--Marek4 (talk) 22:07, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Primerov tega neustreznega prevoda kar mrgoli v angleški WP. Predlagam nam. grammar school primernejši prevod high school, tj. šola med osnovno šolo in fakulteto. Gimnazija pač ne obstaja v angl. --Marek4 (talk) 21:13, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Pozdravljeni! HVala!
Gradisca d'Isonzo

Rožman, Urbančič...
[edit]Really? NPOV tags are normally added by people who just don't like what they are reading, but can't come up with any sources to 'correct' it. Otherwise, other material would be added to 'balance' the alleged NPOV article. So let's go through each article line by line, and you can point out what is POV rather than fact. Every statement is referenced, so you'll need counter sources. Pa znam slovensko... ni problema. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 23:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Reply
[edit]I make no allegation that you are biased. I know that you are not, and everything goes forward under WP:AGF.
However, you cannot throw tags such as {{POV|date=March 2008}} without providing evidence. It is so important to point this out... just because Wiki is the free, democratic encyclopedia, doesn't mean that you can throw whatever you like into any article. So explain and justify what you want to say please...
Come forward with sources, as I have done, and help make the articles better. Until then, I'll take your tags off, not because they are in bad faith, ut because they have no references. They are just your opinion. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 00:35, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Conflict
[edit]Viaticus, please, I beg you, be careful. I have taken enormous care on what are contentious issues in Slovenia to source everything. If you have additional information, please bring it to the table. I welcome it. I will happily incorporate it into the articles, if it is well sourced etc. But your edits and talk page contributions this evening indicate a WP:POV as you added controversial tags to the articles without first discussing it at the talk page, or presenting alternative ideas. What exactly do you want? Just to rubbish the article?
And Wikipedia is not a wedding: WP:NPOV tags cannot be thrown around like confetti because somebody feels like it. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 00:48, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Photos
[edit]Why don't you go through the links in Gregorij Rožman? Why don't you look at Rosener's execution notices, and then the photos of Rožman happily shaking hands with him two years later? I don't know what more proof you need. Uran has sucked you in. I'm disappointed in you. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 01:13, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Rosener
[edit]The links are to f+++ckng scans of the execution notices. Photos, if you like. You are taking me down a path to war, and I don't want to go there. Revert your changes, or I'll go to Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 01:22, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- What do you want? I've said that constructive edits are welcome. But so far you've indicated that you want to make Wikipedia a love up to Erwin Rosener. --AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 01:37, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Mentoring, guidance, coaching
[edit]Viator, I've noticed that of your edits of substance (rather than the ones where you try, sometimes unsuccessfully, to create or correct wikilinks) often things don't go especially well. A fair number of Homer Simpson D'oh! moments in there, buddy. You don't make that many actual additions - it's mostly tweaking - but errors of fact or of spelling, for example, seem to be rather too frequent for comfort. So, in the spirit of Wikicollaboration, I've come here to say that I'd be happy to offer you mentoring. I could follow you, correcting your spelling, for example, or give you advice about Wiki policies before you make embarrassingly incorrect statements. What do you think? I don't have a huge amount of free time at the moment, but I'm sure it'd be helpful in the future if I shadowed you for a while until you got up to speed on Wiki policies and so on. Have a think about it over the weekend, and then we'll see next week. I'm sure that with my advice and guidance you could become a truly helpful Wiki editor. All the best. Tags
[edit]Viator, Wiki is not a playground. Your tags have been removed. Please be aware that your opinions may be interesting, but have no relevance in this encyclopedia. Wiki policy clearly states that tags cannot be thrown in. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 23:13, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK, Viator, I'll try to explain this clearly. Perhaps if I type slowly it might help you. You wrote "I believe the articles are not neutral (...) that's why I have tagged them". Viator, as I've explained to you before, your beliefs are irrelevant here at Wikipedia. So are mine. What is important here is the verifiability of statements and assertions. Then you wrote "I have explained my arguments very clearly, extensively and with a great degree of tollerance". The whole point is that you can't leave tags there forever with no intention to improve an article. You refuse to contribute constructively. You have on your user page "I am a young historian", you frequently go on about Boris Mlakar and others while clearly having not the first idea what you are talking about. You've never read anything by Mlakar. That's obvious. See this for example as your most embarrassing mistake [2] And that is why you do not do any positive editing in this area: you simply don't know enough. I have tried repeatedly to compromise, to listen, to understand, I have asked you repeatedly to bring forward your proposed alternative wordings for the three articles but had nothing back from you. Not a single word. And that's why you are being spoken to like this: you've made no attempt to be constructive in any way at any time. You say "Please restrain from vandalist behaviour, otherwise I will have to report you". Go right ahead, Viator. You sound just like my dear friend User:Cherso. Go ahead. Report me. For what? "And I will not tollerate your disrespectful speech: you have no right to tell me to shut up". Respect has to be earned, Viator. And if I choose to tell you to shut up, I will do so. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 22:53, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Again, compromise
[edit]Viator, here I am again. I come in peace. I know you feel uncomfortable, perhaps embarrassed, about our conversations as so far you have had nothing positive to contribute to any of our articles. Not a single word, despite all the help I've offered. And I know that you have not enjoyed the way I have addressed you sometimes. I'm sorry about that, but I will point out here that I was extremely f++king angry that I tried to edit the intro to the Rožman article to meet your concerns but had no feedback from you. None. Not a f++king word of encouragement.
