I voted to merge the contents of the article with the article on the RF spectrum. I have to agree that it's madness to have one article for every single frequency in a given part of radio spectrum. If you have an article on 87.9, that opens the door for someone to make an article for every 200 kc thereafter through 107.9, then someone in the UK might make 88.0, 88.2, blah blah. No need for that. All relevant data should probably be merged into the RF spectrum article. Looks like the Rhode Island LP stations remain (which they should) and that town in Florida, you are correct, the -LP call sign should remain and in most cases the call sign should remain as it is, not knocked down to the 4 letter abbrev. Why are you insisting on reporting shortwave frequencies in megahertz and then removing "useless zeroes"? First of all, the zeroes are not useless, see significant figures to understand why. Second of all, shortwave frequencies are often reported in either kHz or MHz, and when reporting in MHz, the nearly universal practice is to include 3 significant figures after the decimal point. WBCQ's own web pages report them both ways, and includes the zeroes that you deem "useless" when using MHz. See, e.g., wbcq.com home page: "Effective Friday, November 9, 2007, WBCQ's 18.910 MHz service has changed frequencies to 17.495 MHz." As you say you are familiar with significant figures as used in physics, then you should also be aware that a frequency measurement in kHz or MHz (by the way, I don't think I've seen any publications printed later than 1979 that use "kc." and "Mc.") is a physical quantity. Radio is indeed physics, not math. We don't need to say "18.91000" because shortwave stations are generally 5 kHz apart, so any precision beyond that would be useless and redundant. The issue is not about confusion, but about having a consistent style in Wikipedia. To further my argument, I cite the Wikipedia Manual of Style on decimal points, which says: "The number of decimal places should be consistent within a list or context (The response rates were 41.0 and 47.4 percent, respectively, not The response rates were 41 and 47.4 percent, respectively), except in the unusual instances where the items were measured with unequal precision." As I have no desire to get involved in a lame edit war over this, I will ask for a consensus at WikiProject Radio Stations and WikiProject Amateur radio. I fail to see why you continue to revert this page despite my explanation as to my edits. It was determined MONTHS ago at WP:WPRS (a wikiproject you don't belong to, but might like to join) that this was an appropriate format for these lists. 49 lists do not include low-power stations, and there is no reason for the 50th one to do so. Your continued WP:OWNing of this list only makes you look bad. The LPFM stations are included in the appropriate categories and the appropriate templates. I have spoken recently with Allan Weiner, the owner of WBCQ, WXCQ and WBCQ-FM, as well as several people who live nearby. From this I determined:

• WBCQ-FM signed on several weeks ago and on Thursday, August 8, began a new LMA country music format.

• 780 terminated its relationship with Channel X Radio several months ago and is pending a new format/LMA using calls WXCQ. The new client may change the calls but for now it's WXCQ.

• The FCC database is certainly not up to date with respect to these registrations!!

I recommend reverting or changing your recent edits.

I have proposed {{AM stereo radio stations}} for deletion as a substantial duplicate of {{AM Stereo radio stations}}. I see that you created both of these and that there are subtle differences between the two. I had an issue with the notability because 'a list of radio stations' is nothing particular or encyclopedic. I see there is a bit more information now, so if it keeps going this way, then everything is fine :) The article was quite confusing then (The confuion's gone now, but I'd like to see some more improvements though, especially some wikification) especially regarding this spanish radio station airing games and not being part of a network. Q1: what games? Q2: Why are we talking about a radio station that is not part of a network on a particular network's article? I generally suggest adding information about their programs, the history of the network, any other notable thing about this network, and some good wikification. Places are more important, provided they are specific enough. So for example on that page we would link Dallas but not Texas - because someone trying to understand KSEX-LP is more likely to find useful information in the Dallas page (about demographics, topography etc). Similarly if you look at June 12 there is no information relating to KSEX-LP - nor should there be. The fact that KSEX-Lp was awarded a permit on June 12 of some random year does not belong on that page, has nothing to do with the Peasants Revolt arriving at Blackheath, and so forth. You will find guidance at WP:MOSNUM and WP:CONTEXT.

As for discussion, the matter has been under discussion for maybe five years, culminating in a poll Wikipedia:Date_formatting_and_linking_poll#Month-day_linking.

If I am so inclined, I can look up other information about June 12. While it's true I can also enter the date in the find field box, some other people may not know June 12 even has a page. When I started here 4 years ago I didn't know dates would have their own pages or years. Now there are year pages and "Year in...(category) pages too." So, KSEX-LP's sign-on date may be included in 1997 in television. As for no value being in the link, I think that depends on who is clicking the link. Someone in Dallas or elsewhere may not know of the Peasants' Revolt nor, up to that point, care.

