessary changes yourself or to allow me so that we all can follow the identifiable pattern for this show. Please acknowledge with a reply. SHNV (talk) 18:20, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's not a good reason to ignore MOS and misuse bolding where it shouldn't be done. Sure, previous years may be doing it wrong, but don't continue the wrong, do it right and fix the wrong. Following MOS is not optional and local consensus cannot override it. Other examples of issues are the ever-present over capitalization (MOS:CAPS misuse of color (see MOS:COLOR) and that was quite noticeable in prior seasons. Problems should be corrected when noticed, not blindly copied forward. Ravensfire (talk) 18:38, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the changes you made to Season 8 and Season 7 regarding MOS: Bold. Then I request you to please make the changes for all the previoua seasons 1 to 5 so that other people do not get misguided. SHNV (talk) 19:12, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't about me wanting to do something wrong, it is about asking for clarity which I got the answer on your talk page and as I requested since you corrected the MOS:NOTBOLD for season 7 and 8 which I learn't from. I need to learn what is right or wrong which I did after your response. Please do not assume everyone to be a know it all. SHNV (talk) 19:19, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't assume that I'm accusing you of doing something wrong - I'm not. You're following a previous example that you didn't know was incorrect. My comment was simply to not just keep doing something that's contrary to Wikipedia's Manual of Style, but doing things the right way now that you know where to look for guidance. Trust me = I'm well aware of how crazy big the MOS is and I regularly am corrected myself with the same advice. Ravensfire (talk) 19:24, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you making me aware of this and the way you responded here is excellent. It provides both clarity and not demotivating at the same time. Thank you for making me aware of MOS. I will slowly try to learn more of it. SHNV (talk) 03:59, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for helping me learn about MOS. I appreciate it. SHNV (talk) 19:23, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Mass page moves

[edit]

User:Anoopspeaks has done mass undiscussed page moves of sensitive pages with seemingly arbitrary/POV reasons. You have previously undone such move in Tamannaah Bhatia. The user has also done mass content rewrites here without even having a discussion at talk page, arbitrarily removing large amount of reliable sources as well (WP:ICTFSOURCES and WP:ICTFFAQ). 117.230.88.187 (talk) 07:28, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Better spot would have been to start with their talk page with this. There is already a discussion there about the page moves. Ravensfire (talk) 13:36, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ashleelotar Daye

[edit]

Sir, I think it's not necessary to revert the article Ashleelotar Daye. I gave original informations in that article and if you have doubts, then check this [1]. If you see anything wrong, then revert it. I can be a sockpuppet of Halud Foressa, but always try to provide original info. Ek Shey Akash (talk) 12:22, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ek Shey Akash, see WP:BANREVERT - reviewing your edits is not worth the time of anyone here because you've demonstrated time and again that you ignore Wikipedia policies, add unsourced information, remove sourced information and add information not supported by the sources you do use. You waste other editors time everytime you continue to edit. As such, your edits will continue to be reverted on sight. Ravensfire (talk) 13:46, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And they are blocked as a HF sock. Ravensfire (talk) 20:50, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reception of Bigg Boss 18

[edit]

As running average column in ratings is calculated and it is not a sourced. It is used in Big Brother also. Please check currently airing season of Big Brother (British TV series) series 21 which also uses it and Bigg Boss pages follow format of it. Kaustubh42 (talk) 13:58, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's WP:SYNTH when it's not mentioned by the sources. I don't care if other pages are doing it wrong, let's talk about *this* page. Follow good examples, not the multiple bad examples of the Bigg Boss walled garden. Ask at WP:ORN. Ravensfire (talk) 14:13, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did a survey of all seasons for Bigg Boss Hindi and the last three seasons for the rest. Two seasons for the Hindi version (4 and 6) have a Ratings section that was pure text (which is really what this should be as it helps put the numbers in a useful context. Season 6 of the Malayalam season had a large table that of course was completely unsourced. The Tamil and Telugu series pages include ratings information for the launch and finale and of course those numbers don't have sources there. It would be interesting to see someone try to take a recent season to GA status, I've got a feeling as they are currently written it would be a rather quick failure. Megha Akash

[edit]

