I have a few questions for SaturnYoshi - from Zazinuva

[edit]

How do you join Project Wikitendo? How do you change your signature? What templates say that I play Mario and Zelda games?

The voices!!! I hear them too!!!!

[edit]

Well not really, but now I've got your attention... How do you get Japanese writing on your computer??!! I've been looking but none where can I find it ney! Is it a downloadable feature? Could you give me a link? Anything leading to the capture of this highly sought after feature will result in the reward of 5,000 Lesotho shell money (or 1c US). Note, postage & packaging for your shells will cost you $50 US. ;) Any info would help... Thanks a bunch!!! Spawn Man 00:30, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Adoption Program

[edit]
I have been trying to figure out who to get it to show my name as an adopter, but it won't work. Could you please help me.--Rat235478683-- (and do you have a user name on Super Mario Wiki? If so, my user name is Aipom)

Questions:
Have you succeeded in finding someone to adopt yet? Also, the SaturnYoshi name on the Super Mario Wiki is mine. It's been so long since I've been to that site that I forgot that I even regestered. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 16:11, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've found someone by the name of User:HunTheGoaT. But, I don't know how to tell him or her that I will adopt him or how to get it to put that I'm trying to adopt on the computer.--Rat235478683--
Thank You.--Rat235478683--(expect something special to come later today.)

Job well done:
You're welcome!! I added boxes to both of your pages. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 16:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Fonts, Colors, Signatures, and your comment on the Talk Page for May

[edit]
Hey, Yoshi. You didn't have to tell me to take a chill pill on the Talk Page for May, you know. I was feeling perfectly fine, but was just annoyed that even a simple matter of her age can get so messed up and complicated to the point where I had to use BitTorrent just to get all the facts right (it started off as 10, then it was removed, and now it is back, as 10!).
In any case, I was wondering: How did you get the fonts and colors as a signature? If you are free, could you please explain to me the different colors and fonts I can use on the English Wikipedia, and how to put them as a signature? Thanks in advance. -- A. Exeunt 01:02, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long-winded:
I can understand how it can be upsetting and such when you have the info and no one wants to listen. It's quite alright in the way you responded.

Now for fonts and colors in signatures... For colors, I go here. I choose the worded colors because it's easier to tell someone else what the color is. The code fo this would be: <font color="blue">WORD</font> . I used blue in the example but you can use any color you wish. This is what the example would look like: WORD .

For fonts the code is: <font face="comic sans ms">Comic Sans MS</font> . I used Comic Sans MS in the example. The result is: Comic Sans MS .

For both you can combine: <font color="blue" face="comic sans ms">Comic Sans MS</font> . Result: Comic Sans MS.

Now for a signature. In order for you signature to take people to your Userpage and such, you'll have to link it in the signature bar under preferences. So, let's say you wanted your sig to take someone to your Userpage, but you wanted the letter "t" to link to your talk page. This is how you would link it: A. Exeunt. This is how it would look: A. Exeunt. Note: the letter "t" is bold because this is your Talk page, otherwise it would look like the others. To add colors and fonts, you place the code after the vertical bar (|) in the links. So let's make the name in Times New Roman with a red color and have the Talk page link blue.

This would be the code: <font color="red" face ="times new roman">A. Exeun</font><font color="blue" face = "times new roman">t</font>.

And the result: A. Exeunt. Again the "t" is bold because this is your Talk page.