So that we can perhaps go forward, let me help you. I'm not bothered at all when someone is "uncivil" toward me though I get really upset when people misrepresent sources, distort the facts, and so on. To be honest I think the "he called me a bad name" complaints that we see so often are immature; one expects that on a playground and not in a project to build an encyclopedia. What Wikipedia counts as "civility" often looks more like unctuous ingratiation, and what Wikipedia counts as "incivility" often looks more like forthright commentary.
However, I am here to say to you again that we can move these articles forward together (if you want to) and that being on bad terms will help nobody. This Wikipedia is a collaborative project that cannot succeed if drive-by taggings prevail. I'll say to you again: Tell me what you don't like and we'll work out a solution. And I don't mean "I don't like that section". I mean precisely what words you think are unfair. Tell me sentences that you don't like. So, please bring your suggestions forward. We can discuss them, and, I'm sure, agree what should be a good article in each case.
If you don't want to edit these articles then just tell me. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 02:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Hello Slovenian friend
[edit]Hello there! I hope you like what I have been doing with your capital. Perhaps this could be done to many of your cities. Its time SLovenia was put on the map! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:03, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks it looks a beautiful place -I love all the architecture of the central and eastern Europe anyway. I had seen pictures of SLovenia in the snow on postage stamps and thought WOW! I had no idea it was so picturesque!! I've put my name down at Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/Slovenia as the first member -you joining would be a crucial part of it as you live in the country. Hopefully there will eventually be more people like yourself who are Slovenian and use English wikipedia and want to improve the articles. SLovenia at present is sub standard -but this can be changed!! If you have no objection I would like to copy the missing articles on your user page to the project page cool? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:10, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Welcome friend -nice to meet you! I look forward to seeing you around. I see you are at Uni in Budapest -I;ve done a lot of work on Category:Hungarian sculptors too and the national gallery etc in the city. Hungary looks lovely too! Hi I;ve created the below template for Celje. Could you help translate the red links for the places into english and help expand or add them. I;ve started a few stubs but can't speak the language unfortunately although I have learnt a few words such as grad and dom etc. Some fo the districts I;ve started have pages on SLovenian wiki ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:08, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Lists of slovenians
[edit]HI I have created List of Slovenian architects. I aim to created a full list using the recently created Template:Lists of Slovenians by occupation. Could you translate the links into english. e.g List of Slovenian admirals, List of Slovenian poets etc etc ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:43, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree there are probably some lesser notable bios in there, but the best way to start them is to copy the lists from SLovenian wiki and then if you feel appropriate we can filter out the lesser notable ones after. I'll try to stub a few, the problem is that all info is in SLovene and I can only make out the birth dates and field of study and perhaps university like Josip Križan I just started which a small stub is likely to attract the deletionist brigade. However I would feel very encouraged to start article if I can be assured that several editors can expand later ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
If you could translate the links for Template:Lists of Slovenians this would be a great start for Slovene biography on wikipedia ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
What I'll do is tag the new stubs I create with Template:Expand Slovenia which puts new stubs in Category:Slovenian articles needing translation so this way the project has a log of recently created articles which may require a bit of expansion to become acceptable. They don['t have to be expanded much but at least a little bit of knowledge added to them. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:45, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes I fully agree, it was intended as a tool, a platform to start the articles on but its probably best if they are moved to the project workspace e.g WikiProject Europe/Slovenia/Missing articles/Architects etc. If I start an article I'll be sure to see if it is potentially a good article and notable enough but you may need to decide this. I gather some editors on SLovenian wikipedia have got a bit over ambitious with their fellow countrymen ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:01, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Wow I'm amazed. Really most weren't notable?? I wonder why the editors on slovene wikipedia thought of generating such a list then ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:05, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Yup I fully agree with you, although google isn't always the best tool there is a great deal of uneveness. If their are no objections I'll stub those architects now with the tag. I'll keep you posted about any new lists so you can filter them ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

- This source says that "in 1960, the authorities again prohibited him from coming to Slovenia because he publicly protested in the Trieste newspapers against the suppression of the publication of Listina (‘The Document’) by Edvard Kocbek. In 1975, he raised a lot of dust together with writer Boris Pahor when they published an interview with Kocbek in which he spoke about the executions in Slovenia after the Second World War, which was considered to be a taboo topic at that time."
