Chiclana de la frontera.
[edit]Hello. I have been looking over the page on CDLF, and see that you have put a link to a turn of the century novel. In itself quite fascinating within its genre and there are various editions on archive.org. But I must admit I could not bring myself to get to where it mentioned Chiclana or the Phoenician presence here through all the prose and thrills. ¿Would it be possibly nice if you could provide a page reference please?. 95.63.84.142 (talk) 20:39, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello 95.63.84.142. The last time I edited the article Chiclana de la Frontera was January 18, 2012. I've looked at my edits and can't sort out which edit or book you're referring to. If you can clarify this, I'll take another look. Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:51, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Rosiesteph. ¿ If you were to go to the current CDLF page, the history section, Number 8? Failing that It was an edit of 15 January 2012. The car of destiny and its.. etc ! Which, whilst it certainly is an interesting example of pre war literature, it is hardly to be taken seriously as an authoritative source for this subject . However it would be, as I said, possibly nice if you were to give a page reference? so that those whose interest had been piqued could access the information without wading through pages and pages of florid prose, bad behaviour and and out-dated attitudes (sorry but thats how it comes across). I don't know how much knowledge or interest in the ancient history of this area you have or if you are able to understand ¿Spanish?. A great deal has happened here since 2012, cf the Spanish version of the page which is far more up to date I just didn't want to delete and overwrite your contributions unilaterally. Happy holidays to you. T 94.248.86.40 (talk) 16:41, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello there. I have no special knowledge or interest in Chiclana de la Frontera; it's just one page of thousands that I've edited. Please feel free to make whatever changes/improvements you wish, just as many other editors have done before and after my edits. Thank you, and happy holidays. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:06, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah ok Maybe I will. Thanks for ignoring my question again. If you have, as you say no special interest or Knowledge in CDLF, why on earth are you editing or even writing pages about it? 94.248.86.40 (talk) 11:16, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- We can edit whatever pages interest us at any given moment, right?
- I did review the part of the sentence related to citation #8. That link didn't support that claim, ergo, I thought I should see what other sources I used in 2012 and/or do further research in this regard later today (it's 03:58 at my home right now), but as your tone has escalated, instead, I just removed the part of the sentence in question and the accompanying citation. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:58, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- What a dishonest thing to say.Rosie. However, thank you for removing link. I see that you have started pages on other Chiclana related subjects, How does having no interest or knowledge of the subject qualify you or anyone to do that? 94.248.86.40 (talk) 17:24, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]This article seems too dependent on one source and seems to reflect the flowery language in that source. It does not, to me, read like a Wikipedia article. I suggest you remove the adjectives, unverified suppositions, and general journalistic style. RegardsRoundtheworld (talk) 19:39, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment, Roundtheworld. Started it yesterday; still working on it today. Yup; will trim, etc. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:41, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

I managed pics until the cloisters cat came ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:05, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
... and today also the others of that day. You'll miss one of the announced three cats because my pics were not good enough. The second was waiting during dinner the last day, so more patience needed. I saw an additional little thin creature in Bacabal cathedral that just looked ill - it feels indecent to show it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:20, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Cloisters cat is adorable. Beautiful eyes. Tomorrow. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:29, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, seen and liked! - Today's story comes from a DYK about a concert that fascinated me, and you can listen! For my taste, the hook has too little music - I miss the unusual scoring and the specific dedication - but it comes instead with a name good for viewcount. - I uploaded a few new pics, one sunset missing because the line on the train is too slow get it uploaded ;) - only a painted cat on a wall. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:50, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- I see what you mean about the hook: shift the focus away from the subject in order to gain viewcount of the subject. Hmm. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:26, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. On the Main page today Jean Sibelius on his birthday. Listening to Beethoven's Fifth from the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris. We sang in choirs today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:05, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Like the rest of the world, I am so happy and relieved that Notre-Dame was saved and restored and from the photos/videos that I have seen this week, the work done is magnificent. I regret that I didn't have a chance to stop by when I was in Paris this summer. Lovely that you sang there. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:09, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, but - as you can tell from the pic - we sang at home. - Listen today to the (new) Perplexities after Escher. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:17, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- You had me at Escher. Read the article. Will listen later today during train travel. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:20, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you ;) - Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:02, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I come to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:10, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'll look soon. I had surgery yesterday -I'll be fine- but have to limit what I do for the next few days. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:12, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Best wishes for your recovery! Cat to come tomorrow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:22, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Churrasco cat is up --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:33, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- Such a good kitty! Tomorrow! --Rosiestep (talk) 13:58, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! - Today is a woman poet's centenary. I added a pic of her to her article, and your cat matches perfectly! - I noticed the date by coincidence, looking over my sad list for some bday, and then it was 100! A bit of a shame that there's nothing about it on our Main page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:00, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hauptfriedhof Mainz today, see November. (If you have the time, take the YouTube walk by a young man from from Jamaica, speaking English.) - Love the kitty in your tender care! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:34, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for both links (Friederike Mayröcker and Hauptfriedhof Mainz); enjoyed reading both articles. That "She experimented with language" is particularly interesting to me; I'll see about reading some of her work. I was at an event earlier this month where each person was asked which book(s) changed their life, and I responded by starting with "'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe" before giving my answer (Alice in Wonderland); I have been in awe of experimental language since my mother read me those words. (The second book that I said changed my life was Fahrenheit 451, which led me to become a bibliophile, which led me to collecting books by Book League of America, which led me to making my first edits on Wikipedia.) --Rosiestep (talk) 12:30, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.
