Disambiguation link notification for April 5
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Peta Murgatroyd, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Stay the Night (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Rollback
[edit]Hi Swinquest. I originally granted the right, but on a deeper review I'm unhappy with some edits that could be construed as edit warring, so for the time being I'm afraid not. Pedro : Chat 16:13, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- My intent was not to be part of the edit warring. I was simply removing the unsourced information from the article. Then I was actively looking for the protection policy and the policy to block IP addresses. If you look at my history as a whole, you will see that my edits are reasonable. Thus I am asking for a reconsideration of this decision. Thank you. swinquest (talk) 16:30, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Checking all the diffs, and the fact that you did ask the IP to stop, and recognising your overall edits my initial reaction to grant was correct. I've added the flag - but please remember to use this particular tool for clear vandalism - I'd suggest also that when using WP:UNDO it's handy to add an edit summary as well. Cheers. Pedro : Chat 17:11, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reconsideration, and your words of advise. I will use the rollback feature ONLY for clear vandalism. swinquest (talk) 17:14, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- No probs. Sorry your RFA got NOTNOWed - alas the standards are much higher than once they were! Happy editing. Pedro : Chat 17:19, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Fit Deletion Guidelines???

I am going through all of the and I came across 2007 suicide bombings in Iraq. Is an article like this really necessary? There have been a number of dead links (70) and a number of BOT messages on the talk page. Does this meet the deletion policy? swinquest (talk) 18:35, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Despite the mess the article is in, it seems as if the topic itself is notable. Dead links are not a reason for deletion (since that just means that sources are not accessible anymore, not that they don't exist). It probably is either a fork of 2007 in Iraq or should be incorporated there. I'd suggest you ask on the related talk pages (for example Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Iraq or Talk:2007 in Iraq) whether someone with experience in this area can help assessing whether the information should be merged, reorganized or (re)moved. RfA
[edit]Heya, clicking on the 'Click here to leave a message' on your page leads to some other talk page. Also, as per your AfD, I did oppose, agreed, but I feel you have a lot to learn. After seeing a few of your edits, I feel you have the potential to learn a LOT. I'd be glad to be of any assistance out here. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 06:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind words. When I pursue the RfA again, I will seek your opinion. As for the New Message link, it was linked to my old username (just switched within the past month). Thank you for pointing that out. It has been corrected. swinquest (talk) 13:40, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sure. Just read the policies once. Intereact with admins, go thru WP:ANI, and see how admins respond to stuff. That would make you understand how Adminship works. And if you understand them, then you'd be a great admin. Remember, I'm not an admin my self. : ) --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:11, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Removing dead links
[edit]I am curious as to why you insist on removing dead links from this article, when that is not the preferred course of action on Wikipedia. Please read WP:Dead links. There are many reasons to leave dead links alone. I do not see how it is hurting anything to keep them, as long as they are properly labeled as dead. Elizium23 (talk) 04:30, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Creightonmedcenterfront.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Creightonmedcenterfront.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:31, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Please delete this image as I changed my mind against adding it. Thank you!! swinquest (talk) 18:03, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Swinquest. It has now been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled 2012–13 United States network television schedule (2).
The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply {{db-afc}}

Kearney High School
[edit]Hello. Are you still editing? Since you are the initial creator of the above article, can we use {{Use mdy dates}} per WP:STRONGNAT since it is an article on American school? Your feedback will help me solve a problem that I am dealing with user Ammodramus. Many thanks.--Mishae (talk) 15:14, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- I edit some but have not for a while due to the amount of time I have. I can try to assist. what do you need assistance with? swinquest (talk) 21:10, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well O.K. I have tried to reason with user Ammodramus about weather or not to use Mdy or YY-MM-DD dates in Kearney High School. User Ammodramus, argued that because the article is written by you, it should be YY-MM-DD. I however, contested it because its an American article so it should use Mdy date format. He reverted my edit here and then when I tried to overwrite his revert, he overwrote mine. So now, I need to ask your opinion as an initial creator.--Mishae (talk) 01:01, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- The format needs to be in Mdy format as Kearney High School is an American school. I hope this helps. swinquest (talk) 12:17, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- O.K. Can you do me another favor, can you undo Ammodramus's edit? I just don't want to breach 3 revert rule. Thanks.--Mishae (talk) 15:14, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- In reviewing other articles (Cincinnati Bengals is a random one I looked up), they use both date formats in the references. I thought you were talking about the general body of the article. I would recommend asking for guidance on the Help Desk page. I do not want to give you false information. I personally have used both formats. swinquest (talk) 15:53, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Both dates are worse, its better to stick to one of them. I think help desk will have the same editors as Ammodramus who will probably object my theory. I think I should wait until he will retire and I will then do it the way that it should be not the way how Ammodramus decided it fits his agenda.--Mishae (talk) 16:42, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
[edit]Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