You would place this code (or one of your choosing, of course) in the signature bar under your preferences. Then click on "Raw Signature" and Save. You can create links to any of you sub-pages you have as well and use as many colors as you want. But the more links and colors you use, the longer the sig will look in "wiki markup" and could cause someone to complain. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Sorry for this long winded explanation. I hope this helps. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:08, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, Yoshi. Sometimes, a long-winded explanation is the best one. -- A. Exeunt 08:38, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon me, but I have tested my new signature here (I just hope they don't sue me).
Just some information on the font and colors: I used CopperPlate Gothic Bold for "Altiris" as a tribute to Descent³, while I used Bankgothic MD BT for "Exeunt" as a tribute to FreeSpace 2. As for the DarkRed color in "Exeunt", it is a nod to the Shivans, the xenocidal race in the FreeSpace universe. I chose DarkGreen and Green for "Altiris" due to the fact that it is the most commonly used color on HUD messages in Descent³. It also signifies, in some sense, the Terrans in FreeSpace.
One last note: I use the nickname "Altiris Exeunt" on Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Spaces, as well as formerly on the Microsoft Network. However, when I was creating a new account here on Wikipedia, I was wary that using just "Altiris" alone might be copyright infringement. That was why I used "A. Exeunt" instead of "Altiris" or "Altiris Exeunt". Bear in mind, however, that I have no intention of infringing copyright on purpose. Once again, thanks for your help on this matter. -- Altiris Exeunt 07:23, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing (sorry to harp on this issue for so long, but I thought it was worth mentioning): I also noticed that, in order to see the signature correctly, the font must be installed on the computer you use to view the signature. If the font is not installed, the standard font will be used. I noticed this when I viewed this page on another computer that did not have the Bankgothic MD BT font installed on it. -- Altiris Exeunt 04:04, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Skeletor vs. Highway

[edit]

Have mercy! The IP that called you a homosexual a while back has returned and is trying to peel the skin off our friend HighwayCello. As you said, some people just need to be sedated and locked away... I have updated my keepers page with the latest on this blitzkrieg; you can now get there easily with the Donate link in my newest sig. And by the way, several times you had inserted some keepers into my list directly; though highly appreciated, I really would prefer all submissions to be showcased on the keepers talkpage first before I put them on the main list. Thanks, and be on the lookout for supervillains. ^_^ Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Donate) 23:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References section

[edit]
Why did you remove the "References" section from Jarek? This is one of the most outstanding issues that exists in just about all MK articles as of now, and I was just beginning a very slow process of actually adding references starting with a few character articles. MarphyBlack 02:05, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me:
I actually moved his Armageddon ending info up a little. The link is still there and can be moved down if you desire. The other link went to YouTube, and that site should not be used as a reference. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You changed the MK Warehouse link from pointing to a reference to simply being an external link (Why is this? What's wrong with having the link be a reference?). The code for the YouTube reference is still in the article, but you removed the actual References section. I know YouTube is discouraged as a source, but Midway has released some of the Armageddon bio videos publicly separate from the game. However, it's not very easy to link to the embedded Flash videos located on the official MK:A site, nor directly linking to whatever crazy method Gamespot and other sites use for hosted videos. YouTube just happens to be the most convenient and practical location for these videos. MarphyBlack 02:26, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me:
Okay, what I was actually doing was adding a link to all character pages. Most of them didn't even have a reference section, and I was only trying to uniform them. I'm sorry to admit that I'm not all that up on adding referencing sections. However, if we can work together, then I believe that we can make the character pages a lot better. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding the section now will make (and possibly even encourage) adding references much more readily in the future. For example, the links you're adding to MK Warehouse could easily be justified as being references. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, as the site is a very reliable and established source. I suppose that the YouTube links don't have to stay, but they should still be mentioned as they're the actual source for these pieces of information.
Anyway, I don't mind doing all the References section formatting stuff by myself. It's pretty simple and will allow me to have a look over all the articles as a whole again, which I've been meaning to do for a while. As of right now a few articles are not consistent with the rest, as you mentioned, but this is only temporary. I was just testing stuff today; I'll do the bulk of the work tomorrow. MarphyBlack 02:49, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me:
I restored the reference sections on the pages I changed with slight alterations to the "Warehouse" links. I'm still adding the links to the rest of the characters and they can be used for actual reference sections when they are created. All the links can be found at the end of the story section, and the YouTube references are still in tact on the three pages I took them off. I believe that Jarek, Mokap and Motaro were the only ones. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:02, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

We originally had all of those up, but they were voted down in favor of the anime. There are blank copies of those images without the cover material, but I believe they were voted down because they were made after the fact of the series, therefore were not feasible. Also the issues of spoilers and flexibility--those forms did not show up in the anime. The images thus needed to be universal. Thus, the "super" form was voted on because it shows up manga and anime, and also would make the Inners consistent with the outers without much confusion. Keep searching for anime "Super" form images of the outers. I have ones on proposal, but I don't think anyone likes the sets.... --Hitsuji Kinno 00:45, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons for Quitting