As for places, I've seen that the "standard" (again, I don't know if there is one nor where to go to find the places equivalent of the dates group) is to link BOTH the community and larger jurisdiction (states, provinces, counties, etc.) separately (e.g.: Dallas, Texas). So someone can click on Dallas OR Texas and find out information on either instead of just being Dallas, Texas. To me the dates are as important as places because it helps me think of what the world was like when an even happened. The history of a station that started September 9, 2001 or July 18, 1969 would be different that one started 4 days after, for example. What did its crew have to do in the first few days of broadcasting when the event happened or did they decide to postpone their launch? Or, what about a group of ex-G.I.s who bought a station and flipped its format on V.J. Day? The very date itself is then relevant to the history of the station. Another example would be someone thinking to themselves "CZAR in Ottawa started on July 1? What's July 1? *click* Oh, it's Canada Day!" The beauty of Wikipedia, to me, seems not to be that it's a defacto depository of all the world's information but that other information can be found out that somebody may not have thought to even look up before. It's all interwoven like a web. It looked like the vote has already been decided and I don't know if it's too late to add my 2 cents. Per your revert here, you should be aware that dates (including DOBs) are no longer linked per MOS:UNLINKYEARS. There is no relevance to linking to August 8 when that page simply says that Joe Tex (or whomever) was born on that date and nothing more. That info is already in the article and doesn't need to be explained further. Additionally, dates should be properly spaced and include an en dash (per MOS:DOB) Thanks. It's not a game. A game is when some group comes out of nowhere and decides what they want is going to be the only way ANYBODY can do things. One day, out of nowhere these bots & people started delinking dates. So I chose to fight. Dates had been linked since I started here & there has never been a good reason to stop the practice presented to me or anybody else that I was able to find. Since it seemed to be an arbitrary practice, why go along with it. See, that's the beauty: you CAN pick & choose which ones to go along with. You go along with the right ones & fight the wrong ones. If there are practices you don't like but go along with, then fight! Any words misusing an apostrophe, I fix.

Yes, the date-autoformatting. But it goes further than that. The past year in particular has seen a tightening of the guidelines on overlinking more broadly, to protect the linking system from the widespread dilution that was occurring. Readers are clearly more likely to click on an item if the text is not densely linked with useless links. I notice "radio" and "American" are typically linked in a few articles in your contribs list I looked at. These clearly should not be linked. Please see WP:LINK. Another issue is the bunching up of two or three geographical links, when just one (the most specific), is much more effective. Chicago, Illinois, not Chicago, Illinois. The overarching goal is to focus readers' attention on smaller bits of blue (otherwise the dilution effect weakens the wikilinking system). So, as above, bluing only "Chicago" is preferred to bluing both city and state (and country) name. If readers were going to click on anything, it would be the most specific; the Chicago article immediately presents links to state and country, anyway (the "chain" link effect). There is no need to shout at me in your edit summary. If you have something to say, it's best to use a talk page. Please note that WP:WPRS is not a Wikipedia policy. It is a WikiProject. It can make recommmendations, and set guidelines if there is consensus among a wider audience, but it is not a policy. In the future, please discuss changes like that on a talkpage instead of trying to discuss through edit summaries. I may not understand radio stations, but I do understand the Phillies, and I do understand that the callsign is denoted as it was in the source, so all I was doing was following a reliable source as dictated by WP:RS, an actual policy. • Yes, there were three changes:

• WP:MOSDASH concerns the use and placement of endashes (as ought to be used in the article) as opposed to hyphens and emdashes. FYI, the hyphen is often misused instead of the endash. If you are interested in their differences or ensuring their correct placement, you may wish to install this excellent tool, which takes the thinking out of dash usage.
• WP:MOSLINK referred to the linkage of the common term radio station. I guess one could argue that this link is highly relevant, but really one must be able to expect the reader's understanding of the subject will be deepened by clicking through to the target. However, it is one term I see overexploited. Broadcasting in the United States would be an improvement, either as [[Broadcasting in the United States|American radio station]], or unpiped in the 'See also' section.
• As Tony mentions below, use of the piped link [[1956 in radio|1956]] is deceptive, certainly in the context it was used in the article. There would not be a problem if the unpiped link was used, either adjacent to the station's birthdate or as a 'See also'.

• Incidentally, I would just say that the article has been on my watchlist for years. I cannot recall why I put it there, but suspect that I felt at the time there were issues. This edit: I query the benefit to the navigation system of covering up 1956 in radio by the pipe "1956". Isn't there a better way of showing readers this link-target, explicitly? I'd ordinarily agree with you on AM coming before FM (although, interestingly, I can't find any guideline in that regard anywhere on the WP:WPRS homepage). However, practically every single other market navbox is set up with FM as group 1, AM as group 2, and the call signs as group 3. It just wouldn't make sense for this one navbox to be different from the rest. If you think it's worthwhile, determing a standard format would certainly be interesting topic for the project talk page, as the other navboxes would need to be reformatted as well if there was to be a change. These aticles are for international events and should therefore use international date format. The preponderence of minor US entries does not justify the use US date format. The proliferation of "minor" (i.e. not internationally notable) US entries is probably due to the fact that when these articles (the early Years in radio articles anyway) were begun they were concerned solely with US radio. THis has been corrected to some extent by the inlcusion of non-US events, though some of those are also somewhat minor. As with the parent Year articles where there was, and still is, a US bias this has been ameliorated by the Year in Country articles. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give WBFJ a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into WBFJ (AM). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen.