Hi, is this a sock edit. Reminds of of this one which you reverted. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:23, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A sock of somebody, quite probably. Who though, that's harder. That 2022 revert was for a Jha09 IP and it was other edits from that range that probably drove me to call it a sock. The Megha Akash article has a lot of edits from various IP ranges, and scattered edits from sock-blocked accounts, but those were Hello 68, Nauman335 in addition to Jha09. If you really want a rabbit-hole, look at Special:Contributions/2409:40D0:0:0:0:0:0:0/32. From some of the edit summaries, I'm confident that Eswaran Naveen is using this range, and quite possibly some others.
If I can pretty clearly tell who is the master, I'm okay with reverting. Ideally I'd get something in the SPI to help with spotting a range. If I can't tell who the master, I try to evaluate the edits on their own but with a more critical eye than usual. There's just so many socks and they've shifted to using IP's quite often in big ranges, so it's a challenge to really stop. It's quite tiring dealing with this mess, I really wish WMF would create some automated tools to help tag possible socks for CU review to help with this. Ah well, that's a true pipedream! More likely that ANI will drop their lawsuit and agree that they're a propoganda website. Ravensfire (talk) 15:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I liked the ANI vs Wiki reference . I like your idea though. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:13, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help regarding a user

[edit]

Hello.

This is regarding the edits of a user with the username "Made in Kolkata". Till date, the person has made edits only to the article Khadaan.

He mainly adds references. But the problem is that he is adding as many as references which are available on internet. Half of them are pre release film gossips about whether an actor will have a cameo in the film Or not. Articles mention either Sunil Shetty, Vidyut Jamwal or Ankush Hazra have a cameo in the film. And they are just rumors till date. Neither of them has been confirmed by the production houses involved. I don't think it has meaning to include them as references now just on the basis of gossips.

He is just blindly adding references. Many of them are even from banned sites on Wikipedia like IWMBuzz, although a reference from some reliable source already exists. At other places, where a reference from a reliable source like Hindustan Times or like any Bengali news medias already exits, he is adding 5 more references on the same topic. I don't think it doesn't have any meaning to add 5 references at the end of every line, which he is doing. They even make the visual representation of the article look really really bad. And he is unnecessarily adding huge quotes in the reference. He has added 8-10 references after many lines in Khadaan. If possible, I would request you to mass rollback the edits, because so many references are totally unnecessary.

Also, he adds many references just for the sake of adding, irrespective of the line after which he is adding. For example, he adds a reference about the first song from the film somewhere under the production section. It's totally unnecessary. Also, he adds a previously added citation again, but with a huge quote.

And for some reason, from the nature of his edits, I feel that he is probably not new as an editor on Wikipedia.(Despite the total edits are about 25). I think this could be a new account of an old user. And there is this one user, whose edits I noticed while editing Shastri. He created that article under the name Alor Pathyatri and had a similar habit of adding 5-10 citations on same topic after every line and adding all references available on internet. Later I found that account has been blocked as a part of WP:Sockpuppet.

This user "Made in Kolkata" is probably a sockpuppet of "Halud Foressa".

Here is that archive. -->

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Halud Foressa/Archive

And I am pretty sure that this is the same person, with a new account. I am all the more sure because few days back Massy Man was blocked from editing for being a sockpuppet of Halud Foressa and in his talk page I got mentioned during a discussion. That's how came to know about the block.

I would request you to take a look into this and maybe like warn the user to refrain from such unnecessary edits. According to me, not only he is not following the terms of WP:FILM, but also unnecessarily ruining the visual display of the articles for neutral readers. All he is doing is probably from a fan point of view.

It's really becoming difficult and tedious to see his edits and revert them or correct them everytime.

If you think I have said anything wrong or have been unnecessarily worried about this, then sorry in advance. Please do feel free to correct my mistakes in my talk page.

Thanks BhikhariInformer (talk) 14:45, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible, but without any obvious overlap in edits, I can't say that with enough certainty to be willing to create an SPI report. So far they've been adding a lot of sources, mostly excessive and not needed, but there's an element of acting as a good faith editor (even if misguided). Perhaps a polite message about not needing multiple references for the same thing when the existing reference(s) are from a really good source and the information isn't controversial. Ravensfire (talk) 13:46, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay.
Thanks BhikhariInformer (talk) 15:58, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