[edit]
This is the "Wikipedia" reason I'm quitting. These fair use laws (even though I don't live in Florida), these complaints, these WP:____ which I haven't even heard about, these facts they've reverted even though they know it's true but it's unsourced even though there isn't any source of it yet on the internet). My immediate "BOO"s on my self-RfA really helped my stress now.
Now the real world. You see, the person behind Simply MP had been invading my privacy making fun of my userpage, and that was a little takedown. My mother has anger issues, my sister is a demon, my school has cruel teachers and even crueler bullies, etc. etc. etc.
Good friends, I say goodbye. I might still come back to chat, or edit my fav pages, but the number-two (can't forget Jimbo ;) ) user is not gonna do anything spectacular anymore.
SaturnYoshi, I remember Legendary Pokémon well, and now I must say goodbye. ;)

I made the "See also" links in the Senshi profiles that way for the convenience of the person reading the article. I wanted to make it obvious that one of the (for instance) Jupiter links is the god, and one is the planet, with no confusion. Also, Mercury does in act have a disambiguation page, because of the metal. Earth probably didn't need to be disambiguated, though. Anyway, if you still disagree it isn't a big deal, but I wanted to explain the reasoning. I still think it's a good idea. ^^ --Masamage 08:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It does seem to be a subject you know quite a bit about. But you are not communicating to the rest of us the gist of your argument. I myself have NO idea what "Homosexual Humor" is, or why you think the heterosexual Cohen would be a purveyor of it. Frankly, I venture that you are yourself confused about the issue, and about yourself. But that's just my opinion. One you practically BEGGED me to share with you. WP:ADOPT

[edit]

Hi there,

As a current Adopter with the Adopt-a-User program there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention.

A new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you may have found useful as an Adopter, as well as recount any experiences that you think may help others. If you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

Also the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, on offering adoption please change the Adoptme template to Adoptoffer on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking.

Furthermore numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Finally - thanks for all your hard work, keep it up - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 14:01, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lena Olin

[edit]

Hi, Saturn. I saw your fair use rationale to image Irina Derevko, played by actress Lena Olin. I'd like to use this image in her own article, because of an important statement there about her career; I would like use the image of the character in Alias because of this text out there: "From 2002 to 2006, Olin appeared opposite Jennifer Garner in her first American television role ever; on the second season of the successful television series Alias. For her work on the series as Irina Derevko, Olin received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2003. Olin received good reviews for her part in Alias — particularly her chemistry with Victor Garber, who played her former husband and sometime-enemy Jack Bristow — and was rumored to have been offered a salary in excess of $100,000 per episode to remain part of the cast. She left the show after her first and only season, however, to spend more time with her family in New York.".

Could you make some adaptation to the rationale and place the image there too? Thanks. Caravaggio31 04:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Caravaggio31[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Talismans.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:SailorLuna.PNG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (File:ChibiChibi.PNG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ChibiChibi.PNG.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Wikimedia events in Missouri and Kansas!

[edit]

You're invited to 3 exciting events Wikipedians are planning in your region this June—a tour and meetup at the National Archives in Kansas City, and Wiknics in Wichita and St. Louis:

Kansas City
Saturday, June 16, starting at 9 a.m.National Archives in Kansas City
  • This full-day event will include a tour of the facility; presentations from National Archives Wikipedian-in-Residence, Dominic McDevitt-Parks, and Exhibit Specialist, Dee Harris; and time in the research room to work on projects. The focus of the projects will be scanning, writing articles, transcribing, or categorizing images on Commons.

Wikipedians from St. Louis and elsewhere in the region are encouraged to make a day-trip of it and come to Kansas City for this special opportunity!

And two local editions of the Great American Wiknic, the "picnic anyone can edit." Come meet (and geek out with, if you want) your local Wikipedians in a laid-back atmosphere:

Wichita
Saturday, June 23, starting at 1 p.m. — Central Riverside Park
  • Join the 1st annual Wichita Wiknic: The Sunflower State blooms Free Knowledge!
St. Louis
Saturday, June 23, starting at 11 a.m. — Forest Park Visitors' Center
  • Join the 2nd annual St Louis Wiknic: The Gateway to the West is now The Gateway to the Wiki!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