- The information that you added says: "In 1975, Pahor and Rebula published a book-interview entitled Edvard Kocbek: Pričevalec našega časa ("Edvard Kocbek: the Witness of Our Time"), in which Rebula condemned the summary killings of 12.000 memmbers of Slovene anti-comminist militia in May and June 1945, perpetrated by the Communist authorities. The book created a scandal in Yugoslavia and for five years Rebula was banned from entering Yugoslavia.[1]"
- When was he banned? Could you rectify this and add a footnote? Thanks. --Eleassar my talk 13:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Jože Javoršek
[edit]Great work. I was thinking about nominating it for a good article. The articles that are well written, sourced and cover the topic exhaustively are fine for this category. Probably you have written some more potential candidates recently, maybe Alojz Rebula? Let me know what you think. --Tone 19:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- And Boris Pahor as well. The only obvious thing that I miss is a very short introduction in these articles. Maybe you could expand them a bit, I suppose you're better at this than I am... Greetings. --Tone 20:08, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Pučnik is well-written as well. Maybe it would be good to improve reference style a bit, using the {{Citation}} consistently through the article would look very nice though it's extra work. Javoršek intro is fine now, Pahor could still have some more... Have you noticed Rebula's article ni the DYK on the Main page? I've just corrected the tense, he's still alive. --Tone 20:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I have just nominated Cankar and Župančič for GA because they are stylistically the best in my opinion. I suppose we can get both of them to FA with not much extra work but let's see what the GA review says. Cheers. --Tone 22:47, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Flag of the Province of Ljubljana
[edit]It must have existed. And I have the source that it did exist http://www.un.int/slovenia/insignia.html speaks of the flag used during WWII. If this flag shouldn't be used I would use commons:Image:Slovene Nation Flag.svg instead. Your oppinion, please without edit-waring. -- Imbris (talk) 21:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Please do not state that this Province had no flag, especially without and proof. You ask me to prove that this flag was used. It was used and not just by the Slovene Home Guard it was used in general. If this usage was not de jure it was most certainly been de facto. Your position seems to me like an general disbelief and not as a hard-fact oppinion. -- Imbris (talk) 21:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
You are insisting in deletionist crusade at every point where (by your account) is not sufficient data. It is most clear that this Province had a flag. Slovene Home Guard flag was used earlier as the flag of other Axis-supporters military units. When I have changed the text-caption under the flag you have also deleted it. It is most clear that the province existed under the Italians but also under the Germans. Flag of the Slovene Nation has been used before the WWII and during. -- Imbris (talk) 20:20, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Zizek lead description
[edit]I just reverted you on the lead. I had initially thought you had changed an existing adjective "Marxist" to "Slovene", but then I noticed that the national origin adjective had actually be in place until a very recent edit by an anon editor. So my revert was quicker than it needed to be.
Nonetheless, I think the anon's edit is an improvement. We give Zizek's birthplace in the next sentence, so elaborating on his political/philosophical direction is more informative than just repeating that information. All the best, LotLE×talk 21:43, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Feri Lainšček
[edit]A tag has been placed on Feri Lainšček requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Slovenian naval jack

Minister izda predpis o izobešanju slovenske pomorske zastave.
Dear Viator slovenicus - Thank you for the improvements to the article I started on Prežihov Voranc. I was very pleased to see the article grow so quickly. I am not a Slovenian speaker and came across Mr Voranc's work whilst on holiday in Slovenia by way of an English translation. I hope that the wikipedia article can garner just enough interest to see more translated.

