Your contributed article, Tobacco science
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Tobacco science. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Tobacco. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Tobacco – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Eeekster (talk) 21:44, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
License tagging for File:General lemonnier.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:General lemonnier.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:05, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi Oaktree b, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 02:07, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Liberty Poole
[edit]Hi Oaktree b I noticed you did a fantastic job on Shannon Singh's article and was wondering if you might create one for Liberty Poole? - Thank you, I'll take a look at it. All depends on what sources are available. I get hits form the Mail and Daily Mirror, which aren't acceptable. Have to see if anything else comes up. Oaktree b (talk) 12:49, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

- I noticed, I believe the article has merit, found a few reputable sources, the Poole lady has been in a few reality TV shows in the UK for a number of episodes, should meet the notability requirements. The article about the skating show had a red link for it with all other contestants having articles, so there is some need for the article, as well. Oaktree b (talk) 21:11, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for trying. I've been at it for hours to try to assist the editor in understanding notability, and I think I'm just going in circles. Oh well. Singularity42 (talk) 20:29, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Clarifying the policy on content-free business articles
[edit]Hey! I've seen you around a whole bunch on AfD talking about articles that are just lists of financial transactions and stuff (like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jungle Ventures). I'm trying to clarify the policy on them a little, since there's definitely a small community of folks who are insistent that raising VC rounds establishes notability, and wondering if you might know how to go about it. I started a discussion here to try and clarify WP:NCORP here Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(organizations_and_companies)#Analyst_reports_in_WP:LISTED but it's got very little discussion so far and might not be enough. Thoughts? FalconK (talk) 02:10, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Article deletion confusion
[edit]I am sure your equally confused as me. My theory is that some article about a flood got nominated 4 deletion but the link to that deletion discussion got "lost in a flood"(I'll stop the dumb jokes)and the link to the flood deletion discussion goes to the yahwism deletion discussion. May ask permission to remove your question from the deletion debate so that debate stays on Yahwism. MAY I also ask to know the flood article title so I can help clear things up Greenhighwayconstruction (talk) 01:06, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- That's fine, I appreciate bad jokes! The flood article was "Bridgeton flood of 1934". No problem with moving things around as needed. Oaktree b (talk) 01:13, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
The nominator of this AfD has been blocked as a sock, and you are the only other user who supported deletion, on the basis that there were only passing mentions in two sources. About a dozen more news articles written specifically about the subject have been found since then, so if you would be willing to reconsider your vote, I think it would help to expedite closing the issue. Thanks! 2406:3003:2077:1E60:C998:20C6:8CCF:5730 (talk) 06:21, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello!
[edit]Hi, Oaktree b,
I just wanted to thank you for your active participation in deletion discussions. I don't always see things the same way that you see them but as a discussion closer, it's not about my opinion but about the consensus and evidence presented by the discussion participants. I see you there frequently and I know it can be time-consuming giving articles a thorough evaluation and tracking down sources so I wanted to thank you for that. And I hope if you have issues with either a comment of mine or a closure, you'll come talk it out on my User talk page. See you around! Liz Read! Talk! 06:36, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

- Some users don't quite understand what "notability" means for wikipedia. I don't necessarily fault them; I've been doing wiki article for almost 20 years. It takes a while to understand the various bits and bots here and how to properly source things. I think that's the case with this user; some are just very excited to create articles without getting all the parts correct. It's important to stick with it, that's really the only way to improve. Oaktree b (talk) 01:45, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think I hit the learning curve at high speed, or the curve hit me in the face; I am not sure. Notability is tricky.. I am trying to learn about it at the moment. I have been keeping a "learning log" on my talk page.. I am trying not to cause too much chaos or overhead for others. anyway its good to be meeting folks and working with them.. Wikipedia was a good supplement today to kayaking. Flibbertigibbets (talk) 01:56, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- This is a good resource, I consult it often; a chart showing what is a "reliable source" here and what isn't. [2]. In a nutshell, try to get hits on what whatever topic you're writing an article about from the "green sources" and none from the "red sources". Otherwise, peer-reviewed scientific journals are the top level source (like what you'd find in Google Scholar), then books, then magazines and newspapers.
