If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Orphaned fair use image (Image:TickTickBoomcoverart.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:TickTickBoomcoverart.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated

[edit]

Hello there, I am a fellow member of Wikiproject jazz. I was wondering, if you had a moment to spare, if you would be willing to give your opinion on a matter at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 June 15 concerning a category I created. The category is [[Category:Jazz musicians of New Orleans]], and it has been proposed that the article be merged with Musicians of New Orleans and American jazz musicians. This is precisely why I created the category, because it seemed to me the birthplace of jazz music and continous modern symbol of jazz certainly deserves a category unto itself. Regardless of your opinion, I would greatly appreciate your input there so as to have a discussion over the matter. Thanks. (Mind meal 03:24, 15 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

New categories for jazz musicians

[edit]

Hello fellow member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Jazz! I am delivering this message to all members of the project to inform them of a major addition to the evolution of this project. Please see Category:Jazz musicians by genre to familiarize yourselves with the new categories for jazz musicians. Most of the genre categories contain sub-genres in their drop-down menus, so be sure to open them up! I am sending this to everyone to speed up the population of these categories. The sub-genres have been carefully researched to ensure they belong under their corresponding "mother genre"! And please, when in doubt do not categorize something via an assumption. Well, that about covers it! Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.(Mind meal 05:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Nomination of an article for deletion

[edit]

dear Singcal: Just a quick note regarding the note appearing below this referring to the proposed deletion of the articleAmerican Rhapsody. This note was left by me pjs012915. Sorry I forgot to sign it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pjs012915 (talkcontribs) 21:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC) Dear Singcal: This is in reference to your proposed deletion of the article American Rhapsody and the subsequent tag of the article back to the main article listing for the composer. As the composer's son I have supplied the missing details describing the composition in greater detail illustrating the structural development within each of the four sections of the rhapsody. I apologize for not providing sufficient details for the article on a more timely basis. I hope that these alterations are adequate to allow the article to remain as a separate listing for piano and/or accordion compositions in the encyclopedia. Kindly remove the tag identifying this article for deletion and/or redirect at your earliest convenience. In the event that you have any questions or wish to discuss the composition in greater detail, feel free to contact me at my talk page at pjs012915. Thanks once again for your kind consideration and assistance with the editing. 2/27/08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.177.21.6 (talk) 21:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Singcal. I noticed you had added a notability tag to the page of Nlan_Stlz, which was then removed. Someone recently added an AfD tag which was removed today, so I replaced it. Unfortunately, I am unable to properly submit a request for the article to be deleted because I do not have an account. As someone who has raised questions about this article in the past, would you be willing to spare a moment to officially nominate it for deletion? (71.193.216.156 04:14, 17 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

As author of the article, I put a tag for speedy deletion, but I'm not sure if that's the right way to go about it. The debate has gone on for too long, and it is too difficult to maintain. I'd like to see the page disappear immediately. Styxmahler 17:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of Nlan Stlz, I know for a fact that the creator of the article IS Nlan Stlz because the guy (Styx i think his name is), emailed me and messaged me on MySpace and his real name is Nlan Stlz. Therefore the article is self-promotion. Also, I'm not all professional and vested in real life :P Most of the time I'm either stoned or asleep. And why I'm so calm in debates? I count to 10, then go and have a cigarette. It calms me down and I can resume good editing. =) [Tyler] (talk/contribs) 21:44, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basically you're not doing things correctly. You just don't come along and tag existing encyclopedia articles that have been here for over a year like you did to Giannis Markopoulos just because for you they don't seem "notable". Either you place a prod tmeplate in them and kindly ask to editor to elaborate on them or you take it to afd where an article may be deleted after a formal consensus. Incidentally this Greek composer has had his music on compilations with people such as Mikis Theodorakis and has produced many records with Universal Records a major interntational record label. I suggest in future you undergo things professionally rather than trying to speedy existing stubs ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:24, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An FP Candidacy in which you voted has been updated

[edit]

Although this message concerns a current FPC, I would like to first disclaim that I am not canvassing votes (at least not intentionally).

Anyway, you opposed this nom on the grounds that it was not encyclopedic with respect to the Parthenon. I have since added the picture to ruins and Classical Greece, citing that the picture makes significant contributions to those articles. Several other users agree that it is especially relevant and powerful in this new context. If you like, please see for yourself. I would ask that you please revisit and review the FPC nom, consider the picture's enc. value in its new context, and update your vote to address this change.

Much appreciated, and sorry if I was wrong in sending this message. --Malachirality 00:13, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Singcal, WP:PROD policy is very clear that a proposed deletion tag should not be reinstated once it has been removed by anyone. If you really think that this article should be deleted then you should use the WP:AFD process, but I would advised against it as the references which I added show notability. Also I would point out that the article was not orphaned when you put the first prod tag on, and even if it had been that would not have been a criterion for deletion. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Tick Tick Boom.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tick Tick Boom.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anne McGinty

[edit]

Hi SingCal. I've been away from Wikipedia for a while and am somewhat disappointed to see that the Anne McGinty article has been deleted. WP:MUSIC notwithstanding, I think there are several composers of typical mainstream "band pieces" (McGinty included) who are indeed notable due to their prominence in the world of high school band music -- despite the fact that this world isn't one that's well documented in reference materials. I had planned to write pages for other prominent mainstream concert band composers as well (e.g. Mark Williams, Jim Curnow, Dave Black), but I doubt these would fare any better against WP: MUSIC. I still strongly believe that they *are* notable, but I'm not interested in fighting a battle over it. Regards, WillNL (talk) 23:13, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Thai Breakdancers.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Thai Breakdancers.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Thai Breakdancers.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 09:32, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please review these proposed changes

I see you nominated this article previously. It would be good if you could review it again. Thanks. Deskford (talk) 15:52, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello SingCal! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 710 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