To ni producirala niti ena slovenska narečja. Doncseczznánje 17:12, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Any advice? (Prekmurje etc.)
[edit]Hi Viator. I'm a relative newbie to Wikipedia, and am hoping you can offer some advice on this Slovenian topic. I've been trying to do some cleanup here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prekmurian_dialect. Unfortunately, contributor Doncsecz has been continually reverting the edits to what others have already described as "not ... very English", "nearly completely ununderstandable English", and so on (I suspect it may be actually machine translation and not actual human production). It's becoming tedious to undo the reversions as I continue to move forward on the cleanup (he or she seems to be stuck on the very un-English form "Prekmurian"). Is there some kind of arbitration that the matter can be referred to? I just don't know the procedure or if there is anything appropriate that can be done. You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:21, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Verify sources & image captions
[edit]Hi, Viator!
First, thanks for your large contribution to the Slovenia-related articles. Anyway, what I politely ask you is to conscientiously verify and cite sources (using inline citations) for the claims you make in articles. For example, the ethnic origin of Max Fabiani is probably Italian, at least according to [15]: "Poreklo družine je najbrž italijansko, kultura avstrijska, okolje v katerem so živeli pa slovensko podeželje." Also, the monument to Ivan Hribar has not been erected on the Prešeren Square, but on the Hribar Embankment.[16]
Another thing that I'd like to point to you is the use of period in image captions (see WP:CAPTION). Most captions are not real sentences, but extended nominal groups; for example, "The Conservatory during Macquarie Night Lights, a summer festival" (no final period), but "The Conservatory was spotlit during Macquarie Night Lights, a summer festival." (full sentence with final period).
Take this as a benevolent advice aimed at providing Wikipedia readers with high quality material. Have a nice day. --Eleassar my talk 10:14, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Discuss the contributions and not the contributors
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You are welcome to rephrase your comment as a civil criticism of the article. Thank you.
Your comment was relatively minor ("Don't be silly") in your recent edit summary on Slovenia. But that part of your comment was addressed to the motive or attitude of another editor. Best policy is to discuss the contribution to the encyclopedia and not the contributor. Cheers. N2e (talk) 20:31, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

I've just learned over the years that with WP editing, it is almost always a mistake to go even a little over the line on discussing other editors, rather than merely the editing. I know you meant well. N2e (talk) 05:20, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- You're right. My bad. Viator slovenicus (talk) 13:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Changes to the articles related to Ljubljana
[edit]Hi Viator, can you please leave a decent summary of the edits you make? I don't see the reason for the removal of quite illustrative images from the Vodnik Square and Tivoli Park. --Eleassar my talk 19:58, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- For the galleries, see WP:IG: "Images are typically interspersed individually throughout an article near the relevant text (see WP:MOSIMAGES)." For the naming of streets, I suggest you have a look at the examples of translated names in Category:Streets by city (for example Category:Streets in Warsaw). Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but Wikipedia is a collaborative project. --Eleassar my talk 20:12, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
CSUCTLT
[edit]Hi. Could you have a look at Confederazione dei Sindacati Unici Classisti del Territorio libero di Trieste and see if there is any Slovenian and/or Serbo-Croat material that could be used for expansion? The article is currently at T:TDYK, but is considered too short. Thanks, --Soman (talk) 03:22, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Flag of Slovenia
Tag at Rožman
[edit]Viator, you have shown in the past that your knowledge of these matters is extremely limited, probably restricted to some kind of propaganda from family members. You didn't even know that there were two Domobranci oaths of allegiance to the Third Reich. Please do not add tags to articles that you do not have enough subject knowledge to edit. Thanks, AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 21:55, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Viator, if you knew anything about the subject, you would be willing and perhaps able to entertain a talk page discussion. You are operating on pure prejudice, without a single reference to support your purely personal POV. Something (else) that you are unaware of is the requirement to justify a tag at the talk page of any article. You are unaware that you cannot simply add them - you have to explain why. So start explaining pronto. You've had enough time. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 22:34, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Viator, let's see your reasoned arguments, with their sources, if any. I think you are only here to edit for right-wing political purposes, without a book in the house. Not a single one. Nič. Nada. Niente.AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 23:29, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, if you are going to change one page, please update the others as well to make things consistent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:State_of_Slovenes,_Croats_and_Serbs#removal_of_the_Kingdom_of_Croatia-Slavonia James Michael DuPont (talk) 16:52, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
